WR Brandon Aiyuk, SF (4 Viewers)

He's an idiot. The amount of money he's walking away from is insane.

The July voiding of Brandon Aiyuk's guarantees had already opened the 49ers to potentially gain $85 million of long-term spending space by moving on from the wide receiver.

Now, with 2025 pay also on the table, that number may exceed $90 million freed for SF to spend.

There’s stupid and there’s Aiyuk stupid.
Other then "he's just dumb" do we have any idea why this is happening? Is it just as simple as the guy is dumb?
As someone who rosters this bozo in dynasty, I’d like to think there was a better reason than “he’s just dumb”, but I’m starting to feel strongly it’s simply the case.
I would be concerned there is some real mental illness here, just does not add up.

49ers were never going to honor the full 4 year, $120 mil contract. Those later year cap numbers were insane.

People can call Aiyuk dumb all they want, but he's already made $61+ mil in career earnings.

And he might have to pay some of that back. He also behaved in a manner to lose much more money he could have earned going forward if he just worked hard and behaved in a reasonably.

Somone will sign him for sure but I can't suspect he's going to get anywhere near what he was making for the 49ers. I wouldn't be suprised if he's near the veteran min on a prove it deal

It is odd to me that we have not heard a peep from BA. He was very vocal during negotiations and I would have thought he would be lighting up the air waves of social media with his side of this bizarre situation.

I would imagine any contract will be incentive laden and have certain performance provisions, but teams will be willing to sign BA. Expect a short leash, however.

100%. All we have heard is "This guy is dumb." I'm not arguing he isn't dumb at all, I just am curious his reasoning. Let's just say he is just simply dumb. Doesn't he have anyone in his circle with any common sense? A third cousin that lets him know this path makes zero sense. If he hadn't just signed a contract, sure, I got it. Dude just got paid though and his decided path is to simply give them a lot of the money back and lower his value? Make it make sense.

With the DNR label in my Yahoo dynasty he is no longer eligible for IR, may have to drop him to make further waiver moves. A year out of football, 28 next March, no clear destination, one real impactful FF season in career, unclear mental faculties…not sure I should be sweating it…

There hasn't been any reporting on this that I've seen. He's at minimum a very weird dude (this was evident from his erratic conduct and positions during his contract negotiation as well), worst case is that he's dealing with something serious.

What a shame. Never see anything like it. I was able to move an injured Aiyuk in my only league where I had a share the week after he got hurt, and shockingly received a pretty solid return. I’d expect his value to be very low at this point - probably spikes when he signs with a new team (commanders?)
