WR Brandon Aiyuk, SF (5 Viewers)

Wasn't high on him with prospect of Lance starting in 2021. I think Lance showed in his last start he has no business starting right now. He's not gonna last long as a starting QB playing like that IMO. Way way too many direct shots.

That said I picked up Aiyuk off waivers this week hoping Jimmy stays the mostly FT QB for 2021 and Aiyuk is given some shots.

I don't own Aiyuk, but am always fascinated by the big fantasy misses   when they happen. There is some really strong data out there that tells us from a dynasty perspective, Aiyuk owners really really need a breakout this year.

It is an obvious statement, that really good WRs breakout early. But it's really critical. Not long ago, the guideline was year 3. It has really become year 2. If Aiyuk doesn't breakout, there will be some owners looking to sell, but I think many will be holding, discussing year 3 development, and QB play improving, and looking for the silver lining.

But man, 1st round WRs who don't make an impact in year 2, history is bad bad bad. It might seem like selling low to trade him now, or before next year, but it's possible you might still be selling high.

Deebo has always been the main man when fit, but I refuse to think that there isn’t some room for Aiyuk to put up good numbers across a season. I’m looking to buy low in dynasty, Deebo isn’t the best at staying fit either

Just when I think oh maybe I can put him in there this week coming off bye, the weather decides to be like this. Anybody hear the latest? Still flood conditions tonight?

I'm looking at starting Gibson and McKissic and benching this guy again. Other options are Quez Watkins, Drake, Herbert.

I just pulled him.  Strong winds and rain and JG does not a good game make.

I took Pittman out of most lineups too, despite the fact that Campbell and Hilton are both out. All it takes is one or two bubble screens that these guys break open, though. I have spots I can't take them out anyway so I guess I'll see what they can do.

Aiyuk isn't really the bubble screen guy...that's deebo

What options are better than Pittman this week thay you saw?

I swapped him for Bateman in a couple spots. And then there are a few spots I am punting the decision until the 2nd slate of games today and debating between Pittman and OJ Howard, Herbert, Damien Williams. It is TE premium. I am leaning towards keeping Pittman in because even in a flood he is their number 1 target. Aiyuk is a different story. Don't feel great about it either way. Quez Watkins was a guy I was thinking of but would rather go Pittman.

Probably gonna go to Bryan Edwards if waller is out

I'm starting to get out of all passing option players for this game tonight too

Yeah I also deviated from using Wentz as my bye week QB. My weather app is showing nearly 100% chance of rain for nearly 12 hours, well before the game to well after, so this doesn't seem like a regular old rainstorm that won't affect the passing game much. May be some wind as well. I'm not really comfortable with any kicking game or passing game in what this could potentially look like. RBs and Defense are it for me.

Update I just saw said a half inch of rain today (that is a lot, not unheard of but certainly heavy rain), but then the forecast for "tonight" is 1-2 inches. Flooding rain. Winds between 15-30. I mean. Even Sermon might be a sneaky play.

Rumor has it that Aiyuk is a mudder.

This guy loves the slop. Born in slop. Eats the slop.

You see, his father was a mudder......and his mother was a mudder.

Aiyuk doing nothing.

Jimmy G really does only have eyes for Deebo. Aiyuk is sadly going to need a Deebo injury to have any relevance this year.

Brandon Aiyuk was held to one catch for six yards in Week 7 against the Colts.

Aiyuk took another step back after posting his second most yards and catches of the season before the 49ers' Week 6 bye. The second-year wideout has just eight targets over the last three weeks and is still under 100 yards on the season. Even if the 49ers make the move to Trey Lance next week, Aiyuk shouldn't be in fantasy lineups.

I give up. I'm dropping him for a bag of chips at this point, even if it's a DST a week early (for streaming) or a backup TE. I hoped that the bye week to sort things out, news of a good practice week, and Kittle's injury would be the formula for Aiyuk to have a good game (if it was ever going to happen).

What hurts especially is that I was flipping between Aiyuk and Deebo at this point in the draft. And I picked horribly wrong.

His mother was a mudder???

It's kind of ironic at this point in the season the new Dante Pettis has scored a grand total of 25.7 fantasy points and the original Dante Pettis has scored almost that exact amount the last two weeks, coming in at 25.5.

From what I can tell as a casual observer watching some highlights, he's not consistent with his routes. He ran a great route against the Pack on his only TD of the year. But some of his routes look sloppy. He's not beating coverage. He's not open.

No hope for this season. Jimmy only has eyes for Deebo and with a move to Lance the passing volume will be be even less.

He’s waiver wire fodder.

So, Jimmy really does only have eyes for Deebo. I'm not sure how relevant it is how open Aiyuk is getting or not getting. I really really thought I had something with him this year.

Is he still a stash in dynasty or do you try and cut bait if there is a buyer?
Obviously throwing only to Deebo all game every game isn’t working for them so I’m going to assume that at some point they are going to have to get Aiyuk (and others) more involved than they have

Threw in a first to trade him for Kupp to a rebuild team. I'm fine with that. Have him in another league and made a couple of offers but no response. Probably throw him on the bench and forget he exists. Hope he has a Mike Williams jump back to relevance in a year or 2.

this past game:

Throwing to Deebo=  7 of 11(63%), 100yds, 1 td

Throwing to others=  9 of 16 (56%), 81yds, 0td

I dont think throwing to Deebo is the problem.  He is top 4 in yards, 3 in YAC and top 10 in ypc so its not like they are forcing it to him 3 times in a row for a few yards then punting.

Something is wrong with thier Off though, so i would guess Aiyuk being more involved than then 1 target this game but i dont see how he comes anywhere close to being what many expected him to be this year. Maybe Lance will take a step next year and will open up the offense.  This year, Deebo will get his, Kittle will get his...assuming they are healthy. imo

Too bad the guy with Kupp is sitting behind me at #2 right now so he won't trade.  Best I can get from a rebuild might be Keenan Allen or see if I can get AJ Dillon since I have Aaaron Jones.

Asked Wednesday if Brandon Aiyuk adding extra muscle for the 2021 season had actually been a negative, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said "possibly."

Shanahan was just responding to a reporter's question, but this is about the fifth different explanation we have heard from the 49ers coach about why the hot-starting 2020 first-rounder has seen his usage plummet this season. Aiyuk's snap percentage held static at its Week 5 rate of 71 percent in Week 7 coming out of the 49ers' bye. Deebo Samuel (calf) missed practice Wednesday, but Shanahan expects him to play against the Bears. Nearing the season's halfway point, Aiyuk is the WR96 by half PPR points.

Is Aiyuk droppable for a Defense playing in WEEK NINE? A full week away?  And the D is Miami...

Can't believe I bought into this guy

I think so. I dropped him weeks ago and he’s still sitting on the wire as a free agent. And I don’t see that changing till he has a breakout game.

Brandon Aiyuk caught 4-of-7 targets for 45 yards in the 49ers' Week 8 loss to the Bears.

45 yards set a new season-high for Aiyuk, as depressing as it is to think about that. The second-year wideout's struggles have been well-documented this season, but he did finish second on the 49ers in targets against Chicago. With that being said, it's impossible to trust Aiyuk right now, and he should be left on the bench for fantasy purposes.

Brandon Aiyuk caught 6-of-8 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' Week 9 loss to the Cardinals.

Aiyuk fumbled the ball away early in the second quarter on a play that would normally have gotten him banished for the remainder of the game by Kyle Shanahan. However, Aiyuk remained on the field throughout the contest and rewarded his coach with the best receiving numbers of his 2021 season. Aiyuk hadn't topped 45 yards in a game yet and only had one score on the year. His eight targets were tied for second on the team, one behind Deebo Samuel. Aiyuk's two biggest games have come in back-to-back weeks, pointing to a midseason awakening from him. He remains a risky bet for now but Aiyuk is at least a usable fantasy option after disappearing early in the season.
