WR Brandon Aiyuk, SF (2 Viewers)

Let's keep this no comedy and 100% on NFL Football please.

I did not report you, Blackbear. At all. That's a lot of why I said something. To keep this away from you w/r/t to the moderators, who will trawl this site or watch for reports, which I figured you'd get. I'm sorry, man.

This is a warning! I have the reverse-midas-touch with WRs and I picked him up.

I drove the Rondale Moore hype train, that went well. I went all in on Toney, then played him last week in place of Darrell Williams because of Elijah Mitchell's injury status and the time slot. Would have won my week if not for that blunder.

So now I need a WR next week (Ridley, Woods and Jeudy all off week 11) so I'm hoping for the Aiyuk train to keep chugging along. He's also my emergency flex this week should something go wrong with anyone I'm starting.

Those of you counting on him, consider yourselves warned 🙂

He probably got multiple reports from the craziness he went on last night.  Either way, check out the Mac Jones thread.  There's no place for that in here.... I'm assuming he's gone for good.

I think he has problems. I have nothing but a bit of empathy and best wishes for peace of mind for him. Blackbear, if you're reading this, I hope you're well. I don't want you to get cut off from anything if you're in dire straits. I don't want to post my email online but I'm tempted to. You don't seem well. I can be reached at rockaction8@gmail.com.

Week 11 Fantasy Football Market Share Report: Brandon Aiyuk Is Back

Excerpt:

Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers

The Brandon Aiyuk saga reached a nice critical positive point on Sunday in a 30-10 San Francisco win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Aiyuk grabbed 7 catches for 85 yards and 1 touchdown. He dominated the receiving target share with 36.8% of the work.

Jimmy Garoppolo only had to pass 19 times, but with George Kittle and Deebo Samuel grabbing headlines most weeks, Aiyuk is a nice grab for depth and could be a useful play down the stretch as Samuel sees more work on the ground (17 carries the past two weeks).

Prolly my wr3 ROS- seems to be establishing the floor in competitive games and ceiling is low end wr1

perhaps shanny has unlocked something with deebo in the backfield like Patterson as well, and kittle Aiyuk being the field stretchers

Kinda feel like one of those 1A/1B RB situations but WR with Deebo and Aiyuk. Standalone value now but if, god forbid, anything happened to the former then his value would skyrocket.

Week 13 Fantasy Football Stats: An RB1 finish for Antonio Gibson?

Excerpt:

Brandon Aiyuk has taken seven snaps out of the backfield in his entire career

There’s plenty of talk about Brandon Aiyuktaking over the Deebo Samuel role this week. I can't see it.

Folks compare Aiyuk and Samuel because they are both strong and physical players after the catch. True, but they are still quite different. Aiyuk has some freaky qualities with the way he moves and wins off-target passes, thanks to his python arms. But he’s not about to take true wide-zone running back looks like Deebo Samuel does. He’s not built like that — no wide receiver is. Samuel might be one of, if not the biggest unicorn at the position in today’s game.

The good news for folks invested in Aiyuk, he doesn’t have to be that guy. Aiyuk is more of an explosive downfield player and now that he’s past the Kyle Shanahan mind games, he’s been producing with his opportunities. Aiyuk is 12th among wide receivers since Week 8 in yards with 336. The receiving pendulum has already started to swing his way too as Samuel has filled in more at running back. Aiyuk's 29 percent target share over the last three games leads the team.

Aiyuk is a great flex play and DFS value this week ($18) but it’s not because he’s going to fill Samuel’s role. No one can do that. Aiyuk’s role has grown enough on its own at this point and if a few extra targets spillover from Samuel’s absence ... that’s just gravy.

Brandon Aiyuk caught 4-of-5 targets for 40 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' Week 16 loss to the Titans.

It was something of a rebound on last Sunday's humbug 1/36 performance, though Aiyuk now has just seven total targets over his past two games. He was saved by his two-yard score this evening. With the Titans' defense confused, Aiyuk got lost in the back of the end zone. Aiyuk was hurt by a wildly inaccurate Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy G dialed up a bevy of interceptable passes and missed a number of gimmes. Aiyuk has a delectable Week 17 matchup in the Texans, but the 49ers figure to go fully established considering the Texans' ground weakness and Garoppolo's performance this evening.

Brandon Aiyuk caught 4-of-8 targets for 69 yards in the 49ers' NFC Championship loss to the Rams.

After last week's goose egg against the Packers, Aiyuk led the team in targets and tied Deebo Samuel for a team-high four grabs. Drafted 25th overall in 2020, Aiyuk's sophomore season started slow with coach Kyle Shanahan essentially calling out Aiyuk's practice habits, but by midseason Aiyuk was an every-down wideout for the Niners as Deebo Samuel's running mate. From Week 9 forward, Aiyuk was fantasy's overall WR24, catching four of his five touchdowns, and finishing with a 56-826-5 receiving line. Aiyuk is dripping with talent and will likely head into the summer viewed as an upside WR3 with Trey Lance likely to take over as the Niners' QB1 in 2022.

How does everyone feeling about Aiyuk after last season and the "expected" trade of Deebo?  Is anyone buying him or selling him?

If you have him, I feel like he's a hold. I traded for him around this time last off-season.

If I were trying to obtain I'd send a 2nd rookie pick for him.

Depends. If the Niners do trade him for a premium pick (rumors are the Jets for #10), they may very well use the acquired pick for one of the top rookie WRs.

He’s been offered to me for the 1.5, I passed. I don’t think most owners are willing to give him up for anything close to just a 2nd. He was an off-season darling this time last season with all the talk being him displacing Deebo, owners are still dreaming of that especially if Deebo is traded.

Bumping for thoughts today on Aiyuk.

I'm not a subscriber at Reception Perception but had heard last offseason that he had good/great win rates in all areas of the field and was intrigued. Happened to not land in my draft but c'est la vie and then he faceplanted by way of Shannahan's doghouse for not doing the right things/ hammy injury in the offseason/ camp/ first few weeks of the season. I picked him off waivers and had him down the stretch so it was.. interesting.

Year 1- 15.4 ppr ppg on 96 targets.  In particular had a 6 game stretch from game 7-15 (three games missed) averaging 20.8 points per game on 11.5 targets.

Year 2- 16 targets thru 7 games. OOF. 2.3 targets. Doghouse city.

Recovered a bit games 8-18-- 11 games, 6.2 targets per game, 13.1 points per game which is more or less a WR 30 pace, based on 2021 points per game averages.

I'm assuming the following for 2021:

  • Trey Lance starts and struggles to keep 3 different fantasy relevant pass catchers afloat especially early in the year.
  • Deebo is signed to an extension
  • Kittle stays healthy.
I think the typical passing pie is going to go 21% Deebo, 18% Kittle/ Aiyuk. But I wonder how much passing volume is going to be put on Lance's shoulder. Might be a low volume passing game. if Kittle and Deebo are on the team, it's tough to project much more than 6-7 targets per game for Aiyuk. Deebo should be getting more than that and Kittle should get 5 touches, minimum. This is why I'm also fading Deebo at his cost.

I do wonder if they scheme up some runs for Aiyuk which would be great for his value. Deebo wants out of this role. Nobody's Deebo but Aiyuk's no slouch. Two rushing TDs as a rookie.

I'm hopeful for Lance as a passer later on in 22 and in 23 I think he could be good. I think Aijuy's longer term value is good but for 22, I can see why his ADP is WR40. I see him struggling to start the year and being frustrating to put in the lineup but putting up several top 15-20 weeks. If Kittle or Deebo miss time, he might be thrust into a WR2 type of value or more. If Deebo is traded then he's more of a locked in low end WR2 at minimum.

yeah, I'm down on SF passing game in general.   Mostly fades for me, Aiyuk a decent late round dart throw if he slides far enough, but Deebo and Kittle are easy fades.  Jennings is an intriguing deep deep dart throw.

He’s my WR4 on a team i took over (16 team, full PPR) and Lance is my SF QB.

I’m hopeful this is a connection that blossoms, but yeah - I’m treating it much differently in redraft. Agree on Kittle & Deebo at their ADP. Kittle is 29 & plays like his head’s on fire, and Deebo is less likely to run for as many TDs with a rushing QB, better/more RBs and a team that IMO will be less vertical overall.

not that Deebo & Kittle won’t be valuable. They’ll just be over-drafted, IMO.

Again, as a Lance/Aiyuk shareholder & a Niners fan I hope they wildly exceed my expectation. But I try to keep it real.

49ers finished 29th in pass attempts (514) last year and I think expecting that # to decrease is a decent bet.  Could see 76 QB rushes rise by at least 50-75%.

Interestingly though, checking out FFC from last year HPPR - Aiyuk was drafted WR22, while Samuel coming off an injury marred 2020 was WR36.  I had Aiyuk that last half of 2020 and he was a top 12 WR.

It can be easy to fall into a mindset the primary season that matters is the previous one.  But Aiyuk still has a big time pedigree and his last 10 games post doghouse produced 43/685/4...a 73/1165/7 line prorated.  With a pretty banged up Garoppollo.

So there is some upside here even with the unknown of what Lance actually is.  If Lance turns out to be the real deal, WR40 could be cheap.

Agree. I like them as Dynasty adds, but only Aiyuk seems like a good value in redraft

His rushing potential is why I drafted him last season and it didn't work out. But I will probably go back to him in the draft again this year. Deebo got almost all the WR rushing attempts (59 total) last season but Aiuyk could easily get 2-4 rushing TDs if they would just call his number. Add that to his floor of 5 receiving TDs and you have a WR that greatly exceeds his ADP.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk's performance during minicamp "wasn't what you'd expect" from a veteran receiver, according to Jack Hammer of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Bad practice reports are nothing new for Aiyuk, who was benched by Kyle Shanahan and played limited snaps for the first two weeks of last season. The third-year receiver struggled with drops and wasn't "on the same page" as second-year QB Trey Lance after the two spent time working over the offseason. No higher than the No. 3 option in a run-heavy offense, Aiyuk is unlikely to make a Year 3 leap.

GTFOH just saw a video of him balling out with Lance like yesterday.
Yeah…I know there’s always a lot of off-season chatter to sift through, but man it seems like there’s a lot more uncorroborated stuff this season than ever. We keep hearing weird things about Lance leaked that really don’t seem to jive with what people who have actually watched him this summer say. I don’t know. The season can’t start soon enough.

also, wait - his name is Jack Hammer?

his parents, the Hammers, named their son “Jack”, as though a jackhammer wasn’t a thing?

Seriously?

here’s what he said on June 7th

”The third year wideout was targeted a team high six times on the day and came away with four receptions.

During a seven-on-seven session deep in the redzone, Aiyuk was able to come down with a couple of touchdowns. The first came on a quick throw into the right flat from Trey Lance. The second came after Aiyuk ran a stick route on the left side and sat down in the zone between two defenders.

Aiyuk also played a key role in the lone turnover of the day by the 49ers offense. Running an out towards the right sideline, Trey Lance fit a perfect pass past the coverage of Ka’dar Hollman. The ball bounced off Aiyuk’s hands and Hollman was able to snatch the ball out of the air for a touchback.

During team drills, Aiyuk came back from the negative play by running past Deommodore Lenoir down the right sideline and hauling in a nicely placed pass from Nate Sudfeld.”

So he was 4/6 with a couple TDs, and now he sucks? Please Hammer, don’t hurt ‘em
