WR Cooper Kupp, SEA (8 Viewers)

I read Sean Settle's article concerning bad matchups for WRs. There was no mention of good or bad matchups with Nacua or Kupp. My concern is Sauce Gardner and who he will cover. I am guessing Nacua. With Kupp laying an egg last week, luckily I was on a bye, I would guess the team would want to make up for that. Anyone have any insight on who Gardner would cover?
No doubt Sauce is on Puka. Kupp is usually out of the slot and moved around a lot while Sauce is on the perimeter usually where Puka is.

Jets have been giving it up to everyone through the air.

I'm giving Kupp a muligan for last week. Starting him without question.
thanks for the backup thoughts, I was thinking same thing but some self doubt in there, thanks for the response

It sucks for the people who started him, but man he's gonna be fine going forward. Coming into this game Kupp was WR6 in PPG in PPR. His 4 weeks prior to this he scored: 28.6, 22.0, 4.7, and 20.2, which was WR5 over that stretch.

If you advanced despite this egg, you start him next week, if you are in a guillotine league, he's a premier target if his team loses.
Not everyone is in ppr leagues. And who is advancing with a freaking 0 from a player.
I had Kupp and still put up a 204 too bad I had DeVonta 28, Higgins 19 and Aubrey 16 all on my bench when all I needed was 205 to advance.

It's McLaurin or Kupp for me (also have Addison too) need to start 1 in a high pressure spot for my #1 cutline team.

$70K on the line been thinking about it all week can't afford to get cut this week with championship round looming for the top 12 teams next week.

I want the safe pts but hard to say either is safe McLaurin shut down last time and Kupp posting a 0 last week. Addison in the rain.

Why did Guerendo have to be out.

Brutal.

I had the other end of the spectrum. After getting a donut from Kupp on Thursday, I got a few more from Waddle, Cooper, and Tua. Definitely did not survive 4 guys combining for -0.16 points in the playoffs.

I was so tempted to start McMillan over Kupp but then thought that's just crazy. Turns out continuing to start Kupp was the crazy thing

So what's everyone doing with him this week?

Two duds in a row. McVay seems more interested in pounding the rock lately. They need this game.

Going to be tempted to sit him for either T. Tracy or T. Spears.

I would sit him for Tracy if you are looking for floor stability.

Yeah I just don’t get it. Kupp was Stafford’s dude and for a while when Nacua emerged he was feeding both equally. Stafford has always had periods where he was laser focused on one guy - Calvin, Kupp - but he also had a period in Detroit where he would spread it evenly around about the time they had Tate, Golladay, Boldin etc.

Logic would just dictate that having to defend two WRs that are being equally fed is going to be more difficult than dealing with one threat that is being carpet bombed with targets.

It is a mind boggler if Kupp is fit which he seems to be. He was routinely getting double digit targets the first 7 weeks he was back this season and it’s just fallen off a cliff

Stafford did not play well and when that happens he seems to just focus on one guy. Kupp has not been that guy as of late.

What happened to this guy? No indication he's hurt, just mind boggling
It's been this way for a while now. Nobody should be surprised.

It's Puka or bust.

Which makes no sense for an offense if they want to advance. Having some semblance of balance and diversity would help. Not just saying this as a Kupp owner. It's just odd. Unless Kupp is just not Kupp anymore.

Just 2 games prior to this one, one impacted by weather, suppose could say 3 out of last 4, but prior to that had 5 strong games, so yes expectations were maybe lower after recent performance but I think another game of one catch was a surprise.

3 targets last night. One uncatchable. Can't really blame Kupp. Hard to believe he lost his entire skillset over a 4 week period. He went from being Stafford's bestie to Mr. Irrelevant virtually overnight. As a fantasy player, hard to bench a guy you probably picked in the 3rd round who had been a very productive player up until a month ago, especially when there is no particular reason for his sudden decline in production. For those of you who did bench him, nice job

I've watched all these games and the ball is going to Puka or bust. It's like Kupp is an afterthought in the offense.

Despite this, last night was the first game where I was on the fence keeping him in the starting lineup.

What a weird fall-off. Dude was a monster until the last 4-5 weeks. Wonder if there’s an injury.

Then again Stafford has been terrible as well.
I'm sure someone already mentioned it in this thread, but Stafford has been so bad, maybe he just feels Puka can make tougher catches of his crappy passes.

It seems to me that Stafford is just locking onto Puka, and Kupp is also being used in a lot of blocking situations. Stafford forced one to Kupp in the end zone last night (incomplete) with Kupp WIDE OPEN underneath just 5 yards away from Puka. It isn't Kupp,. it's Stafford

The bomb to Kupp was a "free play" on an obvious offside, so I doubt he would have forced that throw in double coverage overwise.

But yeah, definitely a Stafford issue.

It's Nakua's team now, so it's baffling why McVey thought it would be a good idea to have a guy like Kupp be a motion in-line blocker down the stretch. Injury?

Dude has to be secretly steaming. One target last night, and it was clear from Staffords reaction it was a token one at that.

In his last 4 games he has 10 targets for 5 receptions and 82 yards...he used to get that in a quarter a few years ago...it's not like he is in a slump...they have phased him out during important games.

They phased him that last half of the season. It was obvious that Puka took over the marquee role and that Kupp was no longer the man. It was painfully obvious watching the games.

It really doesn't make sense. Like Puka being the clear #1 is fine, but Kupp having 2.5 targets a game over the last month is just a waste of Kupp's talent.

I’d be very surprised if he is a Ram next year at this point unless something unusual is going on. I don’t know his contract status but clearly from earlier in the year they are open to trade him.

Is he still getting the same separation? Maybe they see a drop off in his skills.

Agreed...I understand Puka becoming the Alpha (as he should be) but Kupp is almost invisible...that's what is tough to understand...it's not like he is getting 5 receptions for 55 yards...he is not even a factor right now and that is happening without any other WRs stepping up.

Gotta believe that has to do with this...makes too much sense not to.

I honestly don't see how that makes any sense. You don't lose that much ability, speed or quickness in two months, only explanation would be if you have some sort of injury.

When you look at the 7 games after he came back from his injury but before this 4 game skid he had 64 targets for 45 receptions for 510 yards and 5 TDs and that was with Puka playing...gotta believe there is a good chance he is playing injured right now.

But if that’s true, they have to have other players who could block and collect zero targets. I know it’s crazy, but it seems almost personal.

Maybe Kupp pisssed off Kelly Stafford.

Agree that he didn’t lose his ability overnight and agree that they have other players they can use as blockers. Maybe a decoy thing but hard to be a decoy without getting targets. Very odd.

Declining asset. Rams should trade him if they can get a day 2 pick.
Who's giving up a day 2 pick for a 31 yr old that's been held under 1K yds 3 years in a row, missed multiple games in each season, and is under team control for just 2 more years.

Wouldn't be the first.

This is how it usually happens. That's why they call it "falling off a cliff"... it's sudden... lot of bodies down there.

So you don't think he's tradable for a 4th round pick?

Edit: My bad, the 4th round is on day 3.
