“The praise put on Emeka Egbuka has been plentiful after he has impressed in offseason practices. When the pads come on in training camp is when the “dawgs” come out, so we will see how he fares and if he continues to shine later in the summer.”
Egbuka is going to have a big role in the Bucs' offense, especially with Chris Godwinstill recovering from ankle surgery, and even after. He has shown up a ton in the short passing game -- really helping Tampa Bay stretch the field horizontally, and at times looking like a running back once the ball is in his hands -- but he's also been on the end of some big plays downfield.
"The thing that sticks out is how cerebral he is," QB Baker Mayfield said. "He's so smart. Right now, I think we could plug-and-play him at every [wide] receiver spot; he understands the offense that well. That's just him being a pro already." -- Jenna Laine
I’m currently considering him with my 1.04. RBs don’t get the love there, so I’m betting Hunter, Tet and Jeanty are the top 3 picks. I don’t really like Hampton enough to take him thereReally like Egbuka's potential in this offense, but not expecting much this year given the multitude of receiving options. 2026 could be big though with Evans and Godwin a year older and at least one of them may not be a Buc any more.
Trade down then, most people will gladly pay to move up for Hampton (Not saying you are wrong about him, but use ADP to your advantage)I’m currently considering him with my 1.04. There is absolutely a reasonable chance that Egbuka is the #2 WR week 1. Tampa (in my opinion) is the most likely team in the NFL to win their division. Some of that is Tampa is really good, but much of that is the rest of the division may not field a team with more than 7 wins. So, its entirely within the realm of possibility that they bring Godwin along slowly, and his old role simply isn't there for him when he gets back. Not saying Egbuka>Godwin in 2025, but I'm open to the possibility.Dynasty wise, obviously, love him.
Redraft wise--I think he could be really sneaky. You need something to go "right." But Mike Evans is 32. He's a hall of famer, one of the best ever. But father time is undefeated. Maybe it doesn't happen to Evans this year. But "needing 32 year old WR to fall off" isn't an impossible pathway.
Godwin is coming back from injury. I've seen some doctor people on twitter and such estimate he's going to be around 80% come week 1. Maybe he's slowed down. Maybe he gets injured from compensating. Maybe not. But again, another not so crazy pathway.

I think EE can be a league winner. Sadly I couldn’t get him in my dynasty leagues (could have but took Hunter instead) but I did grab him in a startup at pick 83 (3.19, 32 teams)TB ran 11 personnel 71% of the time last season. 8th highest in the league. I don't know how exactly Egbuka vs McMillan is going to shake out; but I agree with others that unless those two have a 50/50 split on snaps, there will be a third WR in this offense who provides a solid value. Egbuka going around WR48 right now, maybe not a screaming value, but I think he has a very good chance of at least meeting that ADP value.
If someone goes down, 100% agree. League winning top 12 WR finish potential. But even an Evans/Godwin injury aside, he could blow by WR48 and be a Tee Higgins in the offense. He's just been a flag plant guy for me for so long (really, second only to Skattebo. He was my WR1B in this class from jump) I try to temper my wild expectations haha.I think EE can be a league winner. Baker (unprompted) on 1st-round WR Emeka Egbuka:
"Emeka Egbuka is an absolute stud. He’s the real deal.
You know how you just can’t teach guys leaving the ground to catch the ball – he’s always grounded when he catches it. He keeps moving. There’s YAC potential out the wazoo there.
But he’s just so damn smart. And he’s willing to block - willing to do everything we ask him to do. But then we can plug and play him at any of the three receiver spots right now. It’s pretty exciting.”

...for fantasy, Egbuka is the leading candidate to make us kick ourselves for (again!) worrying too much about September playing time versus talent and team investment.
Dude could tilt leagues and he's goes 8th round in bestball and will go a decent amount later in redraft.
Starting to look very likely that Egbuka starts the season as the #2 WR, and there is no real reason to think he can't hold that job.I guess Godwin had a 2nd procedure and is on the PUP. There was that picture where his ankle still looked swollen.
Now the QB is gushing over him.
I think we're going to see it. Egbuka will get opportunities to start the season. Godwin will probably not be 100% to start the season, if he even plays week 1. They'll probably ease him back in to action/snaps, especially with all of their talent at WR. But if Egbuka has chemistry with Baker early, Godwin may be more of a secondary option.
Absolutely target Egbuka.

Been quite a few times in TB since 2019 where they had 2 WRs with top-15 value. If the running game takes a step back without Coen, its possible Egbuka could be an 80-catch guy as a rookie if things break right. McMillan was a league winner down the stretch last year, and Egbuka quickly blew right past him.

They didn’t lose Bucky too did they?If the running game takes a step back without Coen
The team's YPC went from 3.4 to 5.3. Bucky (a guy I've been driving the bandwagon on since the 2024 draft) was certainly a part of that, but unrealistic to think the main reason. I mean, Rachaad White went from 3.6 to 4.3, and Sean Tucker (in limited work) was up at 6.2.They didn’t lose Bucky too did they?If the running game takes a step back without Coen
I agree with much of this, but I will say, I think its unlikely the offense doesn't take at least a slight step back losing Coen. I think your over/under is much more likely a ceiling. I also think Otton is JAG, but that likely means we see a steady diet of 3-WR (and maybe 4-WR) sets whenever Godwin is healthy.Yes to all of that but I think it all suggests one more really important step perhaps, IMHO.Starting to look very likely that Egbuka starts the season as the #2 WR, and there is no real reason to think he can't hold that job.I guess Godwin had a 2nd procedure and is on the PUP. If he is *that guy* then he might just take over the #1 spot right away and never look back. They drafted him to be that guy. If he is capable of being the #2 on day one he is probably capable of being the #1 not unlike other 1st round WRs that have hit. If he is capable of being the #1 there is a good chance he is capable right away. And I'm not saying that would require Mike Evans being washed, and I don't think he is at all, but that I think they want Egbuka to be the #1 and I just really think all the ingredients are there for that to happen immediately. A lot of times the players that become *the guy* started doing it immediately. This is all lining up perfectly for it. And Mike Evans only makes it better really, plus a strong running game. Tough offense to defend. The other WRs aren't bad (leaving Godwin out for the moment) and Otton is super underrated IMO. Egbuka could legitimately be a problem and I would put the over under at something like 80/1100/10 and he looks like one of the biggest screaming deals in fantasy right now.
I'd agree it's more like a ceiling but when I do these I assume without injury, which Vegas doesn't and placed bets don't care if the player gets hurt. Taking the under would almost always make sense, even on much more conservative lines. I would never make a straight up bet on the line I set above because even just a couple games missed could make the difference. But I feel like it's the right guess for where he finishes outside of injury. I haven't looked yet* but would assume the current Vegas line which might creep up a bit before week 1, is what maybe 50/600/4?The team's YPC went from 3.4 to 5.3. I will add, it hasn't been hard to draft both Evans and Egbuka in drafts, so if one is really down on Godwin, its a very viable play.

I feel like with Evans hammy issues and Godwin’s slow return, both McMillan and Egbuka will be plenty busy this year. It's my understanding this has already happened?
Me too, but I think first man up is Egbuka and not McMillanI’m just a little skeptical that Evans & Godwin stay on the field.

ESPN’s Jenna Laine believes Emeka Egbuka has been Tampa Bay’s standout performer in training camp.
Laine compares Egbuka favorably to Jalen McMillan, saying that McMillan took much more time to get acclimated and noting that Egbuka has stepped into Chris Godwin’s role as Tampa’s big slot receiver “nicely.” Still available well outside of the top 40 wideouts by most ADP counters, Egbuka should be rising as we get closer to the start of the season with the news that Godwin could miss time. He’s got a real chance to displace McMillan when the Bucs are at full health in their receiving corps as well.
It's my understanding this has already happened?
I agree. I personally think he is a lesser prospect than JSN. That is not a slight at all, just do not see the tremendous upside.his ADP is out of control on the rise. not sure there's much value there anymore.
The big question will be Bucs WR pecking order. Evans efficiency trailed off last year I believe. He's at the age where we usually see WRs dip drastically- even among the caliber of players that Evans is. Nuk, Julio, Diggs, etc. Godwin has the dislocated ankle and I think it required another surgery recently and the Bucs are saying he could miss games.Sounds like he needs volume to be truly effective, last 2 seasons at Ohio State he avg around 12.5 ypc
I like his upside in the offense, not sure how many folks will actually want to start him weekly
I see a possible bye week fill in if things break right for him but there are lots of good hands on the team including Irving and White which limits what a WR3 can do
And this is why I caution everyone reading articles right now and have very little info on the writers or their credibilityAlso journalism has gotten so bad. Yeah but in this case the GM said they haven't decided yet about the reserve PUP for Godwin so missing the start of the season is very much in play.
