WR Isaiah McKenzie - IND (1 Viewer)

Bills released WR Isaiah McKenzie.

McKenzie was expendable with Buffalo signing WR Deonte Harty in free agency. Buffalo's slot receiver in 2022, McKenzie set career highs in catches (42) and yards (423) while scoring four touchdowns on 65 targets. McKenzie's release saves $2.7 million. The 27-year-old shouldn't struggle for offers as a kick returner that can contribute in four-wide sets.

What took them so long? Shakir should have been in the slot last year.
They probably will utilize Shakir about as much as McKenzie.

Gonna have to disagree with you there

McKenzie just isn't a very good receiver. Beasley did really well out of the slot, so there is production to be had there.

Is Shakir much better (rhetorical question).

Well, he should be 🙂

Much bigger at 6 ft, 190 vs 5’7”, 175. Also a college track record of production. We will see but I think he will be substantially better than McKenzie.

catching the ball will be a start

Well, he had 2 drops, so pretty small sample size. Not overly concerned about a rookie dropping a couple passes.

Where did you get the information that he "constantly" ran the wrong patterns? What percentage of routes did he run the wrong pattern on? Sincerely want to know.

Colts signed Isaiah McKenzie, formerly of the Bills.

McKenzie will replace Parris Campbell and likely function as the team's slot receiver. It's hard to imagine the terms being onerous given the point of free agency we find ourselves at. McKenzie probably will not be a fantasy dynamo in Indianapolis behind Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce but it's possible that Shane Steichen can find some quick game concepts that help him get into Quez Watkins-esque line. McKenzie finished last season with a 42/423/4 line on 65 targets, and that's probably close to the volume he should expect to get here if he's the main third wideout.

From a FF angle, I picked him off FCFS last year after our rookie draft and he was found money, but turns out it was found Monopoly money. Never started him with any kind of confidence. I'm pretty sure his best games happened on my bench.

Good luck. As a guy with a Shakir share, here's hoping he can continue to develop but that's a topic for a different thread.
