How do we feel on him?
I think Russ's QB play wasn't exactly helping him.
Jeudy also just didn't seem like who we thought he was last year.
OK, he got away from Russ.
Is Watson good anymore? He hasn't seemed like the same guy since coming back. He's been throwing it less than 30 times per game when he has played. Is there going to be enough volume after Cooper for another WR2? Njoku probably has earned a little bigger slice of the pie as well.
100% in on Juedy and Watson at their cost.
I'll expand on both of these.
There are excuses and there are reasons and I think most people don't want to hear what they think are excuses with these two players but I think they are valid reasons when taken on the whole and when factoring in their price makes them two of my favorite players to draft.
Watson first.
He's only played 11 full games since he returned. The first 6 of those games were in 2022 and majority were in some foul weather. Then last year he barely played and per him might have hurt his shoulder in week 3, a game that I thought he looked like his old self. Then they tried to manage his shoulder after a few weeks off and had to end up shutting him down. Bottom line is we got a real small sample size of games, extremely tiny when you want to just took at games he's not got a bum shoulder and playing in some nasty weather and again I thought he was just starting to look like his old self last year before he got hurt. I think he's been prematurely buried.
Now Juedy.
He's the same age as Tank Dell, he's barely a year older then Ricky Pearsall. Just mentioning to highlight how young he is and that only matters in the context that he DID actually break out. I know people cling to the he never has had a 1K season stat but after a few week slow start getting to know Wilson/Hackett in 2022 he was full on breaking out.
The excuses/reasons for him are enormous.
I may get the count wrong but I think in his 4 seasons he played with 3 different head coaches and 4 different OC's.
His QB's the majority of the time were Drew Lock and Wilson.
He's been playing under stress of constant trade rumors for at least the last two seasons.
And of course the injuries.
There is a good chance, for sure if Watson regains himself, he'll be playing with the best QB in his NFL career in the most pass happy offense with a two time head coach of the year drawing up plays and he's going from being involved in constant trade rumors to stability of a long term multi year extension.
Last year in FFPC drafts in June he was going as WR21, 4.9, because again he had actually broke out the season before. Now despite being in what I view as the best situation of his career he's going as WR57 and about 8 rounds later.
All in at this cost, for both of them.
