WR Jerry Jeudy, CLE (1 Viewer)

How do we feel on him?

I think Russ's QB play wasn't exactly helping him.
Jeudy also just didn't seem like who we thought he was last year.

OK, he got away from Russ.

Is Watson good anymore? He hasn't seemed like the same guy since coming back. He's been throwing it less than 30 times per game when he has played. Is there going to be enough volume after Cooper for another WR2? Njoku probably has earned a little bigger slice of the pie as well.
Never was a fan. He sucked me with a good stretch of play I think at the end of 2023 but then last year happened. His nice stretch in 23 looks more like an aberration than revelation.
I assume that's a typo and you meant the end of 22. I had him for that same stretch, and thought he was going to the moon last year. Beyond disappointed.

I've got him down around WR52, and don't think I'll see a lot of him.

Yeah meant 22, got mixed up on the year there.

Watson seems completely broken. And since he got a huge guaranteed contract there's little incentive for him to push himself. Russ is better than Watson at this point; for as much grief as Russ gets in the Fantasy community he still was QB12 on the year.

100% in on Juedy and Watson at their cost.

I'll expand on both of these.

There are excuses and there are reasons and I think most people don't want to hear what they think are excuses with these two players but I think they are valid reasons when taken on the whole and when factoring in their price makes them two of my favorite players to draft.

Watson first.

He's only played 11 full games since he returned. The first 6 of those games were in 2022 and majority were in some foul weather. Then last year he barely played and per him might have hurt his shoulder in week 3, a game that I thought he looked like his old self. Then they tried to manage his shoulder after a few weeks off and had to end up shutting him down. Bottom line is we got a real small sample size of games, extremely tiny when you want to just took at games he's not got a bum shoulder and playing in some nasty weather and again I thought he was just starting to look like his old self last year before he got hurt. I think he's been prematurely buried.

Now Juedy.

He's the same age as Tank Dell, he's barely a year older then Ricky Pearsall. Just mentioning to highlight how young he is and that only matters in the context that he DID actually break out. I know people cling to the he never has had a 1K season stat but after a few week slow start getting to know Wilson/Hackett in 2022 he was full on breaking out.

The excuses/reasons for him are enormous.

I may get the count wrong but I think in his 4 seasons he played with 3 different head coaches and 4 different OC's.

His QB's the majority of the time were Drew Lock and Wilson.

He's been playing under stress of constant trade rumors for at least the last two seasons.

And of course the injuries.

There is a good chance, for sure if Watson regains himself, he'll be playing with the best QB in his NFL career in the most pass happy offense with a two time head coach of the year drawing up plays and he's going from being involved in constant trade rumors to stability of a long term multi year extension.

Last year in FFPC drafts in June he was going as WR21, 4.9, because again he had actually broke out the season before. Now despite being in what I view as the best situation of his career he's going as WR57 and about 8 rounds later.

All in at this cost, for both of them.

For me Jeudy is in the Curtis Samuel class of guys who solid real-life football players but for fantasy purposes are more "won't kill me if I need a bye week Flex" or whatnot. So a useful asset, but not someone I'm actively looking to target. He hasn't looked to me like a guy who only needed a change of scenery to become a fantasy superstar, and best case scenario Watson is back and *maybe* he returns high WR3 value?

What is the price on Watson now, QB26?

funnily enough, if you remove the game in which he got injured after 5 snaps, he avg'd the same fantasy pts/game (within 0.1 - 0.3ppg) as mahomes, herbert and stroud.
....and if you removed Barry Sanders' long runs he's not a HOFer.

funnily enough, if you remove the game in which he got injured after 5 snaps....
So you got him at QB5?
If my aunt had wheels she’d be a bicycle. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No, I don't have him at QB5, but him finishing as a top 12 QB wouldn't surpise me in the least. He's being crapped on, despite being actually decent in the games he played last season.
Hopefully he comes back fully healed and puts things back on track.

If you remove his one week where he barely played, he averaged QB16 numbers. Although that sounds bad, just know he had a higher PPG average than QB7 (Goff), QB10 (Tua), QB11 (Mayfield), and QB12 (Lawrence).

Ya I mentioned that above... He was within 0.3ppg of all of herbert, mahomes and cj stroud. again, i don't think he's at their level (bar herbert) but he's definitely not a scrub.

just hoping for a healthy deshaun this yr

I'm doing a bit of a U-turn on him.

Courtland Sutton had 90 targets last season. Jeudy had 87. Javonte Williams had 58. McLaughlin had 32. Their top 2 RB's had as many targets as their WR1 and more than their WR2. I think Russ+/- the playcalling wasn't giving the WR's a chance to really succeed.

Don't get me wrong. I think Jeudy showed some maturity issues. But he's also shown very real NFL talent.

Now his success hinges on Watson--who has been pretty meh in Cleveland as far as passing. There's also the shoulder injury/surgery to worry about. There are videos of Watson throwing bombs in camp. And while I know we should take camp reports/videos with a grain of salt--I think we can safely conclude Watson's arm is "ok."

The other part of the Cleveland problem is they run so much and play elite defense. Enter Ken Dorsey who was running this amazing passing game in Buffalo the last few years. You have to think the passing attempts increase a substantial amount.

I've moved him from WR52 to WR48, which admittedly isn't much of a change. But he's going to go from someone I didn't really care about getting to more of a later round target.

@32BeatWriters
“When receiver Jerry Jeudy practices, he makes plays. Jeudy missed a lot of time with a lingering knee injury but has been back for a week and showed up again Wednesday, catching short, intermediate and deep passes from Watson and Jameis Winston.”

I got a feeling Watson gets a little bit of a “get right” game going against the Giants and Jeudy is a major beneficiary of it this weekend.

Planting my flag.

125+ yards and a TD for Jeudy Sunday.

He’s not amazing but broncos were fools to trade him for nothing. At least he separates and gets open better than those clowns in Denver. Payton’s a moron

Gosh, I hope so. I just picked him up on waivers. :)
I started Keon Coleman last week so don’t put too much stock in my predictions.

I do like Jeudy’s involvement in this offense though. And missed him in waivers this week.

Hah! Your predictions are about as good as mine then. :)

Guess he's in position to own the lions share of that 170 passing yards a game this offense provides.

Seriously though he should be in a better position, I had put him in my cut list this morning in a league I have Aubrey and need to clear a spot for a K but will have to cut someone else.

His opportunity is certainly better. But Cooper was getting peppered with targets and going 4 for 40. I almost think we need to see the QB switch still for Jeudy to be useful on a weekly basis.

Probably the most overrated WR the last decade and to think I used to defend him tooth and nail.

He got a huge pay day. Why should I believe he isn’t that good?
You’re acting as if the browns are actually good at handing out contracts these days lol

Jeudy got paid wr2 money- which doesn’t move the needle a ton for a real life team.

I think jeudy is an inefficient but serviceable 800-900 yard guy a year. The wr1 is either Tillman or not on the roster

lol. Why not trade him instead of paying him what….the 15-18 mil he would have demanded. The guy has all the talent in the world but zero work ethic. Payton’s actually a genius. It’s just like when he traded Brandin Cooks. The 2 picks he turned into Ramczyk and Trey Hendrickson.

Yeah- I mean an above average receiver Is worth good coin these days in the NFL- just not sure if Jeudy has it really. He's OK- nothing special. think Denver still needed a guy that can move the chains in zone coverage

I’ve lived in Denver since Jeudy was drafted. There have very little positive things said about him during his time in Denver.

Jerry Jeudy caught 5-of-8 targets for 79 yards in the Browns’ Week 8 win over the Ravens.

Jameis Winston spent his day unlocking all of the Browns’ pass-catchers, as Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, and Elijah Moore all turned in their best games of the season. The eight targets Jeudy saw were his most since Week 4, while his 79 yards marked a new season-high. It will be interesting to see how the Browns’ offense develops with Winston and Ken Dorsey now calling plays. Jeudy is worth a hold in fantasy leagues as a WR3/WR4, but will be hard to trust in Week 9 against the Chargers.

Personally I feel that Jeudy isn't some amazing talent, but Jameis has made those type of fantasy WRs relevant in the past. He's worth a speculative grab on waivers but I'd prioritize the other Browns WRs (Tillman/Moore) ahead of him.

Next Gen Stats
Jameis Winston & Jerry Jeudy (89-yd TD)

Jeudy reached a top speed of 20.74 mph, the fastest speed by a Browns WR since Week 8, 2022 (Amari Cooper hit 20.88 mph), gaining 67 yards after catch, +37 YAC over expected (most by a Browns receiver since 2021).

Another good game in poor weather conditions.
Jeudy steps up with key receptions to keep drives alive and posts good numbers.
Jerry Jeudy really is emerging into a solid #1 WR.

Forced to use him last night because of bye week hell. I’ll take 11.5 all day especially considering the conditions. But this is also the first time I’ve watched an entire game of his. Looks legit to me.
