Sean McVay called Jordan Whittington a “mature rookie” after the sixth-round pick had six catches for 74 yards.
"He played like a grown man with the ball in his hands [and] did a great job without it," McVay said. "I just really like him. He's going to be a factor for us."

#Rams OC Mike LaFleur on Jordan Whittington:
“We felt pretty confident that when the pads got on and there was real football, he was gonna even be a bigger problem and I think that showed. He’s got a long way to go. He’s a kid that’s really confident and the teammates are pretty confident in him as well.”
LaFleur saying they'll have to have conversations about whether Whittington will continue to play in preseason games is very interesting, given the fact that the Rams don't like to play their key players in the preseason

"Jordan Whittington. The rookie receiver was my sleeper way back in the spring, and will clearly factor into the offense in some way this season (though isn’t a lead target). Whittington was a former running back whose catch-and-run ability is more fullback-like, if a fullback was also pretty dang fast."
YesWhittington played all 26 snaps after Kupp left.
Atwell played 10.

Yes, someone to roster, but I think Robinson will get the most targets.Anything to see here with Kupp and Nacua out?
Some are saying that Whittington is Kupp's direct backup and that he will essentially get most of Kupp's targets.Yes, someone to roster, but I think Robinson will get the most targets.Anything to see here with Kupp and Nacua out?
I'm just saying what I think and that Robinson will get the most targets with both Kupp and Nacua out. Some are saying that Whittington is Kupp's direct backup and that he will essentially get most of Kupp's targets.Yes, someone to roster, but I think Robinson will get the most targets.Anything to see here with Kupp and Nacua out?
I believe they trust Robinson more and that will translate to more targets, but just my opinion and I could be wrong. Some are saying that Whittington is Kupp's direct backup and that he will essentially get most of Kupp's targets.Yes, someone to roster, but I think Robinson will get the most targets.Anything to see here with Kupp and Nacua out?
I don't see it with Johnson. I would want Robinson for the short-term and Whittington for the long-term. I dropped Johnson and kept Whittington to pickup an RB off waivers.I have Tyler on my bench... Not too impressed. Would anyone straight swap him for Whittington on the wire or is it too soon?
I like what whitington did in camp but I'm not a huge camp hype guy - I just don't see Tyler doing anythng special
He's jumped to my second most owned redraft WR in the last two weeks and am sitting on him in 10 such leagues. He won't be in every lineup, but he'll be in a few of them.Starting him at WR3/Flex spots this week. Played every single offensive snap of the 2nd half last game. Buying the hype from the summer.

I'm also thinking of starting Whitt this week as well. I think McVay catches people by surprise with him this week.

Stash? I'm starting him!Would love to be able to stash him but with all the injuries and no IR slots, I have no one I can drop.
Thing thing about DR is he's a better 2 or 3 than a 1, but he will still draw #1 coverage. Whittington fits the bill to run a lot of the underneath and sideline stuff Puka excels at. He's also low key beastly with the ball in his hands. Robinson and Johnson should help spread the field, and San Francisco's weak spot has to be considered their corners. We all know about their D-Line and pass rush, meaning Stafford will need to get the ball out quickly to stay alive. Whittington is stepping into big shoes, but I believe he'll lead the Rams in receiving this week, whatever that means after their implosion last week. Just a theory.I would love to see him startable, but trusting Robinson this week... we'll see how he performs and go from there... so definitely feeling good about the stash.

Non-zero chance Jorduka Whittingkupp gets 10+ targets this week

This. Whittington ran 62% of his routes from the slot after Kupp was injured. 11-126-0 on 17 targets in preseason. Is a good blocker - gets you on the field in a McVay offense. We've discussed him all week on #FFHappyHour. I've added him everywhere I can.
I basically chose between him or Nailor. I went Nailot for this week.Stash? I'm starting him!Would love to be able to stash him but with all the injuries and no IR slots, I have no one I can drop.
OTHO it was a solid 22.2% target share.2 targetsPlayed every single offensive snap of the 2nd half last game.
I tend to agree. There's a lot of optimism in this thread. I like Whittington too but I wouldn't be surprised by a total dud either. I'm only starting him because all my other options are bad, underperforming, or both. Just hoping the Rams come out to battle after laying down and completely rolling over last week.Have any of the Rams OL returned? If not I'm completely out on this offense until Kupp returns or the OL is healthy. They are paper thin in pass protection.
Not sure its possible, but my guess would be to try to surprise the Niners and go with an ultra run heavy approach with a high dosage of Williams mixed with Corum.McVay is in jeopardy of starting 0-3 and staying in the NFC West dweller the entire season. He claims he is a better coach than Shanahan and has a ring to prove it.
If you are McVay how do you beat the Niners at home on Sunday?

Yes, at minimum Alaric Jackson is back but I said upthread and will again that the banged up OL might be an assist to Whittingon who should excel in the shorter passing game with his strong YAC ability.I tend to agree.
