WR Kenny Golladay, NYG (1 Viewer)

The Athletic's Nick Baumgardner reports a "second-round pick might be on the table" if the Lions trade Kenny Golladay this offseason.

Baumgardner conceded a second round draft pick in exchange for Golladay was a highly optimistic outcome for Detroit, but possible considering his production when healthy. Any team interested in acquiring Golladay would have to overlook his injury-ravaged 2020 season in which he played five games and caught 20 passes for 338 yards and two touchdowns. Baumgardner said the Lions signing Golladay to the franchise tender before trading him "feels like a manageable option." With Marvin Jones on his way out of Detroit, Jared Goff could be stuck with one of the league's worst receiver groups if Golladay is traded.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports impending free agent Kenny Golladay is a "strong" franchise tag candidate.

"I'll be very surprised if he's actually available," Rapoport added. The Lions are projected to be roughly $20 million over the cap after soaking up Jared Goff's $27.5 million on the books, making it harder to reach a long-term deal with Golladay, whose market value is likely somewhere between $16-$18 million annually. Currently in the midst of a full rebuild, it's also possible Detroit negotiates a tag and trade scenario with another suitor. Over the Cap projects the franchise tender for wide receivers to fall in the range of $16.4 million.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport "would be surprised" if impending free agent Kenny Golladay was not franchise tagged.

Rapsheet has been beating this drum for several weeks now. The rebuilding Lions are not in the greatest salary cap situation, but they can always make the numbers work. At the very least, Golladay should be tagged with an eye toward a potential trade. Per Rapsheet, the Lions are genuine in their desire to keep the 27-year-old wideout. Remaining in Detroit with Jared Goff would probably make Golladay more of a WR2 than WR1 for 2021.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Lions won't use the franchise tag on Kenny Golladay.

It's something of a stunner after weeks in which it appeared the team would apply the tag to Golladay and possibly trade him for a second or third round draft pick. He's now entering the open market as the top wideout unless Allen Robinson escapes the Bears. Fresh off playing just five games and catching 20 passes for 338 yards and two touchdowns in 2020, Golladay will look to return to his 2019 form in another city. A healthy Golladay in a good offense should be one of the game's most productive pass catchers. Detroit now has one of the NFL's worst, most depleted wide receiver groups. Tyrell Williams (for now) profiles as the team's unquestioned WR1.

Miami could be interested. He's a year younger than Parker, but I don't think he's much of an upgrade. Miami needs a quick speedy WR who gets separation.

>>The Dolphins are expected to show considerable interest in Golladay once the legal tampering period begins next week. One league source went so far as to predict he ends up either with the Dolphins or the Giants.<<

I don't get why it's a stunner he wasn't tagged? Has no one looked at the salary cap mess the Lions are in this year due to trading Stafford and taking on Goff's contract? Even after cutting Trufant, restructuring Collins and other moves they just got under the cap and by not nearly enough to afford the WR tag.

I don't know. I think I'd rather have these guys on a competent offense with more competition for touches than as the only real options on a terrible offense.

He will go after the money giving his age and I don't blame him.  I didn't realize he was 27.  He will be 31 by the time his next contract comes up, so protect your family my man.  A sneaky signing would be the Colts.  With Hilton fading and may sign somewhere else, he would be a good fit.  Will Fuller makes a lot of sense for Indy too.

I don’t think “terrible offense” is a foregone conclusion. While I don’t think Goff is very good, he’s certainly not the worst qb to start a lions season the last 20 years. He’s better than a good handful of guys starting last year. He was able to make 2 fantasy viable wrs in LA. The defense won’t suddenly become good this year, so they’ll be playing catch up. Not terrible for fantasy purposes.

I will have to disagree there. Goff always seemed more a product of his system than a guy who builds up other players. He's a big step down from Stafford. I think him throwing to a WR set of Tyrell Williams, Cephus, and a rookie is going to severely cap the offense.

Sure seems like a good fit for what Baltimore would seemingly want (some size on the outside). Of course they would have to convince him that capping out at catching 50 balls a year would be in his best interest.

ESPN's Cameron Wolfe confirms the Dolphins are "in" on free agent Kenny Golladay.

As are the Giants. The Dolphins' desire to add a high-end receiver is the worst-kept secret of free agency. Corey Davis is off the board to the Jets, but Golladay, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Will Fuller remain. Golladay is the only one of the three to draw a Dolphins link thus far.

why do I keep seeing Golladay to the Giants speculation?  Giants are $200K under the cap....just dont see it

After seeing Agholor and Davis deals - Golladay will be at least $15M per yr....any chance Colts would be in mix?  Lots of cap room and losing TY they could use a target like that for Wentz

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there is "mutual interest" between the Giants and free agent WR Kenny Golladay.

The Giants are bringing in Golladay for a visit, presumably to check out his hip and figure out what happened at the end of the 2020 season. It would be a surprise if the two parties don't iron out a deal while he's in New York, but the fact that a deal can't be signed over the phone goes to show how soft the wide receiver market is right now. There's simply more supply than demand. As for the fit, Golladay would slide into X receiver alongside deep threat Darius Slayton and slot man Sterling Shepard. It's a decent three-receiver set for Daniel Jones who is in a prove it year. Golladay's fantasy WR1/2 appeal would take a hit if the Giants put ink to paper.

ESPN's Dianna Russini reports the Bengals have sent an offer to Kenny Golladay.

SI's Albert Breer reports it's a one-year "prove it" offer, and it's unknown if Golladay has any interest. For now, Golladay is heading to New York for a visit with the Giants. His hip will likely be examined, and he'll potentially have to answer for why he missed so much time in 2020 with the Lions. Despite the concerns, There is mutual interest between Golladay and the Giants. It appears that Golladay's market didn't fully develop as planned, but a deal should get done within the next 24 hours.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reports the Giants "have a lot of questions" ahead of their Thursday meeting with free agent Kenny Golladay, and that there's "no guarantee he gets an offer."

It sounds like this visit is happening solely because Golladay's market has crashed. One of the questions is presumably what the heck happened with Golladay and his mysterious 2020 hip injury. A sideline dominator, Golladay would be a huge addition to the Giants' offense, literally and figuratively. He provides an element third-year pro Daniel Jones has never had at pass catcher.

One of the more surprising developments of this off-season has been the weak WR FA market. After the fact it makes total sense - great class last year, very deep class this year - but none of the know-it-all types proclaiming that now predicted this even a few weeks ago.

Yeah...which is frustrating as a Packers fan that either A.  The Packers have not tried to rework Rodgers contract...to get further under the cap and make a move on some of these WRs that are not all that costly.  B.  Rodgers has not been willing to do so.

Because they seemingly would be in a good position to lure someone like this in even if on a 1 year deal.  Sell that being across from Davante will open up coverages.  Playing with a QB like Rodgers won't hurt you.  A chance to go deep into the playoffs.  And then cash in as the cap rises in coming years.

A Team Signing Kenny Golladay will want a Physical prior to making formal offer. Played only 5 games in 2020 due to hip injury. And if you're his Representatives, you don't want a deal agreed upon & then a failed physical hurting his market. Happens rarely, but it's worth noting.

#Giants SHOULD say best wishes to Golladay. When a players representatives are so opposed to medical due diligence, its never a good sign.

#Giants Aren’t playing guess and check here. Just hired Kyle O’Brien from Detroit. And he’s doing his job. They don’t want a visit in this COVID world to play “Hi How Are You”. They want their doctors to look at his hip and say Yes or No on a massive Guarantee.

Either Gettleman is playing the hardest of hardball with Golladay right now of there's legit issues with his hip that got flagged by the Giants. Guaranteed money/insurance then becomes the issue and I won't lie, starting to become telling that he left the Giants and Bears without a deal. It becomes more of a factor IF the report by @Wrightreportt is true. Starting to think he just might do a one year deal with the Bengals at this point.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Ravens have reached out to Kenny Golladay's agent.

Golladay landing in Baltimore's run-heavy offense is probably a worst case scenario for fantasy purposes. No team threw fewer passes than the Ravens in both 2019 and 2020. He would instantly become the team's No. 1 wideout, dinging Marquise Brown's short-term prospects. Golladay's free agency floundering could indicate that the former Lion hasn't been impressed with offers from teams like the Bengals and Giants.

Golladay owners yesterday: NYG? C’mon no - please no, not NYG!

Golladay owners today: Baltimore? C’mon NYG - make an offer! Please make an offer!!

There has been a lot of chatter (not written but def discussed on boards & talk radio) about whether KG could have come back from his mysterious hip injury last year. IDK if that is factoring into the lack of offers? He switched agents (his original agent is suing the current agent) and I’m wondering if his guy overshot the market...like, feeling the pressure to match/exceed what the Lions were offering last year (4/5 years @ $18M per) but neither of them recognizing that’s just not realistic in the current market.

ProFootballTalk's Mike Floria reports Kenny Golladay wants $18.5 million per year.

The Bears -- who reportedly offered the free agent wideout somewhere around $12 million -- were woefully short of Golladay's asking price. The $18.5 million is hardly an outrageous demand for an established receiver like Golladay, who remains likely to sign a short-term deal. The Ravens on Friday joined the mix of teams vying for Golladay's services in 2021.

KG wanting 18.5 per reports.       Hope Gettleman is smart enough to not to do that with the WR market this year.
He is arguably the best of the bunch, but the 2020 hip issue or whatever the hell kept him out all year raises significant questions about the risk of such a signing. That's a lot of scratch for a dude who basically checked out last year.

He has been grossly overvalued in fantasy circles for years.  It's strange to me how much love he's gotten considering he's never had more than 70 catches in a season.

Agreed - I've never bought into the hype, thus never drafted him at his ADP (or any, for that matter) but I do think the talent is there.

I've never been more torn here. On paper this should be a tremendous fit, but at the same time this guy went from rags to riches. Human nature to get lazy.

LOL. Strange to me how love he got in 2019 when he led all NFL WR's in touchdowns en route to a Top 5 FF finish. Not bad ROI for a WR2 drafted ADP 15-20.

Or in 2018 when he could be gotten off the waiver wire and ridden to a Top 20 finish in only 15 games.

2020 didn’t work out so well though.

He was a beast for the three people who still play in TD-only leagues, yes.

Just glad he turned down Bob Quinn’s extension offer for multiple years at $18-19M. He turns 28 in November and they are years away from being competitive.
