WR Kevin White, NO (2 Viewers)

That's what I thought too but 63% of 185 voters on Twitter said white as did about the same percent of several responders on message boards.   Found it interesting.

Kevin White caught 1-of-3 targets for six yards in the Bears' second preseason game against the Patriots.
White did a good job coming back to the ball on a curl route for his lone grab, but he later committed a bad drop when lined up on the left side of the formation. As noted by Rotoworld draft guru Josh Norris, White never played on the left side in college, as he strictly lined up wide right. While reports have been glowing on White much of the practice season, he still has plenty to learn.

Kevin White caught 1-of-4 targets for three yards Saturday against the Chiefs.
White had a rough day, dropping a screen pass in the third quarter and running what looked like a bad route on the next play. White has yet to top one catch or six yards in a game this preseason and has been limited to mostly screen passes. It looks like he still has a long way to go, but his upside is worth the risk in the eighth round.

8th round?  This guy shouldn't go earlier than the last few rounds.
Agreed. While he's not a 'rookie' he still kind of is, didn't play last season and he was considered raw anyways. He may be decent in the last half of the season but I don't put much faith in the Bears offense as a whole.

Kevin White

Week 2 10 snaps 1 target 1 catch 3 yards
Week 3 32 snaps (46%) 3 targets 1 catch 6 yards
Week 4 31 snaps (48%) 4 targets 1 catch 3 yards

73 snaps 8 targets 3 receptions 12 yards

oof

Pretty  much a "do not draft" at his current ADP.  Definitely still worth a late round flier, but unlikely he goes late with all of the websites' rankings.

Ouch. I drafted Jeffrey in startup dynasty so ended up taking White a few rounds past his dynasty ADP (which still felt high) and at least this is confirming my unease.

Looked big & FAST last night. Hard to stick with off the ball. Moves more like a Fitzgerald than Julio in my eyes... but maybe its the dreads?

I saw the highlight of his best catch. His steps look kind of choppy to me, like there were some wasted steps in there. Didn't look smooth to me. Glad to see him get open although the route took some time to develop.

Interested in seeing more of him. I have drafted him a few times this year in redraft which I may end up regretting, but the last game was at least a promising sign of life.

Crazy he could gain a legitimate 3-4 feet of separation with such a choppy route. I agree-- he's not 100% fluid. But he's freaky explosive.. and bigger than dbs think.

Agree about the running as that caught my eye immediately. I remember someone mentioning something about his gait awhile back. It looked like he ran bow-legged to a certain degree. Definitely did not look smooth.

*After watching it a few more times bow-legged seems a little strong. Maybe just a little unrefined.

Is there a video of the pay people are talking about?

Not sure if that will take you directly to the play or not. But the highlights at the top, the play is called Brian Hoyer to Kevin White for 26 yard catch and run.

I haven't seen his other plays from week four yet. He did have 3 other receptions.

These guys that analyze pre-season stats, :lmao:
It is all we have aside from College performance to look at in regards to Kevin White. There is no regular season performance to look at yet.

What else would I or anyone else have to talk about in regards to Kevin White so far?

The articles I have read regarding Kevin White in practice say that he is still very raw as a route runner with a lot to learn about being a NFL WR. Which is then supported by the fact that he was also not good in preseason play.

If you are suggesting or think that I think preseason performance represents what they will do in the regular season that is incorrect. I don't. I certainly did not draft Kevin White because of preseason performance. But since I did draft Kevin White, obvious I am going to look at how he is doing, because that is all there is to look at. It wasn't good.

Bears OC Dowell Loggains indicated Kevin White's "responsibilities" may be "scaled back" after a rough opener.
The box score showed a team-high seven targets against the Texans, but White got Jay Cutler intercepted on a bad route and came away with 34 yards. "Trying to keep his role as simple as possible for him and do things that he's very comfortable doing," Loggains said regarding the Bears' goal for White. "At West Virginia, the route tree wasn't big. He played on one side of the field." It would not be surprising if White began losing snaps and targets to Eddie Royal.

I read the entire article.  That's not all it said.  Didn't sound like he was going to play less.  Royal plays slot anyway.  If anything,  it sounded like they were going to simply things to get him more involved.

Sounds like Cordarrelle Patterson. @-CE- where you at?  LOL.

Droppable in standard. No idea how the QB situation will fare either. I am just hoping the Bears grab a QB with their top 5 pick

This guy supposedly ran a 4.35 40 but now looks like a defensive end trying to play WR. I will keep an eye on him if Alshon leaves but he is a ways off from being rosterable.

I didn't watch any of his snaps, so I can't comment on that. Revisiting his WVU clips, I feel like he's maybe a bit too pigeon-toed for his own good. Has a weird "heel-striker" running style. It looks pretty in a straight line, but maybe he's having issues with planting and separating out of breaks, which can be a really important skill in the NFL. I'm not gonna jump ship where I have him because his value isn't that high and it's still really early in his career. Plenty of great WRs were slow out of the gates. I'm getting worried, but I won't reach full panic mode until the end of the season comes. Right now you can chalk up some of his struggles to rust and inexperience. If he hasn't shown some flashes of dominance by the end of the year then it will really be time to panic.

Not giving up on him just yet.  Too talented.  I expected him to be sluggish and have a slow start.  Holding for another 3-4 weeks minimum to see how he develops.

He could be one of those mid season blossomings.

He has only played two NFL games. He actually had some receptions. The Bears will likely throw the ball a lot. As long as he stays involved I would expect him to get better in time.

This!

One of the best attributes in Fantasy Football is patience. Build a deep bench to let your young players develop.

I think I have seen what you are talking about KoJ. I didn't watch too much of last nights game though.

Gruden made a comment on MNF that White looked slow in practice. Maybe that is him adjusting...or maybe the injury is still impacting him in some way.
I wouldn't put any stock in anything Gruden says.  He's a talking head on TV.
