WR Marquise Brown, KC (1 Viewer)

Separated shoulder was what I saw, went to the hospital
Hmmmm

-NFL time frame is anywhere from about a week to maybe a month+
I would say Week 1 is in possible jeopardy but unless surgery is required I think all this does is lower his draft stock which makes it easier to take him if you already liked him

He was a bench WR on most teams you were drafting him, doesn't really change much
Rashee Rice assuming no suspension is going to inch up a bit

If it is similar’s to Tyreek’s 2019 injury , Hollywood will be OK in 5 weeks. Tyreek was hurt week 1 and returned week 6. Maybe Hollywood misses week 1, but hopefully he’s injury won’t be was severe as Tyreek’s and will be ready for at the start of the season.

IIRC Tyreek’s injury was different. It didn’t take as long to heal because of the nature of the injury. He fractured his sternum. A sternoclavicular joint dislocation that took a month to set/heal.

If this is a separated shoulder/AC joint sepaearion, it can be much more problematic due to the nature of the game. Taking hits to the shoulder after such an injury is a nightmare.

Often it requires surgical intervention, and has a much longer recovery period. Up to 12 weeks.

Sternoclavicular joint dislocation (SCJD) is a rare injury that occurs when the sternoclavicular and costoclavicular ligaments completely rupture. It's usually caused by a single, strong, indirect force to the shoulder, such as a blow to the front of the shoulder or a collision sport. SCJDs are classified as either anterior or posterior, depending on which direction the collarbone moves:
•Anterior
The end of the clavicle is pushed forward, in front of the sternum. This is the more common type of SCJD, usually caused by a blow to the front of the shoulder, such as falling on an outstretched hand.

•Posterior
The end of the clavicle is pushed behind the sternum. This type of SCJD can be caused by traumatic contact driving the shoulder forward, or by a direct impact to the superior sternal or medial clavicular surfaces. Posterior SCJDs are potentially fatal and are a true emergency because of the vital structures behind the medial clavicle.

<<< X-spurt

Anyone ever wonder why they call him "Hollywood"? I remember Hollywood Henderson. Is Brown worthy of that nickname?

This seems to indicate it’s not as severe as thought. Suggest a week, one or two return.

Actually it would align with the severity of Tyreek Hill’s injury. Hill’s injury sat him for 35 days. A day has already passed so 34 days from now would be Sunday, September 15, which is Week 2 against the Bengals. Putting Brown to miss the remaining two preseason games and the regular season opener. I think Brown owners could live with that.

#Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is expected to miss four to six weeks with the sternoclavicular injury he suffered, per multiple sources. Opening night is three weeks from this Thursday night.

KC opens up at home vs Baltimore and then Cincinnati.

I had high expectations for Brown this year, but his skill set sort of seems repetitive to what Rice and Worthy did last night. I'm not sure the targets will be there unless Rice misses time.

I've always like Hollywood Brown and matching him up with Mahomes is ideal. But I got a bit deluded here thinking of what Mahomes can do with him.

KC is run and a short middle passing offense to Kelce/Rice. Brown will be enough of a threat to help (along with Worthy) to keep the safeties honest. Which is only going to hep them do what they want to do...run and short middle passing. Defenses scheme to not give up the big play. What we saw last year is what we will see this year from KC. I invested in Hollywood and Mahomes thinking the additions would open up the offense. I was wrong, it's going to let them continue to do what they want to do just more efficiently.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid on Hollywood Brown: "They all set a little different. It's something that has to move to get back into place... from what I understand. I'm not a physician by any means. You're talking just centimeters of it being off can be a problem. So you want to make sure those things are healed in and are in the right spot."

Chiefs are having Brown get a couple of opinions. Reid notes he's working hard but sometimes you just have to wait.

Sources: The Chiefs are placing WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown on IR, and he will undergo surgery to repair his dislocated SC joint. After multiple imaging studies, it was determined that, although Hollywood felt better, his injury was not healing correctly. Without corrective surgery, he would risk a more serious long-term injury.
The surgery is scheduled for Monday with Dr. Peter Millett in Vail, CO, and the Chiefs will monitor his rehab progress throughout the season.

Helps Worthy's development, but yes, a drag for those rostering Brown.
I think he's droppable
I have Mahomes which is why I want to keep him.

If you are a Mahomes owner does this change your outlook?
Zero. Stacks are overrated. Mahomes can still produce the way he always would, and I can't see a situation where he is fantasy relevant in the next 2-3 months, which puts you basically at the end of the fantasy regular season.

Did a bunch of early drafts before NFL FA. Drafted him and Mooney a lot, felt like one was going to be a Chief and both were so cheap just needed one of them. Was sure patting myself on the back after a few days of NFL FA.

Sigh.

Cutting everywhere, small chance he could return in like December or something but not worth holding for that slim chance.
