Even if we take our FF bias out of it, WTF was Payton doing last night? The last TD drive, they were down 2 scores, but they were huddling up, running down the play clock, no urgency at all. Even if you are going to settle for what the D gives you underneath, show some urgency so you have time for a 2nd score.?Sean Payton is a terrible coach. Let's avoid our best WR for the good part of the game. Good strategy Sean!
It was truly awful.Even if we take our FF bias out of it, WTF was Payton doing last night? Agreed. Down 2 scores and they weren't in any hurry at all. He had to get Hightower some more carries I guess.Even if we take our FF bias out of it, WTF was Payton doing last night? Yep - never mind that Brees was actually moving the ball with the no-huddle, never mind that you have 3 outstanding receiving options + Fleener, no - let's take our sweet time, huddle up & then run the ball.Agreed. Down 2 scores and they weren't in any hurry at all. He had to get Hightower some more carries I guess.
It was dumb-founding; I understand trying to force the Panthers to stop playing a deep cover 2/3 with the run, but you can't do that down 2 scores with 7 minutes left!Agreed. Down 2 scores and they weren't in any hurry at all. He had to get Hightower some more carries I guess.
Bumping for comparisonThomas 47 catches 573 yards 5 tds
Cooks 41 catches 596 yards 5 tds
Snead 37 catches 475 yards 2 tds
Thomas is on pace for 94 catches, 1146 yards and 10 tds.
Take out his best and worst games, and he is on pace for 91 catches, 1144 yards and 8 touchdowns
In his last 6 games thomas has 37 catches for 457 yards and 5 tds. That's an average of 6 catches, 76 yards and .84 tds per game. Over a 16 game season that would be 96/1204/14.
For comparison, Colston's best year was 98/1202/11. Jimmy Graham's best yesrs were 99/1310/11 and 86/1215/16.
In other words, as a rookie, Thomas is already on pace for the kinds of numbers Brees' best receivers have ever put up in their best seasons ever.
He is really good. His only bad game as far as it being his fault is the two fumbles he had against Denver. He catches everything thrown to him. When he gets lower yardage it is just because he didn't get a lot of targets. In an offense where the ball is spread around, he has built great chemistry and trust with Brees, and that says a lot since he is a rookiebenched him in favor of Kelce. Had no impact on me with Reed, Brown and ODB blowing up but I just keep swinging and missing on this dude. Put him in week 8 after a few weeks of real production and he went 6/63. Decided to put him back on the bench the next week and he grabs 2 TDs. Feeling like the idiot that I am, I put him back into my lineup and the next two weeks he gets me 2 and 9 points. Back to the bench and Bam! has his career game. This feels like when I used to have Chad Johnson on my team and he'd get me 6-9 points for four weeks in a row, I'd bench him, and he'd grab 3 TDs. I know I'll just never make the right call with him. Frustrating.
He also volleyballed a pass in that game that was picked off - he had 1 really bad game.He is really good. His only bad game as far as it being his fault is the two fumbles he had against Denver. I sent Big Ben and Montgomery in exchange for Hightower and Thomas. Didn't know if it would work, but I think I got a deal.He also volleyballed a pass in that game that was picked off - he had 1 really bad game.
That said, man am i glad I traded for this guy! When Snead was dealing with the toe injury I sent Artist-Payne (who'd just been tabbed starter) for Thomas as insurance in case Snead couldn't go.
man did I get lucky!
Anyone have any updates here?Michael Thomas (foot) held out of practice
Michael Thomas (foot) didn't practice Wednesday.
It's a surprise after Thomas played the entire game last week. There's not going to be many updates on Thomas with this being the Saints. Thomas is a borderline WR1 if he plays against the Bucs.
Dec 7 - 5:30 PM
Saints don't typically talk about injuries, but Wednesdays are often a day of rest for anyone banged up. Until I see an update today or tomorrow that he missed multiple practices, I'm not panicking.Anyone have any updates here?
Easy swap for me for Snead. No Thomas = more for Snead/Cooks.Bummer because now we also must consider how the injury may hamper him if he plays on Sunday.
Thinking about going in another direction.
That's a great swap. I can start a second QB (and do virtually every week) but I had decided to bench Bortles, along with Alan Robinson. Now I think I have to go back to Bortles...or RGIIIEasy swap for me for Snead. No Thomas = more for Snead/Cooks.
...oh wait
Does it help Brandon Coleman?Easy swap for me for Snead. No Thomas = more for Snead/Cooks.
Probably helps all Saints receivers, but in order I'd say it goes:Does it help Brandon Coleman?
Full practice or limited? Ugh...foot injury still has me nervous.Fever in the Funkhouse said:
Limited and he has a 4:25 kickoff too. Fantastic.Full practice or limited? Ugh...foot injury still has me nervous.
FantasyPros has Thomas at WR13 this week, which IMO is craziness. There are easily 25-30 other names I'd put in ahead of him, especially given the late kickoff. Personally I'm sitting him for Malcolm Mitchell and not really agonizing over it.Think he plays. That being said I dont really trust him even in this good matchup. 3 for 41 and 0 tds.
Go grab a Gabriel in short bench leagues and throw him in there instead.
Only definitive answer we can get is if someone on here actually knows him or knows someone who knows him.Anyone know or theorizing that missing practices this week was some sort of "saving" him for game day?
Deciding between him and Jennings. May actually roll with Monty
Depends upon whether he gets the Patrick Peterson Shadow treatment. If he does, then he's maybe 3 for 40 yards. If not, he could have a big game. I have a suspicion that Cooks will get coverage from #21.Practiced today. No idea if full or limited.
I know that Arizona has a top-ranked pass D, but over the last month, they have allowed the 4th most points (using my league's scoring, which is pretty typical, non-PPR) to WRs. Peterson's no joke, but does he shadow Cooks?
Is Thomas viable (assuming he's healthy) this week vs Ari?
True, but both Landry & Stills did fine last week. Did Peterson cover Parker?Depends upon whether he gets the Patrick Peterson Shadow treatment. If he does, then he's maybe 3 for 40 yards. If not, he could have a big game. I have a suspicion that Cooks will get coverage from #21.
