WR Nico Collins, HOU (2 Viewers)

I’m concerned about him this week vs. Surtain. Denver tends to have him shadow opponents WR1’s and even though Houston spreads it around, if he isolates in Collins it’s likely to mean a bad day. Considering starting Rashee Rice instead. Just something to consider for those of you with Collins.
But what if he shadows Dell?
Footballguys thinks he’s shadowing Dell, as they have that matchup hilighted in their ‘Receivers with great/bad matchups’ column.

If true, kind of flips it onto an A+ match-up for Collins (further boosted with Schultz out).

He can’t shadow Dell whole game too quick.

IF true being the key. Hope they know what they’re talking about, as I’m now starting Collins in a couple leagues where I was on the fence because of Surtain.

I’d bet he ends up shadowing Collins the most will be interested to see how it plays out. Either way I’m starting and putting Noah Brown in flex Brown won’t be shadowed for sure and Stroud likes him.

You saved my butt with this post. I flipped him back in 5 minutes before kick-off.

Difference is Nico is an X WR who demands attention and can produce no matter who is across from him. Dell lives off Nico taking coverage away so he can feast in the slot and at flanker vs single coverage.
Dude has like 60 lbs and 6 inches on Dell. How is Dell the number one WR again? lol.

That said, sad for Dell. I'm not sure Nico's performance changes much as he's basically a top-15 WR. Dells 8 targets a game gotta go somewhere else now.

Dell was often the #1 look because of the separation he gets. He was a 1st read type of guy, and Collins could very well take that 1st read role in addition to what he already does.

I think Dell's injury gives Collins a legit top-5 ceiling. He could essentially be Houston's AJ Brown. Probably not the best thing for Stroud's ceiling, but this isn't the Stroud thread.

Got the pleasure of going to the game today. Nico WAS the passing game today. Not a lot else was working with Denver's pressure, but Nico was completely in tune with Stroud even when things were breaking down. FWIW, Metchie got WIDE open down the middle just before half and Stroud overthrew him for what would have been a long TD.

Nico had a first read share of 27.4% to Dell's 23.2% when both were on the field.

Dell needs Nico on the field much more than vice versa just due to the roles they play. It's not a knock on Dell, but when it comes to flankers and slot WRs, they need a good X type that draws the other team's top coverage guy on a normal basis.

Benched him for Ridley and regretting it big time. I’m down by 2 and he has Mixon. I’d have this week locked up if I would’ve played Nico

This dude was the steal of every redraft I landed him in. The disrespect he was getting in the preseason. I landed him in all 4 of my NFFC leagues in the 8th-9th round.

Beast.
I regretted not drafting him immediately after he was picked. But I traded for him minutes before the trade deadline. :shades:

He went undrafted in one of my leagues, and I swapped Doubs for him before week 1. Thank god.

I tried to trade for him in my other league multiple times, but the other owner wouldn't budge.

I used to write how AJB was excellent but still struggling against the best of the best CBs and how that was the next step/final step in his development.
Nico has accelerated his own development beautifully this year and is at that point.
He's one of my favorite players ever in this step. He is legitimately running/cutting harder and positioning his bod and fighting for every ball when he's covered by a top CB. He crystal clearly ups his game and I just love to watch it. If you have game pass, ya gotta look and enjoy it.
And no I don't mean he's dogging it the other times. If ya ever watch NBA it's like when top player covers top player- you can see the focus and determination level raised- it's the competitive spirit not lack of effort.
Personally, this is why Nico is one of my top WRs in dynasty. I have him higher than any rankings I've seen. He's checked every box for me.
My only negative is what about when they figure out the run game. How much work will Dell and Nico get them?

Thoughts on Nico with Sauce Gardner playing across from him this week?

Debating between James Cook and Nico in my Flex, 0.5 PPR 12 team. The weather in New York is forecast for rainy and windy on Sunday, no weather issues in KC....that might be my deciding factor.

Texans WR Nico Collins (calf) does not practice on Wednesday.

Collins suffered a calf injury in the opening minutes of a rain-soaked loss to the Jets on Sunday. Considering Collins also battled calf issues earlier in November, there is some concern that this injury could cause him to miss Sunday’s game against the Titans. If he does, that would mean Noah Brown would occupy the number one wide receiver role, with Robert Woods in the slot, and rookie Xavier Hutchinson filling in the other outside receiver spot. Of course, with C.J. Stroud in concussion protocol, we’re not sure which quarterback they’ll be catching passes from.

Terrible timing for me in my main dynasty league as I have Stroud(2QB league) and Nico. I expect both to be out this week. Even if Nico returns, I’m not starting him with Mills at QB.

I doubt he plays, and even if he does, I'm not touching him with a bum calf and CJ trending towards not playing.

Nico Collins (calf) did not practice Thursday.
Collins has missed each of the team’s two practices to open the week and is trending toward missing Week 15 if he’s not able to practice in a limited capacity on Friday. The Texans could be without C.J. Stroud and Collins in a pivotal matchup against the Titans and are already without Tank Dell for the remainder of the season. Wide receivers Noah Brown and Robert Woods would likely serve as the team’s top-two receivers, with rookie Xavier Hutchinson playing the role of a distant WR3.

In one of my rookie drafts in 2021 I waited patiently to draft St Brown as he fell and fell and I was 1 pick away I felt sick when I missed him by 1 pick and I ended up getting Collins as the consolation prize. It took a few years but I don't feel as bad as I did that day when I missed on St Brown.

Wow. I think for value and past scoring, I'd still rather have had St. Brown, but who knew? You had determination and college production vs. the size/speed combination with lack of college production. One translated by the end of his rookie year, the other we've seen this year what he can be when he's cooking.

Yes I would much rather have St Brown but like I said "I don't feel as bad now as I did that day"............I still rather have St Brown but 2 years ago when St Brown was balling out and Nico was doing nothing I felt horrible now I just "don't feel as bad"
