OK, but knowing that people follow your social media accounts due to your high profile son was not good.  Dad knew what he was doing.   take out the word "Make" and replace with "Post"

As an admitted AB truther please allow me to say this is apples to oranges. AB never required an on field resurgence, he just had to get his act together off the field in order to get on the field.

I tend to agree with your sentiment, but then after watching that "Everybody Hurts" video, does Beckham really need anything (assuming his shoulder is okay) but a quarterback? 

I personally had to watch Baker all of 2019 and didn't see anything resembling a good QB. That might be all in the past now, but Mayfield and OBJ have never been on the same page.

Possible it's mainly a Baker problem for Odell.

Still reason I said what I did was that AB's never play went downhill, whatever the excuse. I guess one could say from a pure stat angle what he did in those 8 weeks last year represented a fall if we are just talking stats. I looked at that was pretty impressive to join a team mid-season after not playing about 1.5 years but fair to say it was a fantasy/stat dropoff.

That's why I tend to agree with you. When Brown was with the Patriots for that game, he still got an absurd amount of targets and when he was eased back into Tampa last year, he was probably close to the number one guy in the pecking order if it wasn't a three-way tie. 

I looked at PFF stats and they always seemed to point Brown's way for target share/hog stats, even in Tampa. 

So yeah, I take your point. 

 
Browns informed WR Odell Beckham of his release. 

Profootballtalk's Mike Florio initially reported the move, while Yahoo's Charles Robinson has since confirmed it. Since the trade deadline has come and gone, Beckham must first clear waivers even though he is a vested veteran. Florio reports that is where the tricky part comes in, as Beckham has agreed to a "revised contract that reduces the team’s obligation to pay Beckham, if he’s not claimed on waivers and becomes eligible for the balance of his salary termination pay." As Florio points out, the key for Beckham is making sure his salary does not go low enough that he actually gets claimed. Beckham wants to clear waivers and be free to choose his new home. Robinson reports the Browns "failed to receive any trade offers for Beckham," with perhaps only the Saints even considering one. Slowed by injury and intrigue during his star-crossed time in Cleveland, Beckham's initial market could be uncertain, but he will undoubtedly draw interest from a gaggle of competing teams.

Shame we couldn’t make it work. I like Odell but just never fit. Wish him well wherever he lands, thought he looked good this year coming back from the ACL but was just never a part of the offense.

Be surprised if he doesn’t end up on the Saints roster.

I don’t see how it would matter?   If he’s released, doesn’t all the signing bonus accelerate into this year anyway?

I think he might have gone to NO if Winston were still healthy, but after years of dealing with mediocre Baker, I doubt he wants to ensure Taysom Hill and/or Trevor Siemen.  He will want to go somewhere that has a QB that can actually get him the ball.

Yea that's true, he does some ability to chose his path. Figured with Thomas out it would be a logical landing spot but forgot about Winston being out.

 
I think there is an outside chance the Falcons claim him on waivers with Ridley out.  They're 3-4 so despite us all thinking they are out of it, they may not think that.  They're probably a game and half out of a wildcard spot, but I am not trying to figure that out.  Would not be a bad spot for him or for those with OBJ shares.  

 
I think there are a few playoff/fringe playoff teams that can use him:

Packers: would be his best landing spot, Rodgers would get him the ball and defenses would be giving Davante all the attention.

Falcons: desperately need wide receiver help - even if Ridley was active.

Raiders: although not same type of receiver as Ruggs, would help

Chiefs: Hill and OBJ would be formidable

I don't know how the financial settlement will impact his cap hit for the remainder of the year, but I read that any team claiming OBJ will take on the remainder of his money, which is around $8m. No way the falcons can take that on. But I would like the spot if he can get there after waivers.

That's the list of teams with enough cap space to claim obj this year (according to me cursory knowledge of the contract situation). Seems pretty likely he'll clear waivers.

The Browns were willing to eat part of the contract to trade him. That there were no takers means him clearing waivers is a certainty. 

 
What about Indy?  They can still compete for a playoff spot by any measure.  TY Hilton is washed and cant stay on the field and that cupboard is so bare after Michael Pittman.  

 
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said NFL sources named the Raiders among six teams that would be a "good fit" for Odell Beckham. 

Fowler said the Raiders' recent loss of Henry Ruggs made Vegas a more likely destination for OBJ. He also named the Saints, Panthers, Seahawks, 49ers, and the Packers among potential landing spots for OBJ. Beckham, 29, who wore out his welcome in Cleveland after two and a half unproductive seasons, will be subject to waivers by Monday, according to ESPN's Field Yates. "Any team that wants to claim him would have to submit a waiver claim by Monday afternoon and would inherit the remaining 9 weeks of whatever money Beckham is still owed," Yates said. If Beckham wants to play for a contender with a decent quarterback, the Niners, Panthers, and Saints won't make much sense. The Raiders, always willing to give second chances to players cast off by other organizations, could be the most logical place for OBJ. He would be interesting for fantasy purposes in a Vegas offense with the tenth highest neutral pass rate.

Right, unless they were asking for steep pick compensation. But that doesn't seem likely. 

It's also possible the browns just screwed this situation up. They were at least talking to one team (Saints). I'm not sure why the Saints would have talked to them if they weren't willing to give something up.

I'm very curious to see the financial details and impact with the settlement. 

 
In order of sense of signing him I'd say:

1. Raiders-basically fills the Ruggs role, and is possibly a more versatile upgrade.

2. Chiefs-desperately need a 3rd option after Hill/Kelce. OBJ seems a little too high priced though. I think they may be a better fit for somebody like D-Jax. They may just continue to ramp up Josh Gordon as well

3. Packers-they are a lot more aggressive in recent years, but I think they probably stay put. I think Cobb ends up being their only WR move.

4. Saints-Obviously have a need, though if OBJ doesn't like Mayfield as a passer, the grass definitely isn't greener in NO. 

5. Patriots-Probably not a real contender, but they don't really have a true #1 WR. Not sure OBJ is that anymore anyway, but they haven't been shy about adding WRs during the season of late. 

I don't see Seattle, Carolina, SF or Indy as real options. I think the Raiders make perfect sense.

The Saints only have a 1, 2, 4, 5, and a 7. They also have no cap space. To facilitate a trade the Browns would have to eat the whole contract. Obviously the Saints didn't offer one of their first two picks, so would have the 4 been worth it when compared to the restructure and release option? :shrug:  And that's assuming the 4 was even on the table.

They already have three TEs between than 1/2 the NFL's TEs.  Might as well have 4 pro bowl caliber WRs.

Never say never with the 🐐, but I don't know about Beckham's improv ways mixing with Brady. His voice obviously has a level of credibility no one else has, so I wouldn't dismiss Beckham actually listening to him whereas he wouldn't here. But Brady's weapons historically follow a schedule and the Tampa offense under him has really transformed away from an Arians design and to his, so I'd think this would just be a repeat of the same problem. 

I think he really needs to go to a team in which the QB, coach, and front office have built an offense with flexibility to go off schedule. If Kansas City lost Kelce or Hill then he'd be a worthwhile dice roll, but I don't know about his fit on that team right now given their existing issues. He still has ball tracking issues to over come, but that's the sort of situation in which I think he would be in a position to potentially revive his career. 

 
Beckham needs to be with a good QB, end of story. He languishes with a QB that cannot seem to find him when he is open and I think he just loses interest over time, look at his 1st 3 years in the league with Eli Manning at QB, he was terrific, beyond terrific. 

I think he can do well again, maybe not what he was at the start of his career but I don't understand why he can't be paired with a strong QB in the NFL and not flourish? I understand he isn't a huge addition to the locker room and he gets prima donna when things don't go his way but I believe a QB like a Wilson or maybe Rodgers in Green Bay can corral him a little bit, certainly Tom Brady could do it BUT the Bucs are loaded right now, don't see where ODB helps them right now. 

Someone mentioned the Rams, they just cut DeSean, think they are pretty strong with who they have and Stafford, why would you want to mess with him right now? He's running the offense brilliantly. 

Saints have some holes at WR but I don't see Beckham doing well with Hill at QB. 

Not that big a market I'm thinking, his numbers have been way down for quite some time.

If I am Green Bay, I am moving mountains to make it work.  This is their last dance.  Next year its the Jordan Love show.  I think this is a now or never season for them, and this is the exact move a now or never team with a huge hole at WR makes.  I know their front office doesnt make big moves, but this may be different given the situation.

They have Adams as an alpha-WR1, they really need a receiver to work the other side of the field and underneath, Beckham would need to understand he's a role player, might be a lot of 3/36, 4/50 days when they are winning 28-7, they run the ball plenty but not like Cleveland with 2-3 RBs. I could see him doing well there and certainly should be an upgrade over MVS, Lazard, and the rest of the supporting cast plus they lost their TE Tonyan.

Yup.  He could be an alpha in Vegas or Baltimore.  Obviously New Orleans but I dont see that happening.  The opportunity to chase a ring with Aaron Rodgers and to play with one of the all time greats would be appealing and I think he woudl be able to be held in check emotionally there.  He would walk into an established successful locker room with a HOF QB in charge.  Makes too much sense for both sides.

Isn't his lack of looks and playing second/3rd/4th fiddle in an offense what facilitated this mess to begin with?

Yes but Green Bay's offense is a far cry from Cleveland's.  Although it hasnt been demonstrated, it seems logical that a talented WR2 would be able to beat the constant man coverage and be a great tool for a QB who knows how to go through reads and understands defenses.  I dont think they have had a competent WR2 there in a long time.  Imaging having to double Adams and leave OBJ man to man - dude could feast.  He has always been the one getting the stronger coverages, and he has never played with a QB as good as Rodgers.  Eli was good and he ate there.  Rodgers is better and he will face light coverage.  I think its a no-brainer but I am just a guy with a keyboard on a fantasy football website.

I'd be stunned plus they'd have to create about $6M in cap space.

I don't think he gets claimed but if he does I think it will be Jacksonville.

Assuming he hits UFA after he clears waivers I think he's clearly going to prioritize a QB/offense that give him a chance to regain his value. I can see a few possible teams but my money is on the Chiefs.

I agree with the need of a good QB - but I don't think OBJ is going to settle for 4 catches for 50 yards.  Also, I can't even imagine him going to GB.  You went from the NYC limelight to Cleveland to Cheese Country?  It seems like a recipe for disaster.  

Vegas, Baltimore, Jets, Dolphins, Chiefs, Lions all seem more likely - none of which are winning a title this year, with or without OBJ.
