WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Free Agent (4 Viewers)

Fair enough. I think OBJ looked pretty shot the last season he was on the field
Not sure how anyone who watched his play and performance in his last few games during their SB run can say that.

I do think I'm going to be way off on my projected contract numbers though. Was basing a lot on some of the projectoins I saw and believed that were way off for some projected FA WR's the Robert Woods deal which made me believe those projections. That Woods deal looked like a bad contract at the time but the way this FA WR market has gone looks worse and worse.

And still he walks the streets as a homeless NFL Wide Receiver after injuring himself in Super Bowl 56
His stock is way down IMHO, the attitude that comes along with a damaged knee just doesn't seem to make a lot of teams salivate

OBJ for any number of reasons has done nothing close to what he did 2014-2016
His best years since then are pretty mild with 74/1,000/5TD, that's about 2 of those 5-6 years
He's ancient at this point and other than a mild 1 year deal, nobody is going to give this guy a ton of money right now or ever again
His glory days are behind him, he's not a No 1 WR, not sure he's an ideal No 2, he's a 3rd option and he shouldn't crave the spotlight as much

The Athletic's Connor Hughes reports the Jets' interest in Odell Beckham is "very real".

Hughes added that Aaron Rodgers and Beckham are close and have discussed playing together in New York. He punctuated this by saying, "Basically, Rodgers wants OBJ." Given the signing of Allen Lazard and other reports of the Jets seeking out former Packers, this all checks out. The Jets just swapped out Elijah Moore for Mecole Hardman and also have Garrett Wilson and Lazard penciled in for starting roles. That is assuming they cut Corey Davis, which seems inevitable. With a crowded receiver room, it's hard to see how OBJ would fit in the picture. However, if Rodgers wants him on the roster, getting Beckham involved may simply be the cost of doing business.

And still he walks the streets as a homeless NFL Wide Receiver after injuring himself in Super Bowl 56
He's homeless and unemployed because he (allegedly) wanted $20M a season after not playing last year after seasons with 319 and 537 receiving yards. He's learning the market for banged up 30-year-old receivers is pretty soft. I've made a comparison to Dez Bryant in the past. Anyone expecting the 2014-16 version of OBJ needs their head examined.

“I’m just so confused where the quote is from me that said I want 20…..😭🙄all I’m sayin is 4 AINT enough,” Beckham tweeted."
What a bunch of sleazy ****heads PFT are.
You don't care for Mike Florio?
Gold standard in football journalism, anyone at NBC will tell you.

He might be fighting for a roster spot and that's to say many teams don't even want to guarantee him 1 year, not for any real amount of money.
He might be better served signing after Week 1 when teams can freely cut him and more comfortable making him a part of the team.
He arrived in Los Angeles mid season and was needed for the final push.
Not many teams that are going to truly need his services right now.
Is he even a Top 25-30 WR in the NFL right now?

For WR that played in at least 20 games from 2020-2022, in standard scoring leagues, OBJ ranks as WR40 in terms of fantasy ppg. Based on total fantasy points scored in that time, he ranks 85th.
If we are talking less than $5M per year, I gotta wonder if broadcasting and promoting that bravado of his isn't a better option with a lot less injury risk

It's like an OBJ diss fest in here. I think it's gone to far.

Yes no one is expecting prime Odell but he was not a total waste in Cleveland. He had two healthy seasons and basically posted Terry McLaurin like numbers. Not great, certainly not rubbish, the guy goes 70/1000 and you'd think he was not in the league the way some people go on in here.

He gets traded to the Rams, takes a few weeks to learn things and starts heating up. Had a TD in 5 of the last 7 regular season games. Went 25/316/2 in basically 3 games and a quarter in the playoffs and SB. Very strong chance the Rams don't win the SB if they did not have him, that's not an exaggeration. I don't know, that seems kind of relevant to me.

He blows out his ACL in mid-February. So yes, when that happens you tend to not be able to play the next season.

He's probably going to be a Jet, and again he's not what he used to be and neither he or Rodgers are the warmest guys to pull for but just the same I think it's going to be cool if these two seemingly past their prime players can hook up in NY and try and bring back a little magic to their game and see if they can win some playoff games for the Jets. It's good drama and I'm going to be there for it.

And for fantasy purposes I think he'll be the Jets #2WR and a solid WR3.

I'll take the under on that last line. I don't think he can stay healthy for one, and I think he has lost more than a step for two. His yards per game have dropped precipitously and have continued to trend downward, as has his catch%. He's been targeted half as often as he used to be. His yards per reception have consistently dropped. IMO, players that have had serious injuries and missed a lot of time don't generally drink from the fountain of youth once they hit 30 and start improving. He'll turn 31 mid-season. The #2 WR in GB the past 5 years has had fantasy ranks of 41, 38, 55, 68, and 65. I think whomever signs OBJ will regret it . . . and if he does go to the Jets with Rodgers, I think it stands a better chance of flopping than succeeding.

And now the Jets are on Zeke's shortlist too. How hilarious/unlikable can that team possibly become.

Hard Knocks would have a field day.

Hey, Rodgers/Zeke/Beckham would be an all-time great trio...in 2016.

As an aside, I'm getting a little bit of a 2018 Vikings/2022 Broncos vibe from the Jets, where they think they think they are just a QB away but are in for a bit of a rude awakening about how close they really aren't.

ETA: My personal opinion, is that the Wilson/Davis/Berrios/Moore WR group is probably better than the Wilson/Beckham/Lazard/Hardman group, as well as being cheaper and younger.

Jets win two games in a row, fanbase becomes hilarious/unbearable depending on your tolerance level.

The way the media would tell you, it's an intolerable fanbase. But the Jets fans in the SP are (myself excluded so that I'm not biased) some of the best on the board in terms of knowledge and temperament.

It's weird. You would not get that vibe from watching the Meadowlands on Sundays. Maybe it's just here. Again, excluding myself. If you ever look around wondering where the anchor is on a sinking boat...

Jets GM Joe Douglas said the team has "had productive conversations" with Odell Beckham's agent, but that the two sides are not scheduled to meet.

There appears to be mutual interest between the two sides, but a deal is far from imminent at this point. OBJ is reportedly on the short list of players Aaron Rodgers would like to play with in New York, but Beckham joining the Jets may be on hold until a trade for Rodgers is officially completed. Multiple teams were present at Beckham's scheduled workout in the days leading up to free agency, but the Jets and Cowboys have been the teams most closely tied to him at this time. Douglas also reiterated that the team feels good about their current receivers, but that adding Beckham is an "opportunity to add a unique player."

ESPN's Jordan Raanan believes the Giants pursuing Odell Beckham is a "long shot at best."

With a wideout room full of slot receivers, the Giants are going to have to add receiver options in the coming weeks and months, perhaps through the draft. Raanan joins other Giants beat writers in all but dismissing a reunion between the team and Beckham, who played for New York from 2014 to 2018. The Jets' interest in OBJ is reportedly "very real," especially if the team lands Aaron Rodgers in a trade. Rodgers and Beckham are apparently close and have discussed playing together. Beckham, 30 years old and coming back from an ACL tear, has played in 21 NFL games since the start of the 2020 season.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reports Odell Beckham "has offers on the table from multiple teams," with the Jets being his most likely landing spot.

Graziano believes Beckham could wait to make his move until after the Jets have acquired Aaron Rodgers from the Packers (ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said the trade is all but a done deal and that neither the Jets nor Packers are in a hurry to get it done). It remains to be seen what kind of deal Beckham can get after playing in just 21 NFL games since the start of the 2020 season due to multiple ACL injuries. It was reported this week that OBJ reuniting with the Giants should be considered a "long shot at best."

Said to want $15M a year . . . which to me is about $10M a year too high. He should be on a much lower priced contract with tons of incentives.

How much of that $15M per year does he need guaranteed?
ESPN is reporting there are teams that may be willing to give OBJ $8M a year with incentives that would push it to $10M a season. That being said, the teams that might go that high may not be places Odell would want to go. A serious contender might not offer him anything close to that.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reports free agent Odell Beckham is "thought to be seeking" $15 million for a one-year deal.

That won't be happening for a 30-year-old who has played 20 games since 2019, zero of which were in 2022. Cimini does believe $10-$12 million may be attainable. That would be a risky bet on someone on the wrong side of 30 with Beckham's injury history. The Jets do seem to be interested, while Beckham and Aaron Rodgers have long been a rumored pairing.

Oh I get it. I just think no team will pay anything more than 7-8MM for a 1 year deal.
Never under estimate the level of Jerry’s infatuation with “name” WRs
My prediction is he comes in north of $12M with a lot of incentives. Whether that's Jerry or someone else. Just the market. $7-8M a year is what Robert Woods just got and he's a year older and looks shot.
Fair enough. I think OBJ looked pretty shot the last season he was on the field.....nothing close to that guy in 14-15-16. But someone may overpay for that hope of his old self.

If the Cowboys grab him......ooof good luck. I don’t even think he can even get through an entire season physically.
Oh I agree. I don’t want him unless he comes cheap and that doesn’t sound like it’s going to happen
I could see him being a productive WR3 for the Cowboys. Lamb/Cooks/OBJ isn’t the worst trio I’ve seen.

I’m betting he works his *** off to get back to playing condition. He seems hungry for a career redemption arc.

I'm not sure he's nuts, but the diva definitely has an overinflated value of himself.

Not to be a PITA, but was OBJ not motivated the past three years to work extra hard rehabbing his various injuries? Now he's going to turn a corner? He's already made $83M in his NFL career and probably another $8-10M in endorsements. Teams that considered him late in the season last year apparently said he wasn't ready to play. Maybe that's changed, but I am not sure hard work and motivation makes a 30-year-old, oft-injured WR any more likely to heal (or regain a step).

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Ravens have made an offer to Odell Beckham.

The details of the offer have not been disclosed, but the Ravens are now the second team rumored to have made an official offer to the veteran receiver. As Schefter points out, the courting of OBJ has been "one of the longest free agent recruitments that we've ever seen." He's not wrong, as OBJ met with several teams at the midway point of last season, before failing to receive a contract, and has spoken to several other suitors this offseason. The Jets and Ravens appear to be two of the stronger contenders for Beckham's services at this point, with the Rams also remaining somewhat in the mix.

18/Season?!?!?!?!
UP TO $18M. I’m guessing a LOT of incentives.
$15m guaranteed
that's... A Lot.
I know a lot of people in this thread called him crazy for seeking $15m and now got it and Shefter said his incentives were easily reachable so he probably beats what a few here laughed at him wanting.

Most of that $15m guarante is a bonus. It’s and one year deal but my guess will have dummy/voidable years in the deal, only reason to pay it out in bonus.

Do you think he signs in Baltimore “knowing”/hoping Jackson comes back?
Or just taking the money and hoping Baltimore figures it out?
