WR Quentin Johnston, LAC (1 Viewer)

I’m putting my foot down. I will not be Charlie Brown’d by QJ again. Did he look great? Yeah. Is he seeing great volume? For sure. Is he in a great pass-happy offense with a fantastic QB and complimentary surrounding talent? 100%.

On the other hand, I think he hates me personally and is waiting for me to overbid for him in the league he is still on the wire to turn into a pumpkin again. If I pick him up I ruin the experience for all of you. I can’t do that to you all.

Played him last week and glad I did, but this week I am starting Pickens over him. I like Q Johnson and think he is going to have a nice season, but I just think with what they have to throw to it is what is it with him. He will never see a huge uptick in targets.

Quentin Johnston is off to a hot start and a much-improved player, but he enters the No Fly Zone this week.

We're expecting shadow coverage from Patrick Surtain (0.15 fantasy points per route run allowed - league low).

Week 3 WR vs. CB report:
Why are they expecting QJ to get the shadow coverage? I would expect Keenan Allen

Surtain doesn't typically cover slot WRs -- this season, he has 15 of 127 defensive snaps at slot CB (11.8%); last season, he had 83 of 1,054 defensive snaps at slot CB (7.9%). Of the Chargers' top 3 WRs, Johnston plays the fewest snaps in the slot -- he has 12 snaps in the slot this season, compared to 29 for Allen and 43 for McConkey. Johnston leads the team in percentage of snaps wide, excluding Lambert-Smith, who has only played 20 snaps total.

In addition, Johnston has the highest average depth of target (again, excluding Lambert-Smith) by a large margin -- Johnston's is 15.2, Allen's is 9.4, and McConkey's is 8.9. And Johnston also leads the team's WRs in YAC and YAC/reception. Johnston has been the bigger big play threat this season so far.

I don't know if all of that means Surtain will shadow him, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I want to make a stupid offer to try get this guy back after dropping him on dynasty cut-down day. But I'm not sure. His big knock for his first two years was catch percentage. He's at 58% on the season, basically right on par for his career.

ETA: Although none of his non-catches this year have been counted as drops. He had 1 drop for evey 16 targets prior to this season. Which doesn't even really seem that significant, other than it makes your real-life team more hesitant to target you.

7-7-10, his targets very consistent, offense lost Harris who was expected to help the rookie Hampton
I think the Bolts will continue throwing the ball
He's a weekly possibility for about 5/75/TD, won't be every single week but he's part of the game plan
Most of the FF community assumed they were giving up on this guy, not so much

He also has not had a boneheaded drop at a crucial moment but those challenges are coming soon, how will he respond this season?
Hopefully we don't see those hands of stone reappear

Good for him, he looked awful that rookie season. Everyone sold low everywhere because he looked 100% like a total bust out of the gate (myself included made that mistake as well)

10 more targets today. Can’t get any more consistent than that. Plus he’s proving results with those.

Only have him in 1 redraft league after selling him for 2nd rounders last year in 3 dynasty leagues. Oh well.
