Would love it if we stay on point herePete Sweeney
This means Rashee Rice will miss Kansas City's next four games before he is eligible to return, should next week's tests go well.

We have placed WR Rashee Rice on Reserve/Injured.

Official from the team now: As others have reported, he was in the Locker Room today. Walking around .. put on a leg sleeve while at locker.
LOLI mean come on. Can we just leave this alone. We don't need to pile on. People make mistakes and clearly taking a package that isn't yours is wrong and reckless driving endangering others is wrong. Calling them POS as if everyone hasn't made mistakes in their life seems excessive.
So if someone has been through ___, or raised in a certain way, they should be excused from criminal behavior? Unlimited free passes because of something that happened in their past?Yeah, I'm with you here. And judging them from your morale high ground labeling them POS accomplishes what?
This is a Rashee Rice thread so bringing his family into this and also labeling his mother a POS. What purpose?
We can not like what they both did I just don't see the purpose of piling on with calling him and his mother POS.
When my kids were little one of my boys came home from middle school talking about how someone at their school was trash. I looked at him with that look where they know I'm serious and tell him:
"you are never to call someone trash ever again. you have no idea what that kid has going on at home. you don't know where he comes from or how he was raised or what he's been through. you have no idea if he even had enough food at home to have breakfast that morning. people are not trash, or pieces of crap, or pieces of ****. you will never refer to another human being in those words. you got that?"
And that's how I feel about this. Yes - both Rice and his mother made mistakes. But I didn't grow up in their shoes.

Reckless car racing - dumb mistake. Fleeing the scene and not accepting responsibility - POS.
Porch Pirate - not a mistake. POS.
I would love to see the Chiefs cut him. They don't need him. Sadly, I doubt they will.
You have to wait until next week. If you find out he'll be back in 4-6 weeks, you have to hold onto him.are folks now dropping him? I guess I will wait until next week, as I was forced to start Bucky last night in my small bench league so this week is botched anyway, just wondering what consensus is, or is there a chance he will be back in 5 weeks or are we all still guessing?

One thing we didn't get to in TNF postgame (b/c of OT): Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is expected to have his knee scoped next week after the swelling goes down, per sources. There's fear of ACL damage, and also PCL damage.
Docs will know more after going in and set a plan from there.
"The goal will become, we believe (and we’re told), to resolve the eight pending felony charges and to serve any suspension this year, while he’s otherwise unable to play. Then, come 2025, the incident, and the injury, will be behind him."
Seems shady. Teams can't have it both ways in my opinion. They can't state we will wait for due process of the law, which I agree, then go this route when it's convenient. Optics look bad."The goal will become, we believe (and we’re told), to resolve the eight pending felony charges and to serve any suspension this year, while he’s otherwise unable to play. Then, come 2025, the incident, and the injury, will be behind him."
That's interesting if true (and able to be done.) As many of us speculated and wondered, can he even serve a suspension if he's on injured reserve? Florio seems to indicate that he can in this article
I do not think he can serve suspension and be on IR. Maybe that's part of this whole "not done for the season". They say he should be ready to come back towards the end of the season. Legal stuff gets resolved. Suspension happens . . . I imagine if the NFL finds out the chiefs lied about his injury and they knew all along he was out for the year . . . there would be fines/punishment, so I doubt this is the way it all plays out. But a fun conspiracy theory.Seems shady. Teams can't have it both ways in my opinion. They can't state we will wait for due process of the law, which I agree, then go this route when it's convenient. Yup. While he is on IR his lawyers are probably trying to settle the 8 (EIGHT!!!) felony counts. If the somehow manage that, then the NFL can suspend Rice once he comes off IR. So, even if his knee is shredded, since the Chiefs have put him on season ending IR technically the Chiefs can bring him off IR then let the NFL suspend Rice which would give the Chiefs a roster exemption and let Rice continue his rehab/recovery.I do not think he can serve suspension and be on IR. Oh crud - missed the Faust update. Man you’re fast!
If this is true, the NFL is pulling shenanigans that need to be more heavily scrutinized
@Joe Bryant - your thoughts? Pro football talk isn’t a small outlet - seems like a pretty bold accusation.

Interesting. I haven't looked a ton at it. Does seem to not be in the spirit of the intention of the rules and suspension. We'll see.
Yeah, it’s pretty shady.WOW.
It's one of those things that makes too much sense not to be correct.
And we are supposed to believe the NFL doesn’t prop up certain teams. I’m so glad I’m done with FF and don’t bother watching much NFL these days. It’s a joke.Seems very manipulative to me.If this is true, the NFL is pulling shenanigans that need to be more heavily scrutinized

Helping the chiefs by delaying & not suspending Rice, then trying to accelerate the process to help the Chiefs?
What is even going on here?! Seems like other teams might have a good reason to raise sand over this.
Stop. The NFL almost always allows the legal process to play itself out before imposing suspensions. It has nothing to do with the Chiefs.Helping the chiefs by delaying & not suspending Rice, then trying to accelerate the process to help the Chiefs?

I did. Hours ago and posted on it above after I did. It's a loophole and there is nothing indicating the NFL is "helping" the Chiefs.Read the article.Stop. Sure sounds like they exploited the system to slow down the process & keep Rice active while he was healthy, now they want to exploit the system to speed up the process to exploit the system while he’s hurt.I did. It's rare the NFL imposes a suspension before legal claims are settled and when it does it's when the PR is so bad they are forced to take action (e.g. Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson). The PR fallout for Rice's crime wasn't terrible. That's out fault, not the NFL's . The barrier between Rice and a suspension is resolution of his legal cases. Perfectly above board. Not revealing the extent of the injury, presuming they know it's an ACL already (and I think they do) is bad optics for those of us who follow such things but the general public will never even hear about it. Therefore they won't raise a stink and the PR fallout will remain minimal.
Nothing about this suggests the NFL is "helping" the Chiefs.
Almost always. That sounds a lot like the opposite, which is “maybe sometimes”.The NFL almost always
Again, blame the fans and non-fans who saw a news story about it and didn't care.Almost always. That sounds a lot like the opposite, which is “maybe sometimes”.![]()
Please stop. Saying the Chiefs are being smart if they exploit this is like people saying Rice was “smart” to bolt after the accident without checking on anyone. We know, we care. I think he deserves due process, which means being able to maintain your livelihood, and I think, whit the information we have that he deserves some jail time.
But again, we're NFL super-users. Jon & Jane Q Public don't care enough to move the needle so it didn't move.
The NFL is doing exactly what it always does and it has nothing to do with the Chiefs.
They're not remotely comparable in any universe. Please stop. This has been debated. I don't claim to know whether you're allowed to serve a suspension while on IR.So Von Miller gets suspended this week due to "allegations" that he assaulted his girlfreind.
... yet Rashee Rice, after being charged with 8 felony counts, civil suits filed against him due to personal injury from said felony, video of the felony before, during, and after, and what seemed to be an admission of guilt... (Rice turned himself in to police, admitted to driving the Lamborghini, and apologized for his actions)
and he gets an NFL "We'll get back to you. Now get out there and play. Your team needs you."
I don't understand.
Now there's a chance Rice serves whatever suspension he gets when he's injured anyway?
Between this situation and every game deciding call / non-call going KC's way, you can't tell me the NFL isn't pushing for the KC Swifties to win another SB.

Per Mike Florio ... who I assume would know the answer to serving a suspension while injured;
"The goal will become, we believe (and we’re told), to resolve the eight pending felony charges and to serve any suspension this year, while he’s otherwise unable to play," Florio wrote. "Then, come 2025, the incident, and the injury, will be behind him. Some might call that cynical. Others would regard it as strategic. Because it is."
Rice Suspension Speed Up

If Rice resolves his legal b.s. the Chiefs bring him back from IR, he gets suspended, goes on to do his rehab anyway and the Chiefs get a roster exemption for the suspended player.

I believe it is perfectly within the rules and strategically brilliant.
Is there an explanation as to why some players are suspended on "allegations" and in the case of a KC player, the NFL waits for the legal process to "play out"?So Von Miller gets suspended this week due to "allegations" that he assaulted his girlfreind.

No, it's b.s. if they manage to settle it without jail time.
