Won't be a prettier-looking wideout in 2025 #NFL Draft than TCU's Savion Williams (6036v, 228v, 33 1/4 arm, 9 3/8 hand).
Cordarrelle Patterson is the comp.
Credit @TCUFootball staff for running him 18 times as wildcat QB over past two games.
There's "wow" type talent when he gets ball in his hands.
This is a ridiculous spin move for a man his size!

This guy is super interesting to me. A bit on the older side (24 in November) and the receiving production is not eye popping, but multi-functional (used out of the backfield, played QB in high school) and is about as physical of a specimen (strong as SH, sub 4.5, 6-4/222, 600 squat, 355 bench, 40 vert, etc) as any receiver in this class. I tend to fall for these types and it usually doesn’t pan out, but will definitely be keeping an eye out which team drafts him. Would be curious if anyone has watched a lot of TCU what their thoughts are,,,

The freakiest tape of any athlete in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Williams’ biggest question mark is his production as a true wide receiver.
Two glaring flaws are present in his metrics:
1.56 yards per route run

Complete project as a route runner. Feels like a gadget/go ball only type. Its all catch point wins or screens. 19 of his 60 catches were WR screens. Lots of push offs too. Probably is mostly a special teams guy in year 1. Probably could do worse as a 3rd round flier but could also be a waste of a pick.
If he were shorter, I wonder if he'd be getting some RB talk. Which I guess is where the Patterson comp comes in.

Comp I've seen that clicked with me was Taysom Hill but gifted with more natural physical talent.

I think Watson is leaving a bad taste in the mouth of the staff. When he's not hurt, he's dropping passes. Dude has completely fallen off.

I'd love to see them hang on to Wicks. He drops a ton of passes, but he runs great routes and is always open. If he can figure out how to hang on to a pass he's got serious potential.
Golden is kind of a Watson replacement and can probably evolve into more than what Watson provided. Watson is also made of glass. As a packer fan I'm good with parting ways and kind of expect it if things go reasonably well with the rest of the receiver room.
Savion is a freak and should get some designed plays for him. He is almost another Cordarelle Patterson. I could see him getting some run at RB. Getting touches at a WR is going to be tough in that room. Wouldn't be surprised if he got the Deebo Samuel treatment.

Watson is done. Not convinced he will even make it onto the active roster this year. It would require him to be fully healthy…..that might take until mid-season.

I believe both Watson and Dobbs are free agents after this year. Reed and Wicks free agents the year after. Dobbs will be done. Between his concussion and hissy fit last year he'll begone. Watson, depending on how soon he returns, will probably be brought back on a one year prove it deal.

Jayden Reed dropped 10 passes last year, ranking third in the league for dropped passes.

Especially as a Reed owner, I'm 100% with you on the bolded lol. Williams is MUCH more fit for those plays than Reed, and it's frustrating as someone who wants to see Reed get more usage see him being wasted on that kind of stuff.
Savion also desperately needs those designed plays IMO. He may be one of the worst route runners/separators on film I watched in a few years considering where he was getting projected, and then wound up get drafted. Harmon had him embarrassingly low against man, zone, and press coverages. Every route success rate was in the red outside screens. digs, and crossers. Even the routes he ran at the highest rate in college (flys and curls) were some of his worst.
Not trying to be overly negative on this guy, and I understand people trying to comp him to Deebo/CPatt based on his physical profile. but honestly it's an insult to those two as a comp based on Savion's utter lack of talent with just about everything else we look for in a WR aside from measurables. He could definitely improve and become better, but if he does not he's purely a special teams and gadget play guy IMO. Which feels really odd to take in the third round for the Packers. He's basically DND for me.

Doubs and Wicks are really the only two that can play the X in my opinion. Savion would seem to be the only one to directly threaten for that role, but if he is such a crappy route runner and separator then that seems maybe a stretch.
I think Golden is the real deal and takes over as the alpha in a role that moves from slot to outside and back. Then I see Doubs and Wicks battling for who plays mostly outside at X. I see Reed battling with whoever is leftover from those two for a prominent 3rd WR role. Savion sprinkles in and gets chances to develop but IMO the loser of Doubs v Wicks is still probably light years ahead of Savion. Watson is long gone and the rest are camp bodies.

To his credit, I think he's a better goal line/short yardage runner than either Deebo or CP.

I didn't watch his tape and read in depth on him till later in the process; and once I caught up, the comp I saw someone else make that made a ton of sense to me from an actual NFL usage standpoint was Taysom Hill. So I think you might be spot on there. And really it might be his best path to fantasy success. He even played QB in a wing T style offense in HS. I could 100% see him become a redzone standard for GB, lining up all over the formation, and asking him to just out athlete his matchups. And if there is a part of his WR skills that stands out as a positive is he has good mits. He can play as that big TE who boxes defenders out and pulls a ball down. He can play as a goal line back as he's physical and doesn't go down on first contact. And he very likely is still talented enough to connect on a 5 yard pass on some direct snap/flea flicker/double pass trick plays.
Just comes back to odd spending a 3rd round pick on that kind of guy, even if he wind up a Taysom Hill+. And because of the volatility, not someone I'd be targeting in fantasy leagues. Though I guess a case could be made he could wind up a real value in best ball, where those 2-3 weeks a season where he randomly had a 3TD game he gets auto plugged into your lineup.

Gives the Packers versatility if he can improve his route running. Can essentially play RB/WR. Athletic freak but extremely raw with routes and hands are inconsistent. They must have seen enough raw athleticism and would think they have some ideas on usage if burning a 3rd.
