WR T.Y. Hilton, DAL (3 Viewers)

Colts activated WR T.Y. Hilton (neck) from injured reserve.

Out since late August, Hilton was designated to return to practice this week. The Colts are confident enough in his health to activate him ahead of Sunday's game with the Texans, and he's expected to be active for the first time this season. The matchup is playable for Hilton, who has averaged 95 yards in 18 career games against Houston, but the extended layoff means he'll likely be on a snap count. Hilton's return cuts into Michael Pittman's target share and ROS outlook.

T.Y. Hilton (quad) caught 4-of-4 balls for 80 yards before leaving Indianapolis' Week 6 win over the Texans in the fourth quarter.

Teammates didn't seem too concerned about the injury after the game and the Colts didn't exactly have a reason to keep playing him in the fourth quarter. But it is something to monitor in the early-week injury scramble. Hilton passed 100 career catches against the Texans in 19 games, notching 1,798 yards. With those numbers, Hilton is the only Texans owner that is interacting with reality at the moment. Pending the injury being bad, Hilton will be on the WR3/FLEX line for Week 7's game against the 49ers.

It was a quad injury, Colts and T.Y. didn't feel it was serious postgame or that he'd miss time. He'll probably see a DNP on Wednesday/Limited Thursday since it's his 1st game back IMHO.

Speaking Tuesday, Colts coach Frank Reich said T.Y. Hilton (quad) was "doing fine," but he declined to guarantee he will be ready for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

“With these soft tissue things, we’re going to need to let it settle for 48 hours to really start to begin to make a determination,” Reich said. “I’m not sure we’re going to be able to make a determination even by Wednesday or Thursday, so we’ll just kind of keep it day by day with T.Y. – be hopeful. We know he heals faster than most people. He’s unique in that way, but we’ll be smart as well.” Any time a coach offers something than injury sunshine, it's worth noting. We would consider Hilton genuinely questionable for Sunday Night Football. It's bad news after Hilton made his season debut last Sunday, a victory in which Parris Campbell suffered a potentially season-ending injury. Even if Hilton does eventually suit up, he can't be trusted as more than a zero-floor WR4.

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quad) said he's "50-50" to play in Week. 7 against the 49ers.

Hilton said he's "in a good spot" with his sore quad but failed to practice on either Wednesday or Thursday. Having returned for a 20% target share in his first game off injured reserve, it's an injury worth monitoring since he limited Michael Pittman's opportunity (three targets) on Sunday. Hilton is shaping up to be a true game-time call.

T.Y. Hilton (quad) did not participate in Thursday's practice.

He hasn't participated in either practice since leaving the Week 6 win over the Texans in the fourth quarter, and even though the talk has been optimistic, it wouldn't at all be surprising to see this result in a DNP. Hilton's status carries a lot of cachet for Michael Pittman's fantasy stock as well. How the Friday injury report unfolds will play a big part in how the Colts operate this week.

T.Y. Hilton (quad) has been downgraded to out for Week 7 against the 49ers.

With Parris Campbell (foot) injured last week, too, the Colts will roll with Michael Pittman and Zach Pascal soaking up the snaps at wideout. We could see more multiple-TE sets out of the Colts in what is expected to be a game dominated by both rushing offenses.

T.Y. Hilton (quad) was upgraded to a limited practice on Thursday.

Hilton did not participate in practice all of last week with the quad injury, but appears to have recovered enough to put his status as legitimately questionable for Week 8. In Hilton's one healthy game this year, he led the Colts in targets. Last week notwithstanding, the Titans have given up their share of passing yards. Hilton's a potential WR3/FLEX if he plays, and he might take Michael Pittman's ceiling down if he suits up as well.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports "there is optimism" that T.Y. Hilton (quad) is able to play in Week 8 against the Titans.

Hilton returned from injured reserve in Week 6 and turned in an 80-yard performance but he suffered a quad injury that held him out of the team's Week 7 outing. Colts coach Frank Reich thought Hilton looked good in practice this week and the veteran speedster was upgraded to a full practice by the end of the week. Indianapolis gets an easy matchup with the Titans this week, keeping Hilton in consideration for FLEX usage.

T.Y. Hilton (concussion) will not play Week 9 against the Jets.

Hilton landed hard on his head and neck area during the fourth quarter of the Colts' Week 8 loss to the Titans. On a short week, it is not surprising Hilton will be forced to sit. Michael Pittman will remain Indy's top option in the passing game.

Colts head coach Frank Reich said T.Y. Hilton remains in the league's concussions protocol.

Hilton will have to clear the protocol in the next few days if he has any chance to play in Week 10 against the Jaguars. He missed the Colts' Week 9 win after leaving in Week 8 with the brain injury. Michael Pittman's fantasy prospects are slightly higher if Hilton remains sidelined.

T.Y. Hilton (concussion) practiced on Thursday for the second consecutive day.

Hilton did not have a non-contact jersey on as he did on Wednesday, so there seems to be progress here. The Jaguars defense is coming off a puzzlingly big game against Buffalo, but based on the balance of the season, Hilton would seem to be a good bet to connect on a deep shot or two on them. Hilton will be a FLEX candidate if he plays.

T.Y. HILTON WR, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

Colts wideout T.Y. Hilton is reportedly considering retirement.

TE Jack Doyle, another Colts mainstay, apparently also is considering retirement. “If I want to play one more year," Hilton said, "I could play one more year. If not, then I won’t. So (I’ll) just talk to [Doyle], see how he’s feeling and once he makes his decision, I’ll kind of know what I want to do kind of based on him. Whether it’s here or whether it’s somewhere else, I’ll make my decision some time in the offseason.” Hilton missed seven games due to injury last year and was lapped by Michael Pittman as the offense's primary wideout.

“Colts general manager Chris Ballard indicated that T.Y. Hilton plans to play in 2022.

Hilton was reportedly contemplating retirement after the season, but now looks likely to return for 2022. The ball is in the Colts' court, however, with the 32-year-old wide receiver about to hit free agency. Hilton finished with just 23 receptions for 331 yards and three TDs in 2021, struggling through an injury-plagued campaign. However, he did show flashes of his downfield ability at times. The Colts need to address the wide receiver position whether or not Hilton is brought back. Hilton would operate best as a rotational deep threat option in the mold of late-career DeSean Jackson.”

dude’s like a vampire. Just go away already!

T.Y. Hilton tweeted, "Enjoy retirement" when congratulating former teammate Jack Doyle on retiring.

Hilton prefaced this with, "My two closest friends have left me." He was referring to Doyle and Andrew Luck. The post makes it clear that Hilton won't be joining his friends in retirement just yet, though his days might be numbered. He is set to hit free agency in a week and is coming off the worst season of his career. Injuries and poor play held him to a 23/331/3 receiving line last year. If Hilton is looking for a new home this spring, he will likely sign a one-year deal with a contending team. Despite experiencing loads of personal success, he has never made a conference championship in his decade-long career.

The only positive I see here as a Pittman shareholder is that TYH isn’t likely to be a surprise breakout like say, a draft pick might be. Could be just what we need for Pittman to become the true alpha.
(well, that and a competent QB, of course)

Colts general manager Chris Ballard said he "thinks [T.Y. Hilton] can still play."

Hilton, a free agent, has hinted he won't retire this offseason, and Ballard said earlier this month that the team will "see how things play out" with the longtime franchise cornerstone. Hilton, 32, posted a career-low in receiving yards while struggling with injuries in 2021. He hasn't cracked 800 receiving yards since 2018. If he returns to the Colts, he'll be a deep ball specialist while Michael Pittman operates as Matt Ryan's unquestioned WR1.

Cowboys signed WR T.Y. Hilton.

After weeks of courting Odell Beckham Jr., the Cowboys unexpectedly signed Hilton, 33, to a deal for some added depth ahead of the playoffs. While the signing of OBJ remains a possibility, it's Hilton who will get the first crack at providing additional help to Dallas' 20th-ranked passing attack. It will be interesting to see just how much help Hilton can provide, as the veteran receiver is coming off a 2021 season in which he appeared in just nine games while posting a 23-331-3 line and a career-low 1.48 YPRR. Having played 64 percent of his snaps outside, Hilton could lineup wide on three-receiver sets, with CeeDee Lamb's versatility allowing him to play more from the slot. There's no reason to rush to add Hilton to your fantasy rosters, as he's unlikely to offer any immediate contribution.
