WR Tyreek Hill, MIA (3 Viewers)

Tyreek limited today with the wrist issue again and now questionable.

I assume he plays, but not what I'm looking for heading into the semis.

Malik Washington officially on the radar.

Rotowire) Hill (wrist) is expected to play Sunday versus the 49ers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Analysis: Hill is dealing with a wrist injury that kept him sidelined during practice Wednesday. He logged a full session Thursday before being listed as limited on Friday's injury report, leading to a questionable game status for Week 16. Hill's definitive availability will be revealed 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. With Jaylen Waddle (knee) considered doubtful to play, it's likely that Hill, Malik Washington and River Cracraft will line up as Miami's starting wideouts while tight end Jonnu Smith continues to feature heavily into the passing game.

Haven't heard a peep about this otherwise. Hoping this is a complete non issue.

Regardless, I'm mentally preparing myself and my head to see Jonnu Smith get 15 targets as I rip my hair out.

Was tinkering with the idea of benching him. Now Tua is out. Makes it easier to switch gears to either T. Tracy or T. Spears if Pollard is out (and now has the flu apparently).

Near end of this clip he starts heavily insinuating he'd like out, even throws out how he enjoyed playing there in the past tense.

Could just be some end of a frustrating season venting. I did not even realize, until he said it, he's been in the playoffs every year of his career so again could just be losing that has him frustrated.

Would they trade him?
Miami is in limbo right now, hard to say who they should keep
They have to make some more hard decisions with Tua's salary kicking in and Waddle getting almost $30M
This was supposed to be the Miami run in '23 and '24 before Tua started making big dollars but that window has closed

-Also Hill is a jerk for giving away any trade leverage Miami might have
I wondered if he was injured or Tua simply couldn't get him the ball, think Hill still has plenty in the tank

Miami is paying him a lot of money, other teams could shy away from $30M and the Phins are not likely to pay part of his salary

He’s not the same guy obviously, but I’m sure a lot of teams would be interested if available. It’s a pretty barren FA and rookie crop.

I assume you remember our disagreement about the original trade. KC with two Super Bowls and a #1 seed.

He's so gone.
This is the National Football League, it's not the NBA
The team stood beside him when he had the run in with the police, when he burned down his house, when he fake filed his divorce papers and also sued for injuring a female in his backyard during a pick up football game.

Hill cannot just demand a trade and the Phins snap their fingers, this can get ugly but Miami typically does not allow that to happen
They prefer to simply show their ugly on the field

Yeah, He’s trying to one up Jimmy. The dude needs so much attention.

WTF???

When did all this go down? How did he burn down his house?

When one doesn't keep an eye on their many children all the time and they start playing with matches and lighters in the house...
He's had an incredible amount of off field stories while he's been in Miami

Does Tyreek think he’s in the NBA?

They didn’t give 3 x $30M to walk away when a season goes sideways. You want to play for a winner? Name one that doesn’t have a WR1 already who is younger and/or cheaper. Miami gave up two 1sts and if they could get a 3rd & a 5th back that’d be amazing.

There ain’t no GM out there thinking “You know what we need right now? A 31 year old WR at the top of the market with a history of unstable volatility. That’s really the only thing holding us back, a cap clog who will start bitching the first time he doesn’t get targets.”

The dude had the best situation in the league to win championships.

He traded that for money. Don’t blame him, but hilarious he now prioritizes winning 😂
He would not be the first person in the world who does not know what they got till they don't have it anymore. I would add I also think he thought he was under utilized a little in KC, though money was likely his driving force for requesting the trade.

I actually like the way he conducted himself this season and that winning means so much to him. What I specifically mean by the way he conducted himself is I never saw any outward sign of complaining about the odd use. He apparently gutted out the wrist injury it sounds right up till about the time he found out Denver was a lock to win and the season was over.

I think this is the new NFL and it's not a lot different then the NBA.

When stars want out, they usually get placated. We just saw a similar thing unfold with Davante Adams and many more.

Not everyone gets out when they want, even in the NBA. Just look down the road from Tyreek and see Jimmy Butler. But the last few years a shift has happened that when a player wants out, the teams seem intent on working with them on accomplishing that goal.

After I saw Tyreeks initial comments last night I thought some of it may have just been end of season frustration. That's before I knew he took himself out of the game, some might label it as quitting on the team, refusing to play. I think that's how McDaniel is most likely to see it.

I do believe if he wants out, he'll get it. He just has to understand he's not a FA who can just pick anywhere.

In case anyone was curious:

Cliff notes: Cutting not feasible. Trading would bring $28M in dead money, but that's almost a wash for his 2025 guarantees so in terms of cap hit it's almost a wash. Way his option bonus was structured they don't need to be in a rush, obviously they might be motivated for 2025 draft picks so they have that deadline but they can spread out the dead money hit, and actually increase the cap savings for 25 by about $15M, if they traded him after June 1.

With all this drama he just fell to me at the 9.11 pick in a startup best ball SF PPR dynasty league I’m drafting in right now. No way I could let him fall anymore further. Like others have said he will have no shortage of suitors if the Dolphins decide to trade him.

Yep. You can't blame him for wanting to get paid at his peak, but I think not only does he miss winning, it likely sticks in his craw that the Chiefs (as a team, the passing game does miss him) have done just fine without him. Football players have egos the size of Brazil, and I am sure he never thought they'd be going for a 3-peat in their 3rd year without him.

Correction. Miami gave up:
  • 2022 1st-round pick
  • 2022 2nd-round pick
  • 2022 4th-round pick
  • 2023 4th-round pick
  • 2023 6th-round pick
By many metrics, Hill was the best WR in the NFL in 2022 & 2023. He had a good start in game 1 in 2024, before Tua got hurt in game 2. Miami fans are as frustrated as Hill, who was a trooper playing through injuries last year and this year. Quiting on the team in the 4th quarter is out of character ... he returned a punt in the game, which is not diva stuff. We had some of the worst QB play in the NFL without Tua.

A 3rd and 5th is what I'd expect.

I’m told Tyreek Hill was in Dolphins building today for exit meetings but fallout/reaction from his eye-opening postgame comments indicating he may want out of Miami and sitting the 4th quarter of season finale is still ongoing.

My @nflnetwork report:

Sounds like he had an hour-long meeting with Ross and McDaniel, things got raucous, and nobody's saying much of anything.

How could this meeting go for an hour?

McDaniel (in his stoned housewife voice), "Tyreek, you can't just pull yourself out of a game... "

Tyreek, "Yeah, I get dat."

McDaniel, "No like... I really mean it."

Tyree, "Yeah, yeah.., no, I get it."

McDaniel, "So we cool?"

Tyreek, "Yeah, we cool."

Followed by 55 minutes of awkward silence? Big headlines.

Hill probably saw what happened to Chubb during a meaningless part of a blowout last year, McDaniel is not good at protecting his players from unnecessary injuries

I would guess McDaniel personality is not a good fit for Tyreek Hill's brand.

The meeting should have gone...

(McDaniel) "Tyreek, are you not receiving your game checks?"

Hill, "Yeah, yeah I'm getting paid"

McDaniel, "OK, see you next summer. You can leave the door open. Thanks."

This was news to me --- the Dolphins may have covered up Hill's injured wrist for a good chunk of the season.

Looking forward to the class action suit so I can recoup my fantasy league fees

Here’s where it gets very interesting. And maybe very expensive. With the league and its teams grabbing every last gambling sponsorship dollar that it can, Rosenhaus’s comments kick the door open for a nationwide class action against the NFL and the team seeking full reimbursement for all relevant wagers (including Hill’s prop bets that failed to hit the over) due to the concealment of the injury.

Not sure if this is good news or not for his fantasy value, if knew Tua would be healthy all year then good, but comes with that injury risk. Hopefully Miami makes the backup QB a priority this year.

TheHuddle) Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill told Pro Football Talk on Friday, Feb. 7, that he is 'taking full accountability' for his request to be traded shortly after the team's final regular-season game and wants to remain with the Dolphins. Analysis: Hill was probably going to remain a Dolphin whether he wanted it or not, but it is good to know that he appears willing to be a volunteer and not a hostage (stealing a bit of a quote Mike Tomlin has made famous over the years). The problem with Hill from a fantasy perspective now is that he will turn 31 in March and tied to an offense that made him less of a priority in 2024. Hill is still very much in the WR1 conversation entering 2025 drafts, but he belongs on the lower end.

I would not be shocked to see the Dolphins trade Tyreek Hill on draft night.

My ideal landing spots for him are Dallas and Baltimore.

With Dallas, they get to add some fire power which they will need to compete in their division this year. It would also take eyes off of CeeDee Lamb - allowing for both of their efficiencies to go through the roof.

With Baltimore, he would be able to join an aging roster to help close the gap in their AFC title run - and would be the best receiver Lamar Jackson has ever played with.

What do you guys think?

Does Dallas really have the cap space to take on Tyreek?
