I think there are a lot of interesting points in this article about how gamers fight amongst themselves and how stupid and destructive it is. It's not about consoles specifically, but I think the general idea still applies.

Crap on that, the who point of being on a fantasy football board is to argue football Leaf/Manning Williams/Stewart, Steelers/Ravens whatever.

People have been arguing religion, politics and sports forever. Video games is just an extension of that. It's fun.

What's funnier is that the xboys talked a lot of smack last gen and now are getting their asses handed to them.
This is stupid. It really comes down to the exclusive games: Dead Rising/Forza/Titanfall/Halo vs. Killzone/Infamous/Uncharted.

Anyway I never understood console pissing matches. Really? Who cares? Play the system you love. I think both the 360 and PS3

are terrific consoles.
Fanboys always strike me as people too poor to buy both systems. I can understand liking one over the other, but bashing a machine because it's not the one you own is pathetic.

No....still on the fence about what system to get. Gears coming to X1 is a big draw for me, kinda making me lean that way, but there's a lot more I need to see til I get either system. I'll probably get one this summer sometime. This time of year is a little hectic for me.
I'm still catching up on my 360 and PS3 games and I don't expect to be caught up anytime soon. I was leaning X1 until I found out there's no single player for Titanfall, so for me it comes down to Halo vs. Infamous/Uncharted. Probably going to wait until next year to buy a system since I'm in no rush to play those.

for all my ranting about going from 360 to ps4 so i wouldn't have to buy the same DLC over again, what is one of the first games I buy on PS4? Pinball FX 2. :(

True choice of condiments matter, but if this were the Big Mac versus Whopper how important is having Heinz ketchup on the burger you like the least?

this generation of consoles have more differences than the last. do you want an all-in-one entertainment center? xbox one is the better choice. if you want better graphics and pure gaming, go ps4. exclusives are a sell for many, but that's not all there is to think about.

So you understand liking one console over the other but you think it pathetic to point out deficiencies of one side in a VERSUS thread. It's only bashing when you are a sensitive soul who gets butt hurt when someone else on a message board thinks a product you bought sucks.

I have never thought of people who only buy one console as poor, why do you think that?

Is a Ferrari fanboy only a fanboy because he is too poor to buy a Yugo?

Also do you really think an Ohio State fan talks smack to a Michigan fan because he can't afford a Michigan T shirt?

If you are a xbox guy isnt the bone the "One console you need" and if you are a PS4 guy why wouldn't you get a 2nd a PS4 for the bedroom and a game and save some money?

Exactly which is why this thread exists. There are pluses and minuses to both systems and this thread is to argue those points.

And here is me saying something good about Xbone since you brought up Titanfall. Titanfall does look amazing and if it lives up to the hype it will be a big plus for MS.

If it is awesome I will be jealous but I have seen some "awesome" hype jobs before and been fooled. Aliens Colonial Marines, Bulletstorm and Duke Nukem some to mind.

The PS4's graphics are not going to be noticeable in most games. Where you are likely to notice it are in the PS4 exclusive games, which will be optimized for the PS4's GPU.

The only real differences between the two is $100 and the exclusives.

Was Bulletstorm really that hyped? The only people I know who had the game just bought it because it came with a Gears 3 MP beta pass. I played the beta more than I played Bulletstorm. I did beat it though...it was fun. I wouldn't pay anywhere near full price for it though.

It was made by Cliffy B. Of course it was overhyped.

Bulletstorm came out to capitalize on the success of the over the top action and humor of Borderlands and was billed as Borderlands TO THE EXTREME. It was ok in the sense that Duke Nukem was fun, but a lot of penis and boob jokes turned off most of the audience.

I am not saying it was Ishtar or ET in the hype, but I was looking forward to it and after playing the demo was absolutely not playing it ever again, well for money anyways.

I wonder how much of a hand Cliffy B really had in Bulletstorm. I know his name was on it, but I always got the impression that People Can Fly really ran the entire production. Given how bad Gears Judgment was, and how mediocre Bulletstorm was, it wouldn't surprise me if Cliffy had pretty much washed his hands of both*.

Guy gets a lot of ####, but his AAA titles are always money.

* he had left Epic before the release of Judgment, but was still there during most of the production.

I wish we'd finally see the sequel to Shadow Complex that is supposedly almost ready for release, but still hasn't been confirmed that will ever be released to the public - link. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll ever see it.

Ugh, really want to get an xbox for Titanfall and Halo, but the PS4 just sounds like the better, cheaper overall machine. What to do, what to do (currently have 360 and PS3).
I had both and used the 360 80% of the time. The PS3 gathered dust and only got pulled out for Last of Us and Uncharted. It was an easy decision for me to go with the One.
I'm kind of the same except my son has the 360. I like playing online but don't have friends I play with regularly or anything. I just don't want to pay more money for an under-powered, limited system. As long as the PS4 gets good games like Last of Us and the multi-console titles, and the 360 still gets the Halo's, etc, then I think I'm going with the PS4.
I just have not considered it under powered since I bought it. A lot of the talk here worried me but the decision was the right one.

-Forza while watching Olympics and being able to easily switch back and forth.

-Voice control is great. I love not having to find the remote to turn my system on and off, along with being able to easily pause movies, or change channels with out a remote.

-Graphics and games are smooth and look great so nothing to complain about.

-Live is the best on-line system out there even with the changes they made, which they are fixing soon.

The 720p vs 1080p is not even an issue for me. My guess is you would only be able to tell 720 vs 1080 if you had your face in the TV looking for it. At a normal viewing distance it is unnoticeable especially if you are PLAYING the games and not trying to look at individual screenshots only. I'm also guessing if you did a blind play test, taking away or making the game interface button graphics go away, very, very few people would be able to tell you which system they were playing on.

I say get the system that matches what you want to do with it. I'll probably figure out if I bought the right system when the Last of Us 2 comes out and I buy or borrow a PS/4.

You make some interesting points. My position has been that if they are remotely comparable, I'm going XB because of my personal preference in exclusives. As much as I really liked Uncharted (and I'm sure I'll like LOU, which I just started), I logged more time playing just Halo 4 than I did with the entire Uncharted series. And that's not even factoring in Halo 3 and Gears 1-3. I'm sort of an OCD multitasker so watching TV in the corner while playing a video game that doesn't require a ton of concentration also appeals to me.

It seems pretty clear at this point that there is a measurable difference in system power for multiplatform games this generation, which has really surprised me and complicated my initial decision (I'll probably end up with both down the line, like I did this last gen). Like you suggest, I guess I need to check out how much that difference will impact me personally by checking out some screenshots of both.

I'd also like to see if the next gen exclusives are any good. I'm excited about Halo 5 and Titanfall, but I'd hate to buy a system for those if they are terrible. On the other hand, I haven't seen any PS4 exclusives that I'd be in a rush to go out and play. These 10-15 hour Naughty Dog titles are A+ work, but my enjoyment of them won't be diminished if I wait and pick them (and the PS4) up cheap in 2016, either.

But, if AC4 and the other multiplatform games I spend most of my time playing look a lot better on PS4, it will really bug me if I have the XB.

i like the idea of both wibdows, that is how i used to play on my split screen tv then i gor hdmi pass throught through my receiver and my tv can only handle one hdmi at a time ......older tv

Honestly, even if the tables were turned and the Xbox was more powerful than the PS4 and multiplats ran better on it, I'd still probably have bought a PS4 anyway. I just like the kind of games that Sony makes. I don't hate shooters, but it's not my favorite genre, and one Battlefield or something every couple of years is plenty for me. So I agree that it makes perfect sense to go with an Xbox if you like Halo/Gears and games of that sort.

this

So whats everyone getting?
At some point, both. Likely X1 first though.
This. I get that the PS4 is the better pure gaming system but I'm most looking forward to the combo bouncing between gaming, TV, Skype, internet WHILE gaming, especially walkthroughs on tough areas on YouTube. Im a huge nerd, I'll be skyping my buddy who is playing a game in our madden online league, while I'm playing my game in the same league. All while nekkid. Don't judge me.

Yeah, all this bickering over which one to get. Aren't we all making FBG money? I have to decide which to buy first and which to pick up in another year or so.

Soooo you nekkid skype your gaming buddies............ No judgement here, you might want to look into the game Rust there seems to be a crowd that enjoys that sort of thing, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Today's news,

PS4 outsells xbone almost 2 to 1 in January.

Titanfall is currently running at 792p.

I am pumped for The Show! 2k mlb games are not only awful but just not fun overall. One week in with my ps4 and I have to say I like it so much more than I thought I would. As a 360 user, I think I made the right choice with the ps4.

guess may is ps4 time then. The numbers dont surprise me since my local target, a store here that sells out quickly, had a ton of ones on the shelf and no ps4. of course it could just been a new shipment

I think the numbers would be even more lopsided except there is no supply. I'm still trying to pick up one of these but not desperate enough to pre-order.

around here any new console technology you have to go to great lengths to get one early. i remember how hard it was to get a wii...amazon has them in stock so they are not impossible but B&M its always we had a few but the went quick

I've randomly checked amazon many times over the last few weeks while I wait on my tax return and both consoles have been in stock every time I've looked. They're both in stock right now.

which one are you going to get? this matters more than you can possibly imagine.
Strangely enough, now that I have my tax return in hand I'm in no hurry to buy either. Even though its been a few months since launch there still are no compelling games that "OMG I have to play" IMO.

This is probably the right answer for most folks still. I talked myself into buying both systems early, but I'll be the first person to say that you're not missing anything right now. Titanfall and maybe some of the PS4 exclusives coming this fall could start to change that though...

I'm in Canada and unfortunately that's not the case for amazon.ca

I agree with you guys that there is no "OMG" game on either console yet, but my rational was I was going to play all the games anyways BF4, COD, AC, and the rest, so I might as well play them on next gen. They are not OMG better but they are a lot better.

This is true. Having played BF4 on both the PS3 and PS4, it's light-years better on the next gen console.

That said, if you put off buying one until next Christmas (say), Infamous and games like that will still be waiting for you when you buy. They're not going anywhere. Titanfall is the only real exception IMO, because it's always nice to get in on the ground floor with shooters IMO.

The gameplay video of Thief makes me really want it. But the embargo going all the way up to release day and the general lack of any kind of marketing is making me really leery. Definitely interested in user reviews on this one.

I am not really feeling this game. The trailer they released a few weeks ago made the game look rather boring.

From this video (17 minutes of the first mission), it seems like it will be more akin to the first two thief games (which were essentially pure stealth games, with very little fighting). I'm stoked.

Thief Specs:

Thief: 1080p/30 PS4 900p/30 XB1
Why do people keep posting stuff like this? It would be rare if anyone is able to see the difference at normal viewing distances so this is not an issue.

The features the console are bringing is what everyone should be looking at. I'll eventually buy both but this is a non-issue to me.

haha, you gotta love the crowd here. Because this is a non issue to you, we can't bring up the resolutions of new games for each system?
