The gameplay video of Thief makes me really want it. But the embargo going all the way up to release day and the general lack of any kind of marketing is making me really leery. Definitely interested in user reviews on this one.
I am not really feeling this game. The trailer they released a few weeks ago made the game look rather boring.
If you've ever played a Thief game, then you know what you're getting into. It's a stealth game. If you're looking for action, look elsewhere.

Never played it, will probably get it when it comes down in price though

Been playing the Titanfall beta pretty obsessively the last two days. I went in pretty pessimistic (not a big CoD fan and this looked like CoD with mechs) but I don't think I've had this much fun with a new game/demo in years. The number of P's in the resolution of the game could not have been further from my mind while running around having a blast.

I was considering making the switch if the March 11th update didn't go well but between this, Gears, and Halo there's just no way I could miss out on all that MP goodness. I wish it were multi-plat as I really think it could replace Call of Duty as the go-to shooter if it were.

Why do people keep posting stuff like this? It would be rare if anyone is able to see the difference at normal viewing distances so this is not an issue.

The features the console are bringing is what everyone should be looking at. I'll eventually buy both but this is a non-issue to me.
haha, you gotta love the crowd here. Because this is a non issue to you, we can't bring up the resolutions of new games for each system?
Where did I say you could not bring it up? I asked why people kept bringing it up? I was curious why people post them when you can't tell the difference when playing and yes it is a useless bit of information that wastes space in my opinion.

So you can understand I'll say it one more time slowlllllyyyy just for you. Post all the resolutions you want I could care less. Maybe next time you will understand what a question is.

Loving Titanfall so far. When I first started playing I just wanted to get wall-run kills. Most fun I have had playing a game in a long time.

I want to get Thief, but thinking about waiting to I pony up and get a XB1 or a PS4 before buying it on the XB360

Re the bolded. If you're playing on a small-ish television or sitting far enough away from it, you won't notice 900p vs. 1080p. If you're playing on a large television or sitting close to it, you absolutely will. When I'm watching a movie on the little television in my bedroom, it doesn't matter if it's a regular DVD or a Blu ray -- they look identical on that set. But the same source material looks radically different on my 60" set in the basement. The same goes for games, of course.

I get that resolution and graphics don't matter to you. (I suspect they really do matter to you at least a little, because why buy a next gen console so early if it's truly a non-issue, but I'll play along and pretend that you're really indifferent). Do realize though that not everybody has the same gaming setup as you, and some of us have different expectations than you in terms of what we expect from a "next gen" game.

In other words, if you own both consoles, it might be worth your while to have this kind of information when you're deciding which version of this game to buy. If you haven't bought a new console yet, it might be worth your while to notice the trend in multiplatform titles and to factor that into your purchasing decision. Or not, depending on your setup.

Does that answer your question?

I think the other important question is how much will this impact performance going forward? Is there room for the PS4 to keep improving in things like frame rate, computer AI, number of players on a server at one time, etc? Could the gap possibly widen? Or can developers eek out a bit more power from the XB1 and close the gap and make it meaningless?

What if Titanfall is 6v6 mostly because the XB1 couldn't handle more than that, but the PS4 could have? That doesn't matter for a platform exclusive, but for other games it could be a huge difference in the future. What if you can play 12v12 on the next COD on the PS4 but only a max of 6v6 on the XB1? Those things start to matter.

I stopped playing BF4 altogether once I started Titanfall. And I was playing BF4 1 to 2 hours a day (more on the weekends). It's hard to put my finger on, but something about the game makes it really hard to put down the controller.

Respawn said plainly they could have gone with more real players, but found that 6v6 was the sweet spot gameplay-wise.

How likely is this, though? Every generation there is a gap in power between the top couple of consoles and, unless something is a full generation behind like the Wii, I don't believe games have ever done this.

As long as they're close (and other generations seem to have had wider gaps than this one), the multi-plat developers will develop for the least powerful console. I can't think of any multi-plat games that were 16 vs 16 on a Playstation console and 8v8 on an Xbox console or vice versa even though every generation has had a power gap between the two one way or the other. The only place this could come into play is with exclusive shooters, and while games like Killzone and MAG are fun for a time they just don't compare to the big multi-plat heavy hitters or even the Xbox exclusive shooters.

Then again, maybe the whole notion just bothers me less in general because all of the shooters that I've enjoyed most (Gears, Left 4 Dead, Halo, and now Titanfall) use smaller teams.

Unless I'm mistaken, someone actually ran the numbers that showed that the power difference was actually a pretty good percentage higher this time around. AK maybe?

And there were definitely times where the difference was obvious last generation. Ask anyone that had Skyrim for the PS3 or who dealt with mic issues in BF3.

It is an honest answer yes.

I am curious did you size your TV for you viewing position? For a 60in TV you should be sitting at least 8ft away. Even then a DVD (480i) versus a 1080p picture should be noticeable. 720p/900p vs 1080p wile playing on a properly sized TV I doubt anyone would notice.

Graphics played no part in my decision to buy our Xbox Ones. I bought the Xbox simply to get rid of the PS/3 and have the HDMI Pass through. Knowing Forza and DeadRising were launch titles with Titanfall coming sold me on it. I'll pick up a PS/4 when a great title comes out like the Last of Us or Uncharted.

60" set and about 8 feet away. I don't know what to tell you with regard to resolution. I went from playing BF4 on the PS3 (720) one day to playing it on the PS4 (900) the next, and it was like playing two totally different games. Obviously part of that is improved textures and lighting, but the resolution sharpness, draw distance, and general lack of aliasing is unmistakable to me.

To each their own on the resolution thing (doesn't bother me as much, but I can understand that for some it does), but this particular example is poor. Of the differences between playing a game on a last-gen machine vs a current-gen one, the resolution that the game's are running is probably one of the smallest differences. For instance, BF4 looks significantly better on the XB1 than it does on the PS3 even though they're running the same resolution. This isn't the huge jump from 480p to 720p/1080p we're talking about here. Remember, for years we noticed massive jumps in graphics from one generation of consoles to the next without their being any change in resolution at all.

Going to have to start calling you 5 watt. Where did I say I was upset. I asked a simple question at least a few people here are bright enough to answer.

You do realize if you have a 60inch TV and sit 12ft away there is no benefit to 1080p over 720p? I personally have a 60inch and sit about 8-10ft away and would be hard pressed to tell you if a broadcast is 720p vs 1080p.

There's no question that the PS4 has more graphics processing power. I'm not convinced that it will very noticeable on non-exclusive games since they will be developed for the weaker system (X1). However, I do expect some amazing looking PS4 exclusives.

I did find this funny though.

It's becoming obvious the PS4 is pretty significantly superior from a horsepower perspective to the Xbone (the following has been pulled from another board) "due to the PS4's GPU being 50% more powerful and the ram. The Bone uses 8gb ddr3 ram, which is slower than 8gb gddr5 that the PS4 uses. Xbox1 does included an additional 32mb of ESRAM, which is expensive and fast. Only problem is that developers haven't perfected the use of it yet. MS probably thought they could rely on ESRAM is make up for the difference. However, the 32mb esram bottlenecks HARD. As a result its pretty much impossible for the Xbox one to output a 1080p picture with any anti aliasing in conjunction with fancy post processing effects such as DOF. Any game that makes the 1080/60 mark on xbone is definately lacking in post processing effects and/or anti aliasing.

On top of this the Xbone GPU only has 16 command units compared to 32 on the PS4. This inherently means the PS4 gpu can take double the information than the Xbone. The math simply isnt there, there is nothing that can really be done to negate these weakness's."

That said, it really is all about the games. This generation it just seems that the PS4 will be able to provider prettier games with better AI, more NPCs, and better effect that run at higher frame rates.

So pretty much the same exact argument as last go around?

From what I gather, the architecture was much closer last time. The PS3 may have been slightly more powerful, but more difficult to wring the last bit of power out, so both machines were really close. The PS4 seems to have been designed only to play games and thus is fairly simple to program for.

Naw, the argument last gen was which gaming system was better, the argument this time is whether or not the xbone voice activated media center can double as a gaming system. :gang2:

I was playing Titanfall on PC. I will say it is a very good game but it has too many things that I think detract from it to make it great.

The 6 V 6 is worrisome. I tend to like larger scale games and it was awesome but it is getting very repetitive very fast.

I have been a big fan of multi or single player only games under the premise that when a developer focuses on one thing they tend to nail it.

I like Titanfall it is fun, its just that for a multi only game it seems a little shallow.

I would still buy it but my underlying irrational fear about Titanfall is that with the twitch COD play, multi level game play and rodeoing I think this game may be like a troll griefing paradise.

BF 4 SA is out today, I know you have to get the trophies so you will be on tonight.

Oh and I have been distracted by the restart of Walking Dead.

Just played for a little bit, but all my guns and unlocks were gone. I assume this is just a case of DICE being DICE -- this was a semi-regular occurrence in BC2.

I actually have almost no trophies for BF4 despite being at level 57. When it comes to shooters, I generally just blow off trophies and play for the in-game unlockables, levels, etc. SP games on the other hand I tend to get obsessive about "completing." I'm looking at the trophy for beating Outlast on Insane difficulty and seeing the 0.1% completion rate and just knowing that I can do it if I spend some time practicing a few key areas. Yeah you're right about me being a little OCD.

An interesting read on why MS should sell Xbox product line from Forbes

Not much going on for PS4 today other than repeated pimping of sales numbers so here is some sweet Titanfall concept art for the Xboys

Amazon has tomb raider for 39.99 for xbox one and ps4 as their gold box deal.
Was gonna get it, but realized it will be cheaper in a few months and I dont mind waiting a bit. I actually bought this for 10 bucks on the 360 and never played it, probably better off waiting a lil while and experiencing the game on the PS4

This is off-topic because it's not championing my console of choice or bashing my console of dis-choice, but I have to chime in here and say that Tomb Raider never clicked with me the way it did with other people. I played it on PS3 and it was strictly a one-and-done game. I have basically no interest whatsoever in a cross-gen version, so I can wait until the inevitable PS+ release.

This, if you can wait Tomb raider is a top candidate for a later freebie on plus. Any recent Xbox converts who are not familiar with PSPLUS playing the guessing game as to what you can get free in a few months is a very useful skill.

If a game is boderline buy for you here are some key points to deciding to purchase.

Here are the high points from the article on what games are most likely to be yours for free in a few months:

1. Sony first party = since they own the titles are the easiest to give away later.

2. Titles that have a big sequel coming up = the free prior version gets the masses pumped up for the new version

3. Prior PS Plus partnerships

4. Ability to monetize add ons when the game is given away free

As it stands now the 5 most likely current games that will be free on plus withing a year are: (in descending order)

1. Knack (Sony title with sequel on the way)

2. Killzone (Sony title)

3. Doki Doki Universe (Sony monetize)

4. Tomb Raider ( Square Enix partnership)

5. Injustice Gods Among Us (WB past contributions)

This is why I passed on Killzone, to me that is a sure fire PSPlus game down the road

My bad man I used to just slap the whole link in there and I recently started trimming them down and I apparently suck at it. I fixed this one and will go back and see what I can correct.

The X1 is selling twice as fast as the 360, it's just getting outsold by the PS4. IMO the X1 is running into the same problem the PS3 did - it's not worth the additional price compared to its competitor. If they were both $399 I believe sales would be roughly even.
Yeah, the Xbox is selling very well by historical standards. It's just that the PS4 is selling super-duper well. Also, I heard there's some obscure game coming out in March that might cause Xbox sales to tick up a little. Let's give it a few more months before we write off the whole console.

I agree that the $100 is a major factor. The price difference affected PS3 sales and that seemed more justifiable for purchasers since it had a bluray player and bluray players alone were still $200-300 by themselves. The PS3 was pretty widely recognized as being the best bluray player available at the time as well.

This time around, I think people still just view the Kinect stuff as a novelty. Sure, it can do some fun stuff, but nothing that most people want to pay an extra hundo for
