Yahoo Playoff Brackets (1 Viewer)

12 team league ... Top 6 make the playoffs ... #1 and #2 seed have a first round bye.

I am the #1 seed. The #6 seed (lowest ranked team in playoffs) beat the #3 seed in round one. Logic would tell you that the #1 seed would play the lowest remaining seeded team in round 2 but Yahoo didn't do that. The #1 seed is playing the #4 seed in round two while the #2 seed who also had a round one bye gets to play the #6 seed.

Anyone have something similar occur in their league?

It depends on how the playoffs are set up. I'm not sure if Yahoo has an option but there are two ways to set them up. 1) The Highest ranked teams always plays the lowest ranked team (in other words, teams are re-seeded after each round). 2) The matchups are pre-determined so #1 will play the winner of the 3/6 matchup no matter who it is. This is how it's done in the NCAA basketball tourney. That's why you'll see 1/8 matchups in the second round as well as 13/14 matchups.

First thing I thought to check also. I'm the commish and I checked ... No option.

I thought there was an option on playoff seeding under the scoring and setup window, but I just looked and couldn't find anything. Maybe there's an option for the commissioner to set it up as a fixed bracket or reseed when the league is formed.ETA: Are you playing with or without divisions? That's the only other thing I can think of that might change how the playoffs are operated.ETA II: Yahoo sometimes takes a day or so to correct itself. It might just be a computer/yahoo error and it will get fixed.

Yep, that's just how Yahoo does it. Lucky me - similar league (6 in the playoffs, top 2 get byes) and I'm the #2 seed playing the #6.

Right, there is no option. They set it up and let the brackets go as they are....ie, no re-seeding.

It's how Yahoo does it. As much as I like Yahoo's scoring engine and simplicity, it's one of the many reasons why I am changing to somewhere else.

Since previous weeks scores areirrelevant, is it possible to jerry rig last week's games after the fact to have the match-ups the way you want them?

It's absolutely ridiculous that Yahoo hasn't added re-seeding to their leagues. It would be so damn easy to code.

Because of the bracket? Its Yahoo!, what do you expect?
I never said "just because of the bracket", sheesh. For a free live scoring site I would say it does fairly well. Laugh all you want, but I would say Yahoo has been one of the most solid performance sites out there. I just wish they allowed leagues to customize.Main point is that for my league, people want Live Scoring as they watch the game with their laptops up. I care about a site that supports that and has about 90% of the functionality I need. Your league may be different, but as Commish I have to be concerned about what the league wants most. Right now, I am looking at leagues that support double headers to have division brackets play out better, seeding, blind bidding, and a few other items. Yahoo doesn't support this, but anything I look at has to offer similar performance in live scoring.

In the divisional playoffs, the No. 1 seed is assured of playing the lowest-seeded Wild Card survivor.I will live, but its kind of confusing why they would do it different from the NFL.
In the OP's league (and many other 14 teamers, including mine), the top 2 seeds are receiving a bye into what would be considered the conference championship round. They're not playing in the "divisional playoff" round. What you're asking for is the equivalent of the #1 overall seed (which doesn't actually exist) being able to play the weakest conference championship game participant.

didn't realize people actually played reseed. seems to take FFL away from the structure of real playoffs. whats the point of a tournament bracket then?

You are not reading that right. In the NFL the #1 seed is on a bye, if #6 wins and #4 wins, then the following week the #1 who had the bye will be playing #6 (lowest-seeded Wild Card survivor)Yahoo makes the #1 play the winner of #4 vs #5 no matter what.

No, you're not reading it right. You're missing that in the NFL, there is a whole other round of the playoffs that is beyond what we are talking about here. The NFL playoffs and fantasy football playoffs are completely different animals.

Are you purposely being stubborn for a reason? A 6 team FF playoffs is like a Conference playoff setup. Two teams on a bye where the #1 seed plays the lowest remaining seed. Unless you have a 12 team playoff with 4 teams on a bye in your FF league, you aint doing it like the NFL.

I’m in a Yahoo league and yes, it does not reseed, the 1 always plays the 4/5 winner, and the 2 always plays the 3/6 winner. I complained about this a few years back when I was the 1 seed and out of a bye I had to play a 4 seed while the 2 seed got to play the 6 seed. Well I ended up looking like a fool because I beat the 4 seed but would have lost to the 6 seed. I ended up moving on to the SB and winning it. But a lot of the owners gave me crap about it. This year I’m the 1 seed again and will play the 4 seed again while the 2 seed plays the 6 seed. Same exact scenario. However, I feel the 4 seed is much stronger than the 6 seed, so I wish it reseeded, but I’m keeping my mouth shut and hoping for the best. It is what is is. But I agree that every league including yahoo should reseed. It’s a huge flaw.

I had it the other way last year. Lost to the 4th seed but would have beaten the 6th seed and would have beaten the 4th seed the following week in the champ game. Sucked.

Does MFL? I am in an MFL league where a similar thing happened, but we have it written in our rules that we re-seed. With that said, i swear our commish had to manually reseed us as #3 lost this past week.

I think it does. I don't believe our commish had to reseed after the 6 beat the 3 this weekend but then again I could be wrong.

I take my playoffs of line when this situation occurs with Yahoo. Obviously I've annouced it in preseason so that there is no confussion come playoff time, but in my league the #1 seed has only won the championship once in 10 years so I'm not sure what seeding really matters.
