Why don't you like him?
Seriously? Talks too much, talks over the host, takes the "anxiety riddled dweeb" schtick to the extreme. Basically imo he is a cheap imitation Kornheiser in an unentertaining package. And last year towards the end he was on 3 or 4 days a week it seemed. The only cohost that wouldn't get old at that level is Gary. The best shows don't have CC on it.

Yea. I find him entertaining. The Fix is great for politics and I think he's generally pretty funny.

I think Gary was doing more of his 'real job' towards the end of the last season and couldn't make it to the shows. Therefore they needed to bring in a regular guy to take his place. CC was probably the one who could do it easiest.

Huh.  Glad for you I guess.  The schtick to me is like Tony to the nth degree.  Cilizza wears on me.  However, I WILL say he seemed much more "in his lane" as Gary puts it on the podcast today.  The interplay on his seats at the Nats game was funny.

ETA: I could also go forever without hearing Liz Clark hmm and haww around answers, and sigh and moan and generally be an annoying spinster hen.  So I don't think I'm a "typical" Kornheiser Show fan.

No Agenda Show - the best podcast in the universe. Listen to a couple episodes and it will open your mind.
I would say it's the best podcast for those that hate Hilary and Obama out there since Rush was relevant

The Joe Rogan Experience

Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast (and his Thursday Afternoon Just Before Friday Podcast)

Ari Shaffir's Skeptic Tank

Getting Doug With High

Radio Lab

The Nick Di Paolo Podcast

Not going to get in an argument, but if you have an open mind - listen to a couple episodes and they bring out the issues of how all media manipulates the news and what you hear. They do not lean one way or another, however my dad who is a diehard democrat said the same thing as you - he lasted 20 minutes. They have some great analysis and in a fun way, after 3 years of listening - I don't always agree but they have some great points and are entertaining - to each his own....

We're Alive has a sequel..
:link:

I hope it doesn't take 5 years to complete. I loved that I came to We're Alive late and it was already done. I could listen to 3 or 4 episodes a day and not have to wait for an in production hiatus.

It's only 6 episodes, and it's complete.  It's called We're Alive: Lockdown.

No link - grab it from your favorite podcast app.

Fantasy Football faves

Bloom's "On the Couch"

Chris Harris (formerly of ESPN) Harris Football podcast, Insightful and funny. If you haven't listened, you're missing out

CBS Sports Fantasy Football show- Sometimes pretty funny, sometimes a bit too cute for its own good

"The Most Accurate Podcast", A little dry, but Paulsen knows his stuff

First 35-40 minutes of the Audible, Dr Gene's injury insights and the highlights of the news. Once you're past that then it's pretty mundane

I am enjoying the new TK show though I miss the 15 minutes they have cut out. It feels a little rushed to me. But just one Cilizza appearance per week is great and Tony seems kind of reenergized. I do wish Kip Sheeman could be on there...he's great.

Kip will be there in the winter. His forecasts will be regular!!!

Mr. Tony is back today! Finally. Missed it.

Also apparently Chris Cillizza is starting his own podcast.
I listened to his first 2 shows back and its just not good.  The format was rushed and way too many people trying to be funny.
Was it the Cillizza show or the Mr. Tony show?

If it's Mr. Tony, I think you're right about it being rushed. I think they are trying to fit an hour and twenty minutes into just over an hour with only the ~3 minutes about PTI being removed.

It's also only the now only the second week, they will get it together.

it was the Mr tony show from the link above

Too many people interjecting and no flow.

As I said above, hopefully they will take a bit and look back on it and adjust. Part of the problem is the fact that they stepped into a time when a bunch of stuff was exploding all at once; College FB, NFL, Presidential Race, MLB towards playoffs, plus they had to catch-up on all that happened over the summer. :2cents:

I like the Lexicon Valley podcast from slate, but that's pretty :nerd: -y. Just the standard warning that "this podcast contains explicit language" cracks me up every time.

Also useful is the "Sleep With Me" podcast, which is a guy with the most boring voice in the universe telling dumb meaningless stories that go nowhere in a near whisper. Guaranteed to knock one out in mere minutes at night.
Wish I had found Sleep With Me podcast sooner. On a scale of 1-10, I'm about a 7 or 8 in terms of difficulty falling asleep, but this works for me. A small miracle if the success continues.

Caution: Do not operate machinery while listening to this.

Two good ones I've discovered recently that I haven't seen mentioned here:

1.  The Dollop w Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds- one comedian researches a strange-but-true historical tale and tells it to another comedian, who doesn't know what's coming  Some examples: Hetty Green, the Witch of Wall Street and Fed Ex Flight 705. If you liked that thread we had going here about crazy Wikipedia entries, this one's for you.

2.  The Great Debates: Two comedians (often joined by guests) debate yes/no or pro/con of various things. Some recent examples:  "William Shakespeare saw a black woman naked," "The weatherman has the easiest job on a news team," "it would help Hillary Clinton if her email contained a draft of erotic Big Bang Theory fan fiction."  This would also be a good idea for a FFA thread, now that I think about it.
I really like The Dollop - thanks for the recommendations.  TGD was decent, but I didn't stick with it.

I'm only about two podcasts deep into Sam Harris' body of work, and I'm a big fan. Love his razor-sharp word precision,

I checked out Crimetown based on the write up in The Ringer and it is great.  The commute just flies by.  Kind of bummed I'm gonna catch up soon and then only get one new episode a week.

Also been listening to the serial fiction Homecoming, not a huge fan but it's at least an attempt at something new with the format. And the story is finally getting interesting after a few weeks of boring groundwork.  Plus it's always nice to be reminded of hot Catherine Keener was in Being John Malkovich.

I've been getting bored with live/interview type podcasts and have been checking out some other serial fiction so I'll check these out, thanks.

The Black Tapes and Tanis have been pretty corny, but at the same time really kept my interest and even given me the heeby jeebies a few times...if you're into anything paranormal.

Speaking of paranormal, I like The Boogiemonster Podcast. It's 2 comedians (Kyle Kinane and Dave Stone) who pretty much spend half the episode getting drunk/high and BSing about food. Then they discuss ghost/paranormal/conspiracy theory type stuff like 2 drunk/stoned guys who spent 5 minutes on Wikipedia. Very light stuff but I find it quite funny. Disclaimer: Kyle Kinane is my favorite comedian so this may not be for everyone.

My Brother, My Brother And Me - the McElroy brothers' weekly "advice" show. Hilarious imo

The Adventure Zone - the three from MBMBAM join their dad in a D&D campaign. My favorite podcast content of all time.
Still going strong and awesome.

Android users, what app do you prefer? I've been using PocketCasts for the last half year or so, switching from PodcastAddict.

Does anyone here listen to any of the Barstool Sports podcasts?

Pardon My Take is on another level and the video they just put on Twitter of the "exit interview" with Mark Schlereth honestly almost killed me.

I didn't know PFTCommenter had a corporeal form.  I'll check that one out.

I've been enjoying MBMBAM lately.  Take no thought, which is nice sometimes.

just started the CrimeTown one.. pretty good show so far..

I just cherry picked some episodes of Jonah Keri's Nerdist podcast, and it's worth listening to when he has an interesting guest.

Puck Soup is good, Biscuits is great so far (only about 10 episodes in) for hockey.

I finally dumped The Starters.  Funny guys, but there's only so much podcast time, and I've heard their bits by now.

I've been listening to "The Fall of Rome", it's pretty interesting. Same dude just started up a new one called "History Matters".
I listened to the first episode and it has potential. But after doing ~140-150 episodes of The History of Rome a couple years ago, I'm not sure I'm ready to go back there.

I tried one episode but something about the guy's delivery or accent or something was annoying. It seems to be highly thought of though.
I find it to be very good.  Completely humorless, though.  Duncan has a good sense of dry humor, but the Byz guy is just the facts.

I really like NPR's Hourly News Summary.  I think the thing I like most about it is that it's only 5 minutes long.

Any other short podcasts worth checking out?

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but 99% Invisible is a very good take on everyday architecture and design. Episodes are usually about 15-18 minutes and if you FF through the commercial and promos, they are only about 12 minutes. It is an interesting listen.

I started Byz, but haven't gone back to it in awhile.  I think I gave up in the middle of one of the end of century recaps that would go on for several episodes.  The combination of the guy having zero personality and the narrative flow stalled was a bit too much for me (I guess I could skip ahead, but there's just other stuff that I'd rather listen to.)
