YouTubeTV (4 Viewers)

Just canceled YouTube TV and went to Hulu Live to get ESPN / ABC games.

Two other friends in my college football group chat just did same canceling YT TV.

I have to think we're not outliers.
This gets settled before Monday night. There’s a Cowboys game on MNF that evening.

I would guess you're right. But not sure. There was a lot of push for college yesterday.

The trouble for Google is they've already lost me. I'm watching pre game right now on Hulu and don't plan on going back no matter when or if it gets settled.
What do you do for Sunday Ticket? Isn't that only on YTTV and kinda essential for you?

What’s this?

We tried Hulu live yesterday because prorated it would only be 9 bucks. I thought the app was atrocious. YTTV has them beat by many many many miles with the interface and ease of use. Can’t wait to go back.

Interesting. I just used Hulu live for a couple of college games and then ESPN this morning and Red zone today and the app was great. I say great as it just did what it was supposed to do in show me the shows super easily. Not much to it.

What did you not like about the app?

Haven't tried the App (hoping not to have it long enough to need to deal with the App).

Not a fan of the TV interface, and you are right the YTTV interface is awesome.

Another big deal, Hulu doesn't allow you to record entire leagues. You have to tell it to record each game individually.

First world problems, I know, but the YTTV feature is pretty awesome. I haven't had to remember to record a game in years.

Just announced Wednesday that Hulu Live and Fubo are combining

Disney will own 70% of the venture.
Yup. The timing of all this was not coicidence.

I would imagine Disney's plan is to wait for a good chunk of people to switch from YTTV to Hulu Live or Fubo over this before coming to a deal with Google, figuring a good chunk of that chunk will stay with them rather than switch back again after the deal is done.

Is the quality on NFL+ good? I'm going to have to do subscribe for 2 months to get redzone before next Sunday.

YTTV already pays more for the Disney package of channels than any other service, including old school cable.

Disney is market manipulating. It's ********. It's anticompetitive. They're obviously just trying to take out their top competitor in live streaming.

Just another example why I'll never pay for tv ever again. Bunch of monopolies with huge corporate greed. Too easy to get it all for free and I sleep pretty good at night.

Discovered DTV has the Redzone channel as well. Not something I was getting with my YTTV package.

The only thing that's missing (AFAIK) is multiview. And while that is a nice bell/whistle, it was distracting at times. Difficult enough to concentrate on one game with everything else in the house (read: smartphone).

I don't like multi-view so don't care there but I really like the YT interface and the wife is happy with it (change is not fun in this house). We watched games Sat on the ESPN app, which reminded me why I like YTTV. You can flip between games with one click. With the ESPN app you have to go back then find the other game(s) you want and start that game, then repeat. Also, in my experience, the stream quality is not that good on the app. Looks like you're watching a copy of someone's recording from their phone (not all games but some).

I'll give them a few more days or pause subscription and try something else before the weekend. I didn't know DTV has an app where you didn't need a sat dish, may look into that.

I wish they'd at least come to a partial agreement... why can't google/DIS agree on a deal for ESPN and ABC (and FX stations) for now, and work on DIS content later? I'm an empty nester so don't care much about Disney content.

Just give me ESPN channels and ABC. I do have an antenna for ABC, though, but would prefer it all in one app.

Yttv adding redzone was so much easier than cable. Click add 9.99.... cancel easily

I'm willing to give YoutubeTV a short leash to get a deal worked out in the coming days, but truthfully I'll cancel in a week if they haven't worked something out. The price just isn't worth it without ESPN. Most of what I watch is college football and college basketball - I need ESPN for those. Not sure if the answer is the ESPN app, or a different service, but I'm gone from YoutubeTV in a week or so if they don't get this settled.
Same.

On a side note I’ve been looking at switching our mobile carrier and TMobile has a package where you get Hulu Live, Netflix, and Apple+ included.

My cell bill would stay the same but I would save $85 a month by cancelling youtube tv.
I think it's just Hulu, not Hulu live
Well dang. Thanks.

This has motivated me to reconnect my rooftop antenna that was there when I bought the house 20+ years ago. Its huge, rotates and the entire house is already wired with coaxial and fiber. Im near DC so the OTA signals are strong and the picture quality is better than everything else.

Been awhile since Ive checked my attic so who knows what other disaster I will discover.

Just got an email from Disney+ informing me of their fairly significant rate increase. I'm sensing a theme here. Would love to cancel that one but the kids would revolt.

These things are just going to keep going up forever. At an even faster rate than cable did.

They all priced below what they could make money at to try and capture market. None of them captured the market but now they're all feeling the bleed and have to try to start making money.

Disney+ launched at $5/mo and it wasn't even that long ago. Now it's $18.99. Crazy.

Sorry, this is just going to be the ##### about Hulu thread. Please YTTV get this fixed. Charge more, I don't care.

You can't fast forward through commercials on Hulu Live.........what century is this?

You can try to, but you have to watch at least 2-3 minutes of the ad break screen depending on how far you are trying to go.

Antenna is pretty sweet picture, surprised....still sucks if game is ESPN

Ok for now
Antenna is the most pure signal. Directly from the source.

For cable and cable streamers, it's not really the pure signal anymore.

There's much more scientific way to explain that.

Whelp, DirecTV ain't the answer either.

I recorded the Florida/Arizona basketball game. The recording cut off at the end of the scheduled broadcast time, with still 5 minutes left in the game.

As I'm sure you all know, sporting events rarely end at the scheduled time. Usually they go well beyond that. YTTV is smart enough to extend the recording until the event actually ends. DTV apparently is not. Dumb.

So are those garbage college football games going to be on YTTV during the week? Not sure if they are ESPN and I would hate to be deprived of Kennesaw State / UTSA or whatever.

when i had dtv there was an option to extend live recordings, 30mins, 1 hour, etc. i would always add time, especially for hockey. recording would stop in OT and if there was a shootout, i’d never know the outcome.

I always had to add the max time to the recording for live sporting events. I think it was 2 hrs. It gave you the option for the recording to end at the scheduled time or add time to the end. I learned the hard way in a playoff basketball game that went double OT and then cut out with under a minute left in the second OT while it was still tied. Sucked.

Also terrible that if you have a show that you normally record if it was on Sunday night and got pre-empted by a game that went past it usual time then you missed the whole show episode because it started recording on time and ended on time while the show actually started 25 minutes late and ended 25 minutes late. Lots of issues with DTV recording back in the day. Sounds like it is still happening.

For me, like it or not, YTTV is by far the best option. I'll just wait and hope Disney stops being a ****. Personally, I'm on the YTTV side on this one.

Sure, YTTV is losing money, but isn't the NFL also losing too? I have no idea how all these huge sums of money flow, but it can't be good for the NFL that viewers cultivate new habits ways and chose to spend time differently while Google and Disney fight over money.

Anecdote time: For first year ever I am ignoring Thursday night games. I turn in a low effort Wednesday evening sanity check to set my lineup, and then ignore the NFL until Sunday. Highly recommend.

I ignore it all together. Even higher recommendation.

Seriously. There are what 5x, 6x, 10x as many commercials than there are plays? Oh, 30 second timeout, let's go splitscreen for another commercial!
It's starting to become an unbearable product.

Has been for awhile imo. If it wasn’t for gambling and fantasy, NFL would be toast. I’ll still put the Pats on in the background if it’s a 1 o’clock game but that’s about the extent of my viewership these days.

Yes this Hulu **** sucks. This isn’t the answer. Get this figured out.
What's bad about Hulu? I'm on the ESPN Fox bundle for November but I can't stand the ESPN interface.

That was my question.

I've used Hulu Live for a few days now and it seems great. Every bit as good as YT TV was.

But I'm also not a power user for watching TV.
I didn’t see Wreck’s question. I can’t stand the Hulu interface. Clunky and slow for me. YTTV is perfect imo but everybody’s mileage will vary here. I cancelled Hulu yesterday and will just wait this out. Not missing much with cfb and I get all my Sunday nfl.

It is sad when I pay over 100 bucks a month and have to pirate ABC on a streaming site. Guess it is time to buy an antenna.
So stupid how much everyone pays for tv.

I’m not rewarding Disney in this. I’d cancel both first.
This will be the first carrier of many to dump them. They want to sell exclusively direct to consumer. That's what's coming.
Yeah - this is not a traditional carrier dispute. Disney doesn’t want their stuff back on YTTV.

The cable era was great for people who love sports because the people who don’t watch sports covered the costs with us equally. That era is over, and now we gotta pay for it.

I watch less and less now. Games only on Apple TV oh well, I have prime and barely watch. Tired of nickel and diming for everything. If ESPN never comes back I'll get over it pretty quickly. I don't watch hockey like I used too cause of the last strike, baseball similar. Nfl way less.

They really only care about the all mighty dollar, I refuse. Sure I'm probably an outlier but whatever. I dumped cable because of the price and that was a huge undertaking to get the family on board

Ha, streaming companies are tightening up free trial terms. I signed up for free 5-day trial soley to watch Spurs/Lakers tonight, and first order of business was to cancel my subscription, but Fubo greets me with this: "If you cancel now, your trial will end immediately and you will not be eligible for another free trial."

Keep scheming guys.
