Those are some big ones, it should be fun to watch. I just watched some of his Vanderbilt videos, he looked great. The Jags are basically an SEC level team

The sample size is 10 carries and 2 receptions. I just went back and watched all of Stacy, Pead, and Cunningham's plays and here is the breakdown.

Cunningham:

  • AZ - no touches
  • ATL - rush for no gain, rush for no gain (2 total touches)
  • DAL - 1yd rush, 1yd rush, 5yd rush, 6yd rec., 9yd rush (5 total touches)
  • SF - 17yd rec., rush for -1, rush for -1, successful 2pt conversion, 1yd rush, 7yd rush (6 total touches)
Stacy:

  • AZ - 4 yard rush
  • ATL - no touches
  • DAL - no touches
  • SF - no touches
Pead:

  • AZ - inactive
  • ATL - 1yd rush, 9yd reception, 9yd reception (3 total touches)
  • DAL - 14yd rec., 4yd rush, 8yd rec., 11yd rush, 3yd rush, 6yd rec., 1yd rush, 1yd rush, 2yd rec., 7yd rec., rush for no gain, 4 yard rec., 2yd rec. (13 total touches)
  • SF - inactive
Okay, so I'll start by pointing out the obvious. Stacy's sample size is limited to a total of 1 carry, and it was a draw play where he had a large hole in front of him and he got what was there (4yds.) Cunningham's sample size is a little larger, and he has three carries where he actually gained something. On the 5yd rush v. DAL there was nowhere to run and he reversed and made a good cut to the other side to salvage yards. His 9yd rush v. Dallas had a huge open lane and it was the last play of the game. The 7yd rush v. San Fran was a good run where he received decent blocking and followed them well. Pead has two rushes for decent gains. His 4yd rush was a draw play where he had plenty of room and got what was there. The 11yd run was his best of the bunch, and he was able to break a tackle just past the line of scrimmage and make the gain.

I didn't mention the runs for no gain or 1yd because they are attributable to the terrible run blocking and not the RBs themselves. I watched every one of those plays for Cunningham and Pead, and there was nowhere to go. They were either hit in the backfield, or the Stl. line couldn't get any push whatsoever beyond the LOS. They appeared to have more success on draw plays. This is the main problem, and none of them are going to be fantasy relevant as long as this is an issue, no matter who is starting.

I have to disagree that Cunningham has looked very average and undynamic. Like the others, he has had nowhere to run on 8/10 carries. Stacy only has one touch all season, and I could have gained the same amount of yardage on the play. Not to say he isn't good, but we simply don't know. Also, if you take a look at the trends in # of touches, Stacy received his sole touch in the first game and hasn't seen one since. Cunningham has seen an increase in the number of touches each consecutive game. Take all of this how you will, but if I were personally to stash one of the RBs it would be Cunningham. Sorry for raining on the hype train, but I figured some people would find the above info useful.

Agree with the analysis above. For what its worth, I just dropped Richardson and picked up Stacy. Had Cunningham stashed earlier. With the RB pool being thin this season, it's worth the roster spot should one of these two arise Week 5. It's pretty much a gamble guessing who based off the sample size we have at the moment.

 
So, he's practically a week-1 rookie participating in his first live game. Against the Jags, at home, I can deal with that.

Wow, the timing of this couldn't have been better i suppose. Going against a weak Jack team and Stacy might finally get some serious PT.

Hopefully he does something with the opp, if it's really even there. I've been holding him in a dynasty league waiting to see what he's really got. This should be a telling week.

 
I just picked him up. Not starting him, but would like him to play good enough to take the reins of the STL backfield for good.

 
Per Rotoworld: ESPN Rams blogger Nick Wagoner believes "it seems as though it’s time" for rookie Zac Stacy to "at least lead the committee" in St. Louis' backfield.
It's not clear if Wagoner has heard this at Rams Park or is simply throwing it out there, but 12- and 14-team leaguers could make worse use of a bench spot than to stash the fifth-round pick out of Vanderbilt. Stacy was a favorite of Rotoworld college prospects guru Josh Norris before April's draft. "I think Zac’s done a really good job since he’s been here," Sam Bradford said. "He’s a very talented runner. He’s a powerful guy. He’s got great vision. He makes cuts in the hole that are quick and decisive, so I’m excited to see him out there."

As my current RB roster includes Doug Martin)(bye), Steven Jackson(hurt), David Wilson, Jason Snelling, and Brandon Bolden, I am quite interested in any options for this week.
 
It might be worth a gamble. Richardson and Pead have done nothing, Cunningham could be a wild card. Besides the O=line I have my doubts about the head coach! How can you go 5 weeks into the season and then figure it's time to address the running game... doh! This might be the time to fix things against the Jags... or for the Jags to fix things v. the Rams? There-in lies the problem.

I have to say I'd be very surprised to see Pead go from street clothes to starter in one week. Stacy's in a different boat as a rookie trying to learn protection schemes and adjusting to the NFL. Also find it weird that Cunningham isn't mentioned by either outlet, though maybe the Rams are viewing him as a complementary guy or emergency guy. Who knows...

I've rostered the options where I can. Sunday should be interesting.

 
I understand that as owners were always trying to eek out as much value as possible, especially from this position but if there were ever a situation to avoid..this would be it.

Like I said, I'm hoping on this train in a deeper league because Stacy should be available but I couldn't imagine making room in a regular 10-12 man redraft league.

Can anyone run behind that line? I'm curious as a dynasty owner, but in redraft i'd say purely a flyer on a deep roster for a stash and sell if he flashes.

There is much more to being a good football player than physical skill & stats. Not saying Stacy is not going to be good but there are probably 100 more college players with similar physical skills and stats that will never see an NFL roster.

This is true but there's enough to be excited and the fact that he's starting means he's got a shot. Maybe a long shot, but still a shot.

 
May give him the start in my weak RB core dynasty team over J. Bell, alongside L. Miller. With SJax injured and L. Bell on bye it's a what-the-heck play.

I really want to get this kid in the lineup today, but MJD has to go and draw the Rams, which will fool me into starting him one more time.

I have them on different teams so I don't have your problem but I feel your pain - I would be in the start Stacy camp BUT we have no idea how many carries/touches he will get so really hard to do ... and yes I am starting MJD this week - maybe for the last time if he doesn't have a good game

Yeah, Stacy's a huge risk, and the rumors of the Jags looking to trade MJD is pretty big, imo. If they want to trade him by the deadline, they don't have much time to left to increase his value. Today's the day, if it's going to happen.

Got him starting after checking his status literally 10 minutes ago lol. With my rb depth shallow and Peterson on a bye, he's getting the start.
