***Howard Stern*** (7 Viewers)

Since my friend was at a BBQ of his yesterday, I feel safe in assuming that they didn't hold him over or he was sweating this too much. But then again, I don't think he would be sweating this no matter what he had in his system.
Artie's so fat he sweats peeling an orange.

Any updates on whether or not Melendez is out of a job?
I didn't hear anything on Stern, but from his wikipedia page..

The Jay Leno Show

Melendez will reunite with Leno and former Tonight bandleader Kevin Eubanks on The Jay Leno Show, albeit in a currently unknown capacity.[9] The late confirmation of his status on Leno's new prime time show led to speculation that he would not appear at all, and prompted a sarcastic job offer from Melendez's former boss Stern.[10]

I don't know if this has been posted here. I just heard about it. For you fans of Andrea, Miss Howard Stern:

Sometimes, when you least expect it, life drops something terrible in your lap. Sadly, what happened this weekend to my dear friend Andrea Ownbey, felt less like a surprise than it should have. I’m writing this blog to update my friends and fans that also happen to be her friends and fans. For those of you who don’t know, Andrea Brooke Ownbey has been the reigning Miss Howard Stern on the Howard Stern Show for years now. I think she had over 65 appearances on the show last time I checked. If you knew that, then you also know, my girl is crazy. She even has ‘crazy beautiful’ tattooed on her foot. She lives life in the fast lane and drives recklessly.Early Monday morning, Andrea was in a severe car wreck. The first call I got was from a very close friend who informed me that they weren’t sure if Andrea was going to make it. She sustained serious injuries to her skull and had to have liquid drained off of her brain. As of today, she is in somewhat stable condition, but still in the hospital. She has some very difficult days ahead of her and will need the love and support of her fans who she loves more than life itself. The day of her accident I sat and looked at all the pictures and videos I had of us. I thought about all the crazy, fun, annoying, stupid times we’ve spent together. I read her myspace and watched the videos on it. You know, Andrea is pretty f’in’ awesome and despite some of the hellish adventures she’s taken me on, we’ve had some amazingly fun times together too. Patron and chocolate lava cake, forever!I wish her all the best as she recovers and I encourage anyone who is a friend or fan of hers to go by her myspace and leave her a comment of well wishes. I know she will be checking them on her blackberry as soon as she comes to. Nothing, not even death, will keep Andrea off her blackberry.

Looks like this was updated to say John will be a show writer, but perhaps no longer on camera.
The Jay Leno Show

Melendez will reunite with Leno and former Tonight bandleader Kevin Eubanks as a member of the writing staff on The Jay Leno Show.[9] Confirmation of his status on Leno's new prime time show came later than that of Eubanks, weeks after the end of Leno's tenure on The Tonight Show, which led to speculation that he would not appear at all. Melendez's ambiguous job status prompted a sarcastic job offer from his former boss Stern.[10] It is unclear if Melendez's job title as writer will preclude him from appearing on camera as he did on Tonight.

Probably the most boring week of radio they've ever done. :goodposting:

Dying Gary's beard? C'mon. Thank God for Sal.

I am a huge Stern fan and I have been listening since the late 80's and you are right... HORRIBLE week of radio. They put Artie on a leash and every time he does speak up, Howard just ignores him and moves on. The show has absolutely no flow to it right now.

My original Sportster was on the fritz last month at the same time my subscription came up for renewal. I didn't renew. I miss the music, but I haven't missed Howard a bit.

Was talking to a friend about this, I was very letdown this week. I think 3 of my morning commutes I had to hear Howard moan about Gangie for the full 45 minutes. In his original blowout he put John Hein in the class of people who should not come into the studio. So John respects his wishes and then he gets yelled at that he would never be put in that group. And god forbid John has a 1 minute personal talk with Robin in a break every month or so. There have been some hints lately about personal stuff Howard's dealing with, of course he won't go into them. He's really coming across as a grumpy old man. Uninspired radio coming out of a vacation.

Yeah, they usually come out of a vacation with a lot of things planned. Not this time.

Show has been horrible as of late. Howard makes me sick with how scared he is to say anything controversial at this point, about a celebrity. He needs to put a disclaimer on anything remotely controversial or critical about a celeb anymore.

He turned into the biggest ##### in the business.

Remember the "Miss Howard TV for September" they had in studio today, Alexis Ford?

Howard and Robin were going on and on about how hot she is, and "OH MY GOD... SHE is doing porn???"

I couldn't wait to get home and check her out.

REALLY???

<_< :D :X

Is it just me, or is Gary not doing his job?

It seems like every guest they have lately has been on the show umpteen times already.

How about somebody new or interesting for a change?!?!

What sort of stuff? I do not get to listen to the entire show so I am sure I missed something.

That's the point, he'll say 'I was out all day yesterday dealing with some things' in a tired voice and you can almost hear Robin and Artie nod but they won't call him on it and badger him to share the details. Nothing can remain private for Artie - Howard becomes passive aggressive to make him spill everything, but Howard is not as open as he maybe once was. Turned on the radio this morning - another crappy mammory lane.

Geez, lately...if they didn't tell you they were replays, you almost couldn't tell since he has all the same guests over and over the last few months...

I disagree. Artie chooses to say what he wants. The fact is that he barely has anything to contribute to the show other than his screwed up personal life, which makes for entertaining stories.

Wow. What has happened to this once great show. Even last year was decent compared to this crap. It has fell off the cliff in quality and Howard just seems bored and irriated.

What are the thoughts on his status at the end of 2010?

I think he'll 'announce' a retirement and then at the end of the year agree to come back on an even more limited basis.

What happened with Artie/Gilbert? I missed that segment.
Surprisingly, Gilbert went for a lot of racist humor, especially the N word, and was continually interrupting the news. Artie jumped in and was perhaps even more to blame, but Robin couldn't even get through a sentence during the news and she and Howard were none too pleased.I thought it was funny though, and the only problem for Howard and Robin was that they couldn't blast through the pointless news like usual.
fixed, I'm guessing. In the past, Howard would've been right there with them.
:sadbanana: Listen to Gilbert sitting on the news from 3/7/01 (mammary lane yesterday) and he and howard going off on camille grammer's IBS. Robin could barely get through a sentence, but it was all good then. Very different.

I heard that Joan Rivers will be back on again next week!
I actually wouldn't mind if Howard let Artie rip into her like you know he wants to. That would be good radio!
I was actually kidding when I wrote that because she has been on like 5 times in the last two months. Who cares about her?I agree with one of the other posters who said that Gary is really dropping the ball on the guests that are coming in. Last week was BRUTAL!!! Charlie Murphy? Give me a break! I can see letting him come in once, but this was the second time. It also seems like the guests that they are getting are also the same guests that other stations on Sirius are getting. IT could be that they are just on their press junkets and come in on Sirius day. Throw in the contest that they are having now for "Do Gary's Job" and you get an feeling that he is having a hard time getting top notch guests. Over the years, I have been a HUGE Howard supporter, but this thing is going downhill.....and FAST!!!

I've heard the Mr. Blackswell interview twice now and cried laughing at Billy West. Man, I miss him on the show.....

I think that this was at least the third time that Charlie Murphy's been in.

The people working the talk show circuit with something to promote are always going to be the main guests that all shows get. I think the main reason that we see the same ones time and time again is that Howard has the final yes/no vote on guests and he only wants ones that he can put a Howard angle of questions onto. Unfortunately he seems to enjoy the same line of questioning with the same guests more then ever before.

I have been a fan forever but Psychiatric Howie is not nearly as good an interviewer as Horny Howie, or sexually frustrated Howie ever was. He spends so much time trying to get into people's heads rather then letting the train wreck ensue.

:D I don't put the blame on Gary for booking crappy guests because on the wrap up show he has consistently answered that Howard has final say on bookings. If that was incorrect Howard would belittling him the next day.

Err ahh...another Vacation...err ahh another dead famous person that Howard would have loved to comment on.

Err ahh :golfclap:

Here's more news that the gang could have discussed today...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090826/ap_en_tv/us_tv_don_imus

Radio host Don Imus to end simulcast on RFD-TV

Don Imus and the RFD cable network say they've mutually agreed to end the TV simulcast of Imus' weekday radio talk show.

This Friday will mark the final telecast of "Imus in the Morning" on Nashville-based RFD-TV after nearly two years.

Imus has reportedly been in discussions to make Fox Business Network his new TV outlet.

Originating from New York, he will continue to be heard on 65 radio affiliates across the country.

Say what you want about the show, but when they turn on Fred's Imus impression and Howard's Booey...I still laugh my ### off.

The cancer ranch stuff yesterday was a riot. "Pretty soon you have one kid digging eight holes"

We get it, Howie... you invented EVERYTHING IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD! :football:

Just stay home and let your staff play Tradio calls all day.

:lmao: What I didn't like is his lambasting of Leno and Limbaugh for selling out, while he's shilling Klondike Bars, Ashly Madison, GotoMyPC, etc...

Thank God someone finally got through to Howard about saying "The fact of the matter is" all the time.

I skimmed a listening thread over at SFN the other day, it's really true that nobody over there likes him anymore. And they still continue to listen regularly, I'd imagine.
