Now it's very clear that The Sopranos isn't over.
you say that like it's a bad thing
yes, I do. When I expected an ending.
You got an ending. Phil's dead. WTF is wrong with you people? Are we watching the same show?
I don't care about the NY family. I wanted a resolution to The SopranosI didn't get it.

Can the show do no wrong with you?
You got a resolution. His family is safe. Why would it be more of a resolution if everybody died? Makes no sense. How many times has a season ended with Tony and his family? 1, 2, 3, 6 and now 7. And yes, I thought the middle 15 minutes was boring. The last 20 minutes ruled though.
:goodposting: It's very clear IMO.

All you guys looking for blood and guts need to watch a different show. This show has always been about Tony and how everything around him effects his family.

As I am sure has been posted in this thread previously, the final scene supposedly takes place in an ice cream parlor - my guess is that there will either be a "Valentine's Day Massacre" type scenario or Tony will peruse the various selections and choose plain vanilla onion rings.
:goodposting:

I'm trying to think of what people wanted to see at the end? Tony get popped? By whom? Why? Doesn't make sense. He solved his Phil problem, both of his families are safe, show is over. What was everybody expecting there.
I wanted Tony to wipe out the whole crew with the automatic rifle, and then become the head boss. I was expecting to be dissapointed, and that's what I got.If Chase was going for the "no end" to keep people talking he accomplised that.
I've told you this. You're watching the wrong show for that.

will all the apologists get it straight. Not everyone needed blood and guts. Even a "rat" storyline would have sufficed. Something!

my call on the last scene

the reason he cuts it out before the song ends is because we all know the way the song ends and Chase is not about finales, he's about capturing a time in the life of this family... It's not about the end of the song, not even about the beginning of it, it's about hearing a bit of it, knowing where you stand and then moving on.... I think we are left to realize that Tony's got his family with him, his 'family''s back in a place where he can make his money and he lives to fight another day..

Maybe he goes to jail, maybe he doesn't but this is the kind of life this guy leads, unlike the rest of the world he has to worry that somebody is out there ready to take him out not just worried about his kid getting playing time on his little league team. .

Perfect ending

Bars slamming in his face. End scene. Would have been good enough. This was a cheap copout of the highest offer. Can't believe how many apologists are in this thread.

Can anybody please tell me how this high society family with the fancy cars, big houses, disposable income, and the taste for the finer things in life is suddenly eating at some dive diner sharing onion rings?!?

It's over. I spent 50 of the 55 minutes waiting for SOMETHING to happen.

Oh goody, Phils dead. What a great ending. Fantastic even.

I gave it a chance up until the end, and it turned out to be a show that could never live up to the first two seasons. People saying how good it is/was has fallen into the trap and do not remember what a good tv show is. "You can't appreciate what Chase gave you..." No, I watched for entertainment and he was not able to deliver.

Typical FFA, just like eating at a chain rest., it's cool to go against the norm and love how this ending played out.

If 95% of the shows viewers hated the last episode, does that mean it was great? I can't imagine the people involved would be excited that almost everyone would hate the way it turned out.

If the Sopranos were a stock, it just bottomed out.

You got a resolution to the Phil thing. If they left THAT open, you'd be justifiably upset. I really don't get this beef.

What about those of us who have always understood that and still didn't care much for the ending?
if you didn't like the ending that's fine....but to all those who didn't think there was closure....there was.
I disagree. There was no closure whatsoever. The series didn't end; it just went on and on and on.Yea I get it. Like I said before, it's been done. The "it's not really an ending" ending. I just don't see the creativity or originality in that.

Why not just put Green Day in the finale singing American Idiot? Or too much a ripoff of Seinfeld finale? Damn you, Green Day! You sneaky, cheeky bastards!

A cool ending would have Tony getting popped but not by NY but by Adriana's mom.
Eh. 24 did that in Season 3 (Stephen Saunders, the lead villian, gets killed by the wife of one of Saunders' victims.) Believe me, it's not all it's cracked up to be.Now the brusing guy that was Tony's original bodyguard? That would have been something.

So you only would have liked one of the following options:a) Tony deadb) Tony in jailc) Tony in witness protection?Maybe I'm not 100% right here, but the "apologists" have provided some damn good explanation on why it was "really an ending"

I wanted an end to The SopranosThat didn't happen.

Now what...I wait and speculate on a movie, or a return years down the road?

Endless talk in the media about a possible movie...whoopie!

I never thought there was any way Chase was going to kill off Tony. That would've taken some huge stones and I never thought that would have happened. I didn't think he would flip either. Tony going to jail, left alone, deserted by his family (the only thing that really means anything in his life) would have been an ending that would have provided more closure. I don't think this was an ending. This was just another episode. And when you're talking about the final episode, I think you need to go further than that. But that's just my opinion.

How about the fact that it was blacked out for 30 seconds witthout actually ending. You can interpret the ending however you want. In this case, you must make one up b/c the writers didn't do so.

Who the hell has ever heard of an SUV catching on fire because it parked on leaves? Seriously, they spent 5 minutes of the season finale' on that?

Anyways, I thought the scene with him going to see Junior was fantastic. The middle was too choppy and it wasn't the best episode ever or anything, but this season is close to the top of the list for me.

It's too bad too many people are going to let a fantastic season be ruined in their minds by a 3-minute ending. But, whatever.

Upon further review, I think their promo image tells us the end:

buh bye SopranoS.
I'm sure that will be a popular theory but I don't buy it. We are only let with what the show presents to us. The last image of the show was Tony alive. The mystery man was still in the bathroom and at no point was there ever a clear threat on Tony's life. If we're going to project our own beliefs, then I'll just pretend the Al Pacino-esque guy came out and was really hired to kill A.J. on behalf of the millions of "Sopranos" fans who never liked his character and hated the fact he was featured so much in the series finale.

Really? I liked the last half of Season 6 a lot, but no way would I put it even close to 1, 2, or 3. Even 6B on its own wouldn't touch them. But, hey, that's me.

I don't consider 6A and 6B the same season. 6B is easily on par with 1 and 2, imo. 6A is my least favorite.

This is a great posting. Just because the show didn't end with one of the three most obvious scenarios coming to pass doesn't mean that the final episode wasn't great. This wasn't a show that spoonfed its audience, and that wasn't going to change now.

I'm ****officially**** backing off of my "closure" statement. After watching it again, it's clear that it is up to the viewer for interpretation on whether he got popped in the last scene. But I still think it was a great ending b/c of the interpretation it leaves.

I loved the season, but this entire episode was a massive letdown, not just the last 3 minutes.

The series was still running off the steam that seasons 1, 2 and 3 put out. Unfortunately, and I could not admit it, but it ended a few years before the finale.

I think the point of that scene was to focus that even though AJ thinks he has gone all "save the world" on everyone; he's still ole slapdick AJ

Again, I'll say that the issue there is it's a cop-out. It's as if Chase couldn't come up with an actual ending so he decided to play the "Let them decide" game.

I'll admit though. I was on the edge of my seat at the end.

Thought the whole family, minus Meadow because of her poor parking skills, was going down.

Very intense.

What would the motive be for popping Tony at the end anyway? For those that choose to believe that. Just doesn't make sense.

There were parts of tonight I didn't like. Thought it dawdled too much in the middle.

Agreed. The second half was terrific and last week's episode was one of the best in the series' fun. But this episode was Blah and it wasn't just the unsatisfying resolution. Other than a few good moments, I kept looking at the clock and getting frustrated that it was closer and closer to the end and nothing of substance was happening.I honestly could care less about A.J. Couldn't Chase have picked another episode other than the final one to spend on that character? I'd rather watch Syl in a coma than see A.J. trying to figure out which foot to use first as he walks through life.

:goodposting: 6B = definitely one of the top three seasons. I'm starting to think that the second to last episode was the greatest ever.I also think that 5 doesn't get enough love. 4 was legitimately criticized, though I enjoyed it.
