This is odd....

At approximately 6:33 pm, violent protestors on H Street NW began throwing projectiles including bricks, frozen water bottles and caustic liquids. The protestors also climbed onto a historic building at the north end of Lafayette Park that was destroyed by arson days prior. Intelligence had revealed calls for violence against the police, and officers found caches of glass bottles, baseball bats and metal poles hidden along the street.
To curtail the violence that was underway, the USPP, following established policy, issued three warnings over a loudspeaker to alert demonstrators on H Street to evacuate the area. Horse mounted patrol, Civil Disturbance Units and additional personnel were used to clear the area. As many of the protestors became more combative, continued to throw projectiles, and attempted to grab officers’ weapons, officers then employed the use of smoke canisters and pepper balls. No tear gas was used by USPP officers or other assisting law enforcement partners to close the area at Lafayette Park. Subsequently, the fence was installed."
You would think that after using tear gas with so many cameras in the area, there would be a myriad of pictures showing innocent protesters suffering the effects of the gas and trying to get the sting out of their eyes with water or milk.....maybe? Just a few? Maybe...one?

I was watching MSNBC live in real time as this went down in DC.Anyone care to explain...or rebut?
I saw the deployment of tear gas against the crowd, heard the flash bang grenades and then saw mounted police on horses, clearing people out of the area.

You can identify it by sight...but do you know that it tends to linger...for quite a while?
Did you happen to see gas masks on the police officers....or on the President as he walked through Lafayette Square?
Did you see pictures of people being treated for the effects of that tear gas?
Did you see it live on MSNBC?
or....were you simply listening to the narrative provided by MSNBC at the time?

Yes, the smoke. There are pictures on the net along with video. People are coughing and Garrett Haaak of MSNBC is saying (paraphrasing) that "without warning the police fired flash bangs and tear gas, I did not even have enough time to put my tear gas mask on."
If it wasn't tear gas, that is visible on the videos, what was it the police fired on the protesters?

Please show me a video from the scene that explains the smoke, people coughing and pouring milk in their eyes afterwards that shows it wasn't tear gas.
...and I'm sure that I know what you heard.
...but, if the cops weren't wearing masks....and the POTUS walked through it minutes later without a mask..... it wasn't tear gas.

Dude, it was tear gas, experienced by people who knew what tear gas felt and smelled like.
Love tear gas. You wouldnt use it though in an area where those dignitaries walked through just minutes later. That's not how tear gas works. If you could actually do that it wouldnt be very effective.

Probably not. Pepper spray probably. CS gas is brutal. There would be people on all fours coughing with snot running down their face. That said the situation was still abysmal.

Maybe it is because I have a plausible alternative now that I didn't see before.
The FACT that gas masks weren't used during the timeline proves, without a doubt, that tear gas was not used.
