Did I hear a rumor that horns have been booked?
Rumor a few weeks back that Giant Country Horns had been rehearsing with the band.Exile looking more and more likely, unless it's an album that's not listed (possible IMO).Did I hear a rumor that horns have been booked?
Yeah. I think it'd be a hell of a crowd-pleaser. They might even need backup singers (see "Tumbling Dice" coda).Rumor a few weeks back that Giant Country Horns had been rehearsing with the band.Exile looking more and more likely, unless it's an album that's not listed (possible IMO).Did I hear a rumor that horns have been booked?
at the preemptive "calm down, guys"Nigel Tufnel said:I disagree. I think it'd be fun. Loaded with singalongs. I don't think they do either of the prog albums. Kid A would be too tough to pull off live and vocally. Hunky Dory is too down-tempo and piano-driven; if they were going to do Bowie, they would have done Ziggy. I'm not sure if Trey wants to take on Hendrix (calm down, guys, I'm not saying he can't, just that he probably won't), but Electric Ladyland is a possibility. That leaves Purple Rain and Exile.Reaper said:Exile, While a great work, wouldn't be anything special or that different IMO....Nigel Tufnel said:I think they do Exile or Purple Rain. Final answer.

To me this is the only scenario left. I cannot imagine them covering the albums that are left, extremely weak in my opinion. Exile would be too cheap and easy. Not saying it is not a good album just not a mind blower on Halloween. I think the unidentified album will be the one "killing" the others. It will all come together tomorrow night, phish is too smart and whimsical to just play exile on Halloween. Rumor yesterday was Alice Cooper, which would be unique and fit the motif but still cannot see them pulling the trigger on that. I have a feeling we are going to have our minds blown. Thank goodness for Sirius.Rumor a few weeks back that Giant Country Horns had been rehearsing with the band.Exile looking more and more likely, unless it's an album that's not listed (possible IMO).Did I hear a rumor that horns have been booked?

Red herring.setlist at phish.net says trey hinted at a Bowie album tonight. Hunky Dory anyone? Friday, 10/30/2009 Empire Polo Club, Indio, CA Set 1: Party Time, Chalk Dust Torture, The Moma Dance, NICU, Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan, Stash, I Didn't Know, Poor Heart, Cavern, Beauty of a Broken Heart, Ocelot, Time Turns ElasticSet 2: Punch You In the Eye > Down with Disease -> Prince Caspian > Wolfman's Brother > Piper > Joy, David Bowie, Harry Hood > Golgi ApparatusEncore: Character ZeroNotes: This show is part of the three-show Festival 8. During "I Didnt Know", Trey announced that Henrietta would, for the first time in human history, suck and blow at the same time, in the shape of a figure 8. During Bowie, Trey said, "Here's a hint for the Halloween album."
Phish's Costume is EXILE; NYE is in MiamiFor tonight's second set, the band will perform the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street. Playbills are already being distributed on site. The Phish.net song database is being populated with the new songs (Loving Cup and Sweet Virginia have been played previously), and complete song histories will be posted within the next week or so. The same Playbill also confirms that New Year's Eve will be in Miami, FL, as suspected by many since early June.
, SLBD!Tufnel totally on top of it here. Nice.
I am fired up. Woke up buzzed, feel great! Happy Halloween! I need a last minute costume, by the way, please help.Gotta run to the bar for the CSU game now. We're not real good this year, but it's okay.Your friend,Sonny Lubick, SLBD!Tufnel totally on top of it here. Nice.
Listening at home:Sample (good trey jam, not too tentative) ->Divided SkyI'm going to be carting my boy around town tonight. If y'all listen tonight, update the thread with opinions and such when you get a chance. Links to downloads at some point wouldn't be bad, either. Share in the groove, my friends.

jealousi skipped the acoustic set at noon on Sunday, but of the other 7 sets of the weekend, sets 3 on Sat and Sunday are the ones to get. Fluffhead, Ghost, YEM, and Suzy in particular were great Sat nite. And the Tweezer > Maze to open Set 3 on Sunday was like being caught inside on an overhead day - right when you come up for air they're another 8 footer crashing on your dome.what a weekend. phish is hitting on all cylinders right now. those of you with winter tour tix are in for a treat.
couple of reviews I've read this put the -7 > Ghost at the top of 3.0Absolutely hyping the #### out of it - can't wait to DL it from bt.etree. Good for you JTC getting such a monster.Last night's show was a ripper. 1st set a little spotty but when they were on they were on fire. Thought it was the best Melt of '09 but that's probably not saying much. Missed the Walk Away cover walking 10 sections just to get a Brooklyn Lager, that was my worst screw up of the night. Alaska and Party Time are both fun songs.Second set was where it got crazy. Very jammy spacey Seven Below into Ghost, had the crowd in a trance. About 40 minutes on the first two songs of the second set alone. Wolfman's was very funky, very upbeat and that led into Julius which was just awesome. Trey was on fire for Julius, I would dl the show for that alone. They seem to be playing a lot of YEMs this year, too many but the Encore was great, it was top notch.Good scene in Albany, sort of an underrated place, would definately go back and see more shows there.
