Weeks 10 & 12 are gonna be rough, as you chose to cuff your top 2 RB's.  Just my opinion, but in a contest like this, I prefer not to cuff.  The reason is, if my studs go down, my team will likely go down too.  I would rather have spent the $13 it cost for Murray and Ware and upgraded elsewhere.  The one thing I do like about your cuffs though, is that they are 2 of just a few RB cuffs that can produce like the starter if the starter goes down.

Back to 26.

I feel like WR is the most unsettled position for me - I have a feeling there are going to be values that emerge at that position.

Most nervous about QB.  Went with 2 mid-price guys and a low-end guy for now.  Do I change that to a stud?  I dunno.  Feels like a transition year - one of those years where one or two of these young guys is really going to go off.

Switched up my defenses.  I feel like the best artbitrage is always available at that position. The Jags are a wonderful defense.  In the long run I think a basket of 3 defenses will beat 'em at the price.

Especially when your top 2 are bye weeks 10 and 11, where the competition gets tougher.

Are teams are very similar. Other than the top end receivers. I loaded up on mid to low range receivers. Although I have tinkered with Hopkins at the top.

First I’ve seen with two stud WR’s. Like the disparity.

Tried to cut enough guys so I could grab Nuk but put me down to 19 total and that is kinda scary. Have a lot of high ceiling receivers but not a lot of consistency. Go big or go home was never so literal. Keep bouncing back and forth on 3QB vs 2QB (Essentially Luck vs Manning/Maholmes).

4 of last year's top 20 teams had either 18 or 19.  You went with the "go big or go home" strategy with your RB's, so why not dump some of those lower WR's and trade up for Nuke?  You know you want to!

this guy seems like a strange choice.  why him?
As a RB 4/5 in this contest, I'm looking for guys who can pop for a big score any given week.  I also like guys who will catch the ball in their offense.  Those points add up quick when you are getting 1 point per catch.

The RB's in that price range that intrigue me are: Clement $10, Barber $8, and Ekeler $8.  Not sure what to think of S. Michel and Chubb (both $10).  Both Michel and Chubb have higher ceilings, but have many ? for the 2018 season.  Now for the other 3 (Clement, Barber, and Ekeler).

Barber is going to start the year as the most consistent out of the group.  However, with Winston missing three games (defenses focusing more on stopping the run) and the belief that Jones will take more of the load down the stretch, I'm passing on Barber.

Clement and Ekeler have similar roles on their respective teams.  Both can pop at any time with a handful of catches with a TD.  They won't be consistent in their production, but they will have some big games.  So why Ekeler over Clement?  Clement costs $2 more and has some injury concerns right now.  Also, I like watching Ekeler play and I can't get his week 10 game against Jax last year out of my head.  If I can get a couple games like that out of him mixed in with a handful of 8 to 12 point games, I will be happy.

this guy seems like a strange choice.  why him?
I have had many combinations with 2 or 3 of the above players on my team.  Currently have dropped them all to add a top 5 RB instead.  That would leave me with only 4 RBs total....instead of 6 or 7.  Would you rather have Chubb, Michel, Clement, and Ekeler or Gurley?

2 high injury risk TE would scare me

Just how good is DeAndre Hopkins?  Here were his weekly points from last year's subscriber contest...

18.50, 14.30, 14.60, 26.70, 27.20, 9.90, bye week, 36.40, 20.60, 18.10, 17.60, 19.50, 16.00, 37.90, 18.00, 16.50

You can't get much more consistent than that, huh?  What's even more amazing - This was with 3 different QB's.  Tom Savage - 7 games, Deshaun Watson - 6 games, and TJ Yates - 3 games, but you can't tell by looking.  But that's not all, oh no it isn't.

The Texans finished at 4-12, and had a mediocre at best running game.  Nuke had 174 targets - the next highest was 57.  Nuke had 1378 yards - the next highest was 423.  Defenses knew Nuke was gonna get the ball, and they couldn't stop him.  I remember one play last year against SF when they rushed 3, and dropped 8 back to blanket him... and he still made the catch!  OK, I may be going a bit overboard now.

My first pass.  I kind of hate it, but I found it almost impossible to fit in elite level guys this year and have a team that I thought had a chance to compete.  I'll probably change a few things before the season.  I pretty much went exclusively with upside (or at least people that will outperform their cost).  It's definitely a high risk team, but I'm hoping that Olsen gives me reliability at TE and a couple of the WRs break out a bit.

Ouch!  My first reaction after seeing your WR corps was, "Did he only use $200?"

A few thoughts though - you have 2 kickers off the same week, and also 2 D's off the same week.  In this format, I would highly suggest you have no bye week conflicts in these areas.  As for the WR's, you have to start 2 of them each week, minimum.  I think most people will suggest you upgrade in this position.

Ooooh I stand corrected.  This might be a switch back though as I seem to recall a time when RB receptions were 0.5

-QG
I agree....I'm not sure how many years it was at a full point.  I do remember back when I first started doing the contest that is was .5 as well.  That does take some appeal away from the change of pace RB.

I like your team a lot minus Ronald Jones
He's only going to produce bare bones
Try to dig a little deeper
To find that RB who's more than a sleeper

Pretty solid. I would be somewhat concerned about week 9, but that's about the only thing I can find. Surprised this is possible TBH. the only problem is an injury to one of your high priced guys leaves you SOL.

I appreciate the strategy discussion...

The whatabout now, whatabout now, whatabout now, whatabout now, whatabout now stuff is useless.
I find it helpful. It's nice to see what people are finding for values. I've gotten a few ideas for myself. It encourages discussion. Without discussion, after a while you get people suggesting the scoring changed from 1.0 ppr to 0.5, when it's been 0.5

@Dr. DanLike this.  Why?  What is this post for?

Literally a copy and paste of some random lineup.  No value added.

Should be separate thread for this.
Guy wants feedback on his roster. His strategy I don't agree with, so I am not commenting because he likely won't care to listen. Doesn't bother me, I just skip over it.

Agree that I don't really care about anyone else's lineup, but it's an annual tradition at this time of year.  The thread will be a long series of these until a few days after the contest locks, and then regular discussion can resume.

Generally we don't see the roster submissions this early by hey it's a thread about the contest strategy and even if just posting a roster without any notes you can still look at roster makeup. Personally I try to see as many other rosters as possible before final submission.

Call it kind of a mock draft if you will.

I doubt anyone posting a roster in here this early is done, so it's kind of a growing living type of thread.

What this thread needs is a special lock where you can only post a lineup if you compose a limerick about it.

I tried and failed to express this sentiment in proper form, so no lineup from me...

Pretty solid. I would be somewhat concerned about week 9, but that's about the only thing I can find. Surprised this is possible TBH. the only problem is an injury to one of your high priced guys leaves you SOL.
I've been going with a smaller lineup the last few years, hoping for that year of no injuries. Probably will still play with qbs, lower end wrs and team defenses.

My roster is smaller than most
Contrarian thinking, I boast
If this year is like past
I'll be bowing out fast.
Somewhere near week 7, I'm toast.

I like your team alot, but I would switch from Ronald Jones to Lamar Miller.  Same price and no bye week conflicts with your team
