Dynasty. I would be bummed if I picked him up and Brees were the starter in 2021. I could live with sitting on him through 2020, though.

Dropped. They're going to split time most likely and the only reason I have them is so that they can play Week Seven. That's Chicago.

I had considered him earlier in the season, but for his style of play, he's already pretty old.

Right now, people are thinking “impossible!” ... but Taysom Hill is legitimately in play to be the Saints opening-day starting QB in eight months.
For the first time, it has struck me that Brees may no longer control his exit from New Orleans. Not sure if Payton has it in him to initiate the breakup, though.

As much as I like Hill, Teddy seemed to earn a chance to start. Maybe go Teddy/Taysom for 2020.

Many doubted Lamar Jackson too. He might not have a long career, but it will be exciting.

Bridgewater is not under contract with the Saints. It's assumed that the market will outbid the Saints for Bridgewater, with the team still having over $21 million in dead cap to clear for Drew Brees. The team will either clear that dead money in the 2020 league year if Brees retires now, or in 2021 if Brees plays one more year.

Perhaps. Although Taysom is more dynamic.
I like the player, but am skeptical of him becoming a consistent starting QB. He adds to the team, but I don't think he can carry it.
But we've been surprised before.

Yeah I just don’t think he’s a good enough passer to be a franchise QB. He’s surely a great football player and I love watching him but he wouldn’t be any better than Tebow for an extended period of time.

He will be 30 when the season starts and he has 6 total completions in his career. Calling this guy a franchise QB is insane. He would be lucky to be as good as Tebow.

He's worth much more to the saints than anyone else in the league, and this is coming from someone who has him on a 4 year dynasty contract.

He’s worth that money to the Saints but no team is giving up a first to get him from the Saints so it’s a smart offer for them. He can be their weapon plus back up Brees.

Totally agreed. I'm not even sure the saints would give up a first plus the contract to have him though.

I’ve often wondered why teams don’t have players like hill. Imagine the value of a guy that can/will fill
1. special teams
2. backup qb
3. Wr5
4. Rb4
That’s at least 3 spots usually filled by different players. Having extra roster flexibility seems invaluable. Imagine if your kicker could also punt effectively- cap savings and a roster spot (even if you pay that guy more.) It seems like a no brainer- I mean, what are kickers, punters with bad hands? Honestly it seems really stupid to pay 2 guys to do those kicks. Imagine paying 2 cooks at a restaurant- one cooks the steaks, and one cooks the burgers, but there is never more than one steak or one burger being cooked. Maybe burger guy has some more experience making perfect burgers, but the steak guy could probably be nearly as effective.
That said, it’s equally baffling to me when a kicker gets injured and a team brings out ndamakong suh for the extra point....

Atlanta had a guy a few years back that did both and was ok. Sometimes the punter will handle kickoffs where a team has an accurate veteran kicker that doesn’t have a big leg. Generally speaking though it’s two different skill sets.

I don't know if Snork was pulling our legs a bit, but it's definitely two sets of entirely different muscles being used in the kicking motion. One emphasizes the groin and hips, the other the hamstring and quadriceps (and hips - they don't lie).

Payton is trying to bait a sucker with that first round tender.
He doesn't think Hill is his franchise QB. He thinks he is going to get a 1st round from one of the incompetent dumb dumbs who are running about half the franchises.
That said, the hubris involved with Sean Payton could involve thinking he can make Hill into a superstar...

is almost a redundant phrase. Then again, said hubris also allowed him to get out of unreason's own way and attempt that onside kick in the SB, forever preserving his legacy.

Oh no I’m dead serious- look, not everyone can kick accurate fgs, and not everyone can aim a punt and kick it high. I understand having two specialists. I also understand that these guys are pro athletes and I’m really surprised there hasn’t been a fg kicker that hasn’t also been able to punt (and the team lets them.) The difference in net punting yds between the top and bottom is seven yards. That’s not really a great indicator of a good punter, but more often a good punter is measured by accuracy on kicks from midfield. I’m not saying punters are useless, I’m advocating that you could possibly have a better WAR by using that roster spot elsewhere if you’re kicker could punt halfway decent.

I think it would sort of depend what the 52nd man brings to your roster. Is WAR increased more by having another backup or are even five net punting yards on average -- and that can add up quickly -- more desirable? I think the specialists trump the 52nd man when measuring that.
