Nobody here said you can’t watch it.I just enjoy the show so I watch it. Is that allowed?

I agree. I do hope they pick up the main plot soon though. The show is fun. It’s meant to be a western serial with a heavy wink to Star Wars nostalgia. It’s not supposed to be Breaking Bad or The Leftovers. I know we live in this golden age of tv but sometimes a show can just be dumb fun imo.
I do too. I thought it was the weakest episode but didn’t dislike it — except the rookie bounty hunter. He just seemed corny to me.I agree. I do hope they pick up the main plot soon though.
Is random person on internet not giving the show a 10/10 either prohibiting you guys from watching it or liking the show when you do watch it?
UghIt's better than the last star wars movie. I'll take it.
From what I hear, it's better than the upcoming star wars movie also. Standards have plunged
I haven’t seen one review of the new movie yet. No idea what he’s referring to.
After years in the walking dead thread where these kinds of posts popped up semiregularly, I get the sense it's less about a criticism or two than it is about an avalanche of criticism...where posters seem to enjoy hate watching the show just to come into the thread and slam it.Is random person on internet not giving the show a 10/10 either prohibiting you guys from watching it or liking the show when you do watch it?![]()
Get the hell out of here, sir! That not why we are here!!!!!!1!!1!!!I just enjoy the show so I watch it. Is that allowed?
I, for one, welcome the criticism. First off, I didn't write this show, so I don't take offense to any of the criticism. Secondly, I don't need others to enjoy something for me to enjoy it.After years in the walking dead thread where these kinds of posts popped up semiregularly, I get the sense it's less about a criticism or two than it is about an avalanche of criticism...where posters seem to enjoy hate watching the show just to come into the thread and slam it.
That the show deserves the slamming becomes irrelevent- it's more about the tone, number and disregard for the parts that still work. I think. I doubt they're expecting people to not notice all the stuff that sucks...I guess just have some balance when talking about it. I like the universe, so I've still hung on for that and the short length in spite of everything that doesn't work. If I keep watching, I'll work harder to to try find something positive to say along with anything that bothers me (I think I've mentioned the terribly done juvenile writing enough)... I'm sure the "it's not supposed to be good, just enjoy it for what it is" people will live.
Plenty of verified leaks. Won't spoil it for you.I haven’t seen one review of the new movie yet. No idea what he’s referring to.
I just find it a little amusing that some of the posters that are getting the crankiest about people focusing on the negative of the show are also focusing on the few negative things that a person in here have said about the show, ignoring any positive or ignoring other shows that poster loves.El Floppo said:After years in the walking dead thread where these kinds of posts popped up semiregularly, I get the sense it's less about a criticism or two than it is about an avalanche of criticism...where posters seem to enjoy hate watching the show just to come into the thread and slam it.

I don't think they are unique in this. I guess maybe not too many TV shows have to try, but I think a lot of properties successfully straddle that line. I think Marvel does it, and but maybe leans slightly more on the adult side. Pixar does it, but leans more to the kid side. For money sake, it feels like most properties want to be in that PG to PG-13 range. All the Star Wars movies and shows have no problem operating within these parameters. I don't think that is the criticism that I see floating around in here about the show.TheIronSheik said:I don't think the writing is that bad. No other show has to do that.
I recognized the voice but could not figure out who it was the way they had her made up. Looked like Rhea Pearlman.Has no one mentioned Amy Sedaris yet in episode 5? She’s awesome.
I would say I don't feel like they are spinning their wheels. I like the pace.I am just surprised with only 8 episodes that it feels like they are spinning their wheels with the story and going back to the some version of ship breaks/help random people/leave behind the baby already.
Yes, to the bolded. But I was saying all three of those things are what makes it unique.I don't think they are unique in this. That's where we disagree, GB. I love the mystery of the Mandalorian and WTF the yodaling are and who are after them. Seems like they are dragging that a ton in lieu of these "mission of the week" type episodes and just making sure we are hitting on all the familiar beats of Jawas, desert planets, etc. . JMO though. I get filler episodes like the last two for a network show that has to fill 20+ hours of content, just a little surprised that we are doing it right away for a show that only has 4-5 hours to fill.I would say I don't feel like they are spinning their wheels. I like the pace.
Yup. And that's totally cool, GB. I accept that it might not be good to everyone. But I'm definitely liking it and the pace so far. That's where we disagree, GB. Like you keep pointing out - this is S1 and let's see where this goes, especially knowing that S2 is going.
I don't like when people don't watch the show but come into a thread and talk bad about it. That's when it gets annoying to me. But I have no problem with people complaining. My wife says it's my greatest trait.I don't mind it if people find fault with the show. What I have a problem with is when people only find fault in the show. At that point, you have to ask yourself, why continue to watch? Because continuing to watch says a lot about someone.
HA! That might even be worse than the hate watchers.I don't like when people don't watch the show but come into a thread and talk bad about it. That's when it gets annoying to me. But I have no problem with people complaining. My wife says it's my greatest trait.
I had to look it up for that same reason.I recognized the voice but could not figure out who it was the way they had her made up. Looked like Rhea Pearlman.![]()
I have no problem with criticism either as a general matter. But being among the most frequent posters in a thread about a show you don’t like isn’t fantastic.I don't like when people don't watch the show but come into a thread and talk bad about it. FFA, same as day 1I get that but would they have as many posts if they were actually posting new observations about the show, instead of replying to accusations that they are posting more than they should be or demanding that they defend what they have already defended? I mean, if we drew a reply tree for these posters, how many new topics would there be really? I'm guessing no more than one new post per episode, with a lot of replies to oddly defensive fanboys filling the rest of their post content. Which is somewhat ironic, perhaps.I have no problem with criticism either as a general matter. But being among the most frequent posters in a thread about a show you don’t like isn’t fantastic.
Sabine Wren?So bets on the caped mystery person checking out the dead body at the end. Boba Fett, Imperial Governor Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), or someone different?

She's not a huge name actor, but I feel like it would be weird to only have her on one episode. Of course, Nick Nolte. Is Ming Na Wen a goner, or does Gus save her?
You'd do better kicking off the Crown imo.Considering starting this, wife likes GOT stuff at least. Otherwise gonna be hard to squeeze this in. Wives like this or nah?
My wife likes this solely due to Baby Yoda. She's told me if they kill it off, she's done.Considering starting this, wife likes GOT stuff at least. Otherwise gonna be hard to squeeze this in. Wives like this or nah?
by the way, I want to give a shout out to Ming Na.Is Ming Na Wen a goner, or does Gus save her?
Why do you think there is a "main plot"? Why do people think these are "filler" episodes?I agree. I do hope they pick up the main plot soon though.
I agree 100%. Not sure why people think this is a Battlestar Galactica reboot. The main plot is the Mandalorian kicks ### (is half man half Delorean), Mandalore has some cool back story stuff that will spool out, bounty hunters and the guild are a thing (I'm sure we'll learn more as we go but don't expect this to be some huge a-hah), whatever's left of the Empire will eventually morph into the Third Order (unfortunately, but it seems we have to live with that drivel so whatever), and there's a freaking baby Yoda who's first word will come after his second. Why do you think there is a "main plot"? Why do people think these are "filler" episodes?
It seems like they have created the A-Team in outer space. A lot of overthinking happening here.
Interesting theory. I think we're conditioned lately that all shows have some form of plot and based on Filonis previous work with TCW and Rebels, you'd think we would get to that. You could be right though. Why do you think there is a "main plot"? Why do people think these are "filler" episodes?

If you're stupid and like Star Wars, I highly recommend it.Considering starting this, wife likes GOT stuff at least. Otherwise gonna be hard to squeeze this in. Wives like this or nah?

Wait, so they are putting effort into figuring out the overarching story after they started filming S2?For those wondering about a long term plot, here is what Favreau said about it this week:
=======================
"I’m putting a lot of effort working with Dave Filoni to figure out what the overarching story is and the story line for all these characters and what the world is like. We want to make sure that we have a road map, because we’re also a puzzle piece that fits into a larger Star Wars universe that has a lot of other movies and a lot of other projects, and we want to make sure we’re consistent with them."
"We have a good 25-year patch of road [in the Star Wars canon] that nobody is exploring right now, and it’s the most interesting time for me as a storyteller to explore — the time after the fall of the empire and before the resurgence of the darker forces."
Why do you think there is a "main plot"? Why do people think these are "filler" episodes?

It’s a big ask I knowI think we're conditioned lately that all shows have some form of plot
Besides the time he got his ### handed to him by some Jawas ?I agree 100%. Not sure why people think this is a Battlestar Galactica reboot. Did I mention every week we get to watch the Mandalorian kick ### in an old Western style plot in the exceptionally well represented Star Wars universe? PLUS we get a cute baby Yoda?
I mean, I don't know what else these other people are expecting but this is quite enough to scratch my quite substantial Star Wars itch.
This is a huge Dad Joke. My parents came up for Thanksgiving and at age 76, pops rattled this one off when he saw the title.I agree 100%.
