So Im thinking this body that is found is the fat ******* from the NY crew that Silvio and the other guy wacked last year. Plays into how last week ended with Phil looking to change things.
definite possibility, but I think it'll end up being somebody we've never heard of that they just reference in a conversation or something.

Solid episode. Great tension on that boat. Didnt think anything bad was going to happen but still great drama trying to figure out whats going on in Tony's head.

:lmao: at Paulie cracking up at Three's Company

I'm sure that I'm not the only one who kept thinking of the VTech shooter with that kid in the mental hospital

yup. Me and my wife both thought it. I wouldn't doubt some writers bringing that up in newspapers tomorrow.

Is it possible that the series will end without tying anything up, and just continue on the 'day in the life' track it's on? It's almost too far gone to give satisfactory treatment of all these plot points.

For the people who are inevitably going to show up in here and say what a crappy episode this was...

There are maybe a handful of shows ever that could have pulled off the tension that the Sopranos did with Tony and Paulie on that boat. Again, I think Chase is going out of his way to remind us that Tony is a monster underneath the exterior that we've come to like. He never forgets anything. Great scene.

The chick Tony nailed at the hotel

I hope this episode is the last one they waste on Junior's character. It's going nowhere. Who cares how it got there. Maybe they wrote themselves into a corner having him shoot Tony. Regardless, the time they spend on him now is boring.

I liked seeing Phil take control again. It would be interesting to think that he had this in mind all along (to let his rivals take each other out), but I think not. He is an opportunist. I think he really did want to let someone else take over. But then when Doc not only took out his protege, but he eats off his plate and starts acting condescending toward him...well, it wasn't hard to see it coming. And now with Butch as his consigliere (I'm guessing), and Little Carmine not putting up any fight, his power is absolutely unchallenged.

When Paulie took his shoes out of the closet, the first thing I thought of was Johnny Sac's deathbed scene. I was wondering if it was some sort of foreshadowing.

I agree that it was a slower episode than the last two were. It did accomplish two big things, though. It put Phil firmly back in charge in New York for the remainder of the season, and IMO it probably told us that Paulie is safe for the rest of the series- at least from Tony.

Compared to last year, The Sopranos is kickin' some serious tail.

Then again, that's like being the tallest midget.

I was tired of having that ghaey storyline shoved down my throat.

I thought there was too much to wade through to get to that. IMO there was a 1% chance Paulie got whacked for that so I was rolling my eyes at the scene in the end.

Again, another good point, but there was 3 min focused on this? Pretty weak IMO.

btw, loved the godfather nod at the end with june in the chair.

eta: also the throwback to junior singing at the end of season 3 -- with the kid tossing the paper balls.

a little tension? that's like saying tony's a little fat. the whole episode, and this season has revolved around tony losing faith in his crew and seeing things he probably shouldn't be seeing. he's slipping as a leader, and he's never done that -- he's lost trust in his guys and that's all leading down the road to where this thing ends.

can't believe anybody would take so little out of that episode.

I missed the last two minutes....my gf was tivoing something else, and I couldn't turn the thing off in time.

Did Paulie get wacked at the end.....what happened?

Did you think Paulie would get whacked for maybe telling Sack about the Ginny joke? I didn't. As far as your point about Tony losing faith in his crew, I totally agree. However, to go back to this joke as a tension builder was pretty weak.

Tony checked in to the hotel using "Mr Spears."Anyone care to guess when he last used that pseudonym?
Although I can't say for 100% sure, I'm pretty sure it was during that comatose Kevin Finnerty stuff.

That's not what it was about. Tony knows it was him. Tony was testing whether Paulie would be a rat or not once put under pressure.

I don't believe he used another name other than Kevin Finnerty during S6, part 1.He used "Mr. Spears" when Melfi would not see him anymore after she had to go on the lamb, and he consulted that fruity male doctor who said he's seen Analyze This and he wasn't taking on any new patients.

I absolutely think Tony was thisclose to killing him on the boat. You could see the look of anguish on his face, trying to get the courage/balls to do the deed. It wasn't JUST for the Ginny comment. The whole episode was a demonstration of how Paulie can't keep his mouth shut. That's bad for business, bad for staying out of jail, and bad for trying to keep a happy home.

I am going to go back and watch those coma episodes. I could have sworn that he was using the name Spears while he was in the hotel and people were insisting that he was Finnerty. But like most os us, I only watched those episodes once or twice at the most.

I'd rather watch 20 full episodes featuring Junior than half of one that focuses on Janice.Junior owns.

I understand that, but to me there just never was a greater chance that he would get it then that he wouldn't. It just seemed like an overblown "Is he going to do it?!?!?!?" scene.

Nearly everything we've seen so far this season has been about Tony's family coming apart at the seams. The fight with Bobby; his issues with Chris and his lack of trust in Paulie. I thought this was a strong episode which furthered that theme even more deeply.

I think it was more about Tony seeing Paulie as a washed-up has-been, and Tony subconsciously doesn't want to end up like that himself. And Paulie was getting on his last nerve. But I would have been PISSED if he'd killed Paulie. I just don't see enough logic and support for it.

Episode 2 of season 6.1.

Maybe so, but at this point, that is a completely independent storyline that will have no impact on how the series wraps up. So, I just don't care about Junior anymore. I took the whole thing as just another example of how a guy like Tony can end up. Same as Paulie being a has-been telling old war stories. Same as Johnny Sack dying in the prison medical ward. etc.

What's funny is, I thought Paulie was a little over the top with the "heh-heh-heh" laughs tonight. He did it after EVERY statement on the boat, so much so that I started to imitate him with the g/f sitting next to me. Just then, Tony asks him if he's ever been checked for Tourette's. :wall: :lmao: :lmao:

The Chinese kid who attacked Junior... I KNOW I've seen him in a movie somewhere.

Any help???

ETA: Nevermind. I remember him from "Oz". He was one of the Chinese refugees who entered the prison, and Morales took him out.

I agree with Gator here. Tony seems to either kill someone when it makes sense logically or when he snaps ala Ralphie. This scenario was neither. I think Tony recognized his paranoia for what it was. While I was tense and unsure, I just didn't believe it was going to happen. Then again, I didn't want to believe that it'd happen.

I wondered if Tony was really down all that money at betting or if he just needed some cash in general. Seems like there's been references to business not being so good lately.

I don't disagree. But I still just don't see enough motive. Paulie has always been Paulie. Tony knows that. So why now is it a problem? Just more paranoia.
