I hate PKs, but that was fantastic. And phenomenal game... even if Chelsea should be kicking themselves with some of those misses.

Love the top bins and side nettings.  Have some, and if I miss I'll eat it.  But you're not saving my shot.

Kelleher with some stones for a young GK too.

When the Pool keeper was lining up his PK, my wife asked me last time they practiced that. I said not very often but your mindset has to be "just get it on goal"

all the GKs I played with were nails taking PKs... they probably practiced taking them (practicing defending them with the other GK) more than any of the field players.

That really had it all.  Both teams with 4 or 5 huge chances.  Couple of great saves by both GKs and shocking misses by some usually pretty clinical forwards....  Both put the ball in the net only to have it ruled offside(Chelsea twice and Lukaku's was on...they got ####ed on that).  21 penalties made and the GK misses the 22nd.  Unreal football for the neutrals.  Chelsea fans will feel unjustly done and I did think they were the better side today, but Liverpool played great too.  I wish we had a game like this every weekend.

it was very entertaining especially compared to the preceding Wolves-Hammers match that was dreadful (and scoreless for 70ish minutes).

Apparently you can score with your elbow now

That line isn't even close to his armpit and it's still 50/50 on whether he's off.  Offsides rules were changed to benefit the attacker in calls too close to call, but they misdrew the line to make it close in the first place AND didn't give him the benefit of the doubt?  This was the worst of what was some pretty sketchy reffing today.

Terrible.

And wait...now offsides is from the defender's foot, but the attacker's furthest outstretched body part? No dropping a line from the defenders hand too?

Barca have been looking good (Dest at LB).

but it's been a weird opening 20mins for them- pretty direct down the wings and hitting lots of hopeful crosses in. I'm used to seeing them passing their way into the box- not crossing.

I don't know why they don't just change it to feet. Much easier to draw the line, much more clear than trying to figure out other body parts, and oh, it just makes more sense.

Not sure what happened with Aubameyang at Arsenal, but he has been a great addition to Barcelona so far.
and lol... we'll just trot out a couple subs- Dembele and Memphis.

the MF with Pedri is really starting to gel- love how quickly they're moving the ball the last few games. Adama and Auba have been great stretching the field and giving the team a different look up front. Now add Dembele, Memphis and eventually Fati back into the mix... whoa.

Chachi with a late winner just now vs NYC... nicely taken, but a NYC player on the ball in slow-mo gives the ball away at the top of their own box leading to the goal.

This match totally slipped my mind and gutted I missed it.  From the highlights, it looked like a classic.   I feel for Chelsea's keeper.  He didn't have a chance with that kick.

Tried not to comment on it, but even after a couple days -- damn.  That no-PK VAR review on City's handball is hard to swallow.

The ball is coming to the City player slowly, in space, after bouncing, his arm is well out from his body, and he plays it at the elbow.  There's really no argument.  Likely gifted City 2 points given the game state.

Everton was ruled offside prior to the handball.  It wasn't called on the field, but when VAR looked at it, they saw the offside.  It makes the handball call irrelevant.  At least that's what I think I heard after the fact.  If not for that, it's a clear handball and I think would have had to be called.

Lampard says he was told there was no offside.

this backup Luton GK (who had to sub in for an injured starter early in the game)- getting his first 1st team minutes... ever? and is standing on his head the last 10 minutes. 3 absolutely exceptional saves to keep this tied.

I want CP to move forward for a chance at hardware, but I love these kind of stories and am rooting for this kid hard.

Here we go! 2-1 to the Townies!
