Down 4-1, Kudus has a few kicks at Van De Van on the ground, then shoves two guys and gets a yellow. Gets the red on VAR, but Andy Townsend's comments are the best. We need Scottish color commentators for every sports event that exists.

EDIT: It was actually Ally McCoist, on the TNT feed. Hilarious.

Saliba should be off.

ETA: and there it is. The Bournemouth player was in. The announcers seem to be really confused about whether "obvious" attaches to "goal" or to " opportunity".

Kluivert literally never took his eyes off the GK as he was running up and hitting his PK. Seems like a lot could go wrong, but he struck it clean the other way once he saw where Raya was going. Never looked back at the ball.

Ivan Toney has been extremely successful with the no-look penalty approach and I expect there are a few others. Always very impressive to see it in action.

Ok, so they've showed the whole thing again and... Silva's not offside when he's obstructing the keeper. (Can't be offside on a corner.)

Crow. Eaten.

Liverpool's next 10 opponents, current league standings (all comps): v6, @2, @3, @5, v5, v4, v4, @20, v2, v2

I'd think that's pretty much unprecedented?

With the amount of European games they play nowadays, it literally only takes a badly timed Cup draw and moderate awkward league scheduling for this sort of thing to happen. It's not like Leeds who will be only 10 games into the league and will have played all the top 7 already come midweek

From the replays I saw, he could have seen 3 red cards on that one sequence of events. How he came away with only a yellow before VAR intervened was amazing.
Will be interesting to see if they review for further action later.

Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Villa are 1-2-3-4 at the top of the EPL right now and have combined to go 10W-2D-0L, +24GF, -1GA in 12 UCL games to this point.

Also, I don't care who you play, winning 11 of 12 is a good run and 5 goals against in 12 matches is fantastic. v Chelsea, @United, @Milan, @Leipzig are legit wins as well.

Really curious to see how they look against the true elites -- Arsenal, City, Madrid, Barca, Bayern, etc. Can the midfield hold up?

David with 2 more goals... I keep seeing his name attached to all the big teams for transfer gossip, including Barca.

And I'd love to see Haalands "wonder" goal. Was it Zlat-esque?

I know it's not right, but I genuinely enjoy seeing Man United and BM take beatings. Like the Yankees or Cowboys.
Well I can agree on the Yankees and Cowboys side...

Get ready for today's Jose Derby.

Fenerbahçe, with Jose, Fred, Amrabat vs United who seems to be starting Mazraoui, a right back, at the 10 and Lindelof at cb with Martinez at lb. This should be fun.

Twente down to 10 men early. Keeper missed the ball got player on the breakaway.

Real Betis with the golaza
Rangers goal.

A lot going on early today. Don't have Paramount+ but do have CBS golaza show.

Dalot doesn't close people down and lets them cross for goals.

Did Jose get sent to the stands?

I don't have a good view on my phone, should that have been a PK?
Looks like he may have clipped his toe, but not enough for that reaction.

Does Europa use the same dumb new league format as the CL or do they play in Manchester?
looks to be the same format (single table, 36 teams)
yup.

United sits 21st with 3 points from 3 games.

Top 8 go through
Next 16 spots play a home and home (I think) to advance and play vs the top 8.
Bottom 8 are out, no drop down to Conference League, just back to concentrating on their league.

Fulham-Everton has been quite entertaining so far despite the 0-0 scoreline, so much back and forth, each team taking turns on the front foot. Traore has been quite the problem for Everton so far.

Didn't notice that the FA Trophy brought together two of the internet's favourite clubs in Dulwich Hamlet and Hashtag United. Hashtag won on pens.

Three points for us today in the first home game after Baldock's passing. Never really in doubt. What did irk me is that the scoreboard prompt for a minutes applause was awfully mistimed - intended for the second minute, I'm sure if there was something planned for the first minute, the operator would be "kick off, turn it on". I'm sure if there were different things planned for the first and second minutes, they would be "kick off, turn it on, switch things after a minute". Yet for something just in the second minute, they waited until the clock showed 02:00 because thick as mince?

Having watched Real for 20 years, the odds they get thru the next 10 minutes without a red card have to be low.

That's where they really miss Sergio Ramos and Pepe.

Overall, what a second half and what a week for Barcelona. I would have been ecstatic with a narrow win over Bayern and a draw at the Bernabeu, but to score 4 in each match and utterly humble Real Madrid? Wow. Fantastic.

That classico was so bizarre.

First half I felt like I was literally watching boys v men, and it was just matter of time before RM put in 2 or 5. But mbappe and his offsides and vini and his poor decision making kept it a draw.

No idea what happened in the 2nd half. Feel like RMs most dangerous shoreline is 0-2... But they just fell apart as opposed to their usual last 20 minutes fight back. Full credit to Barca... Played really well the 2nd half especially, and I would say lethal with their finishing outside of Lews big misses.
