1 Mike Williams, WR SEA (1 Viewer)

The day I went to watch practice last week Williams was the star of the WRs. He made two leaping grabs down the sideline. What he lacks in quickness and he certainly has in size and ball skills. Time will tell if his ten cent head will get in the way of his million dollar size and athleticism.

I drafted him in the last round of a draft yesterday. He is giving me a story to watch and root for this year. A guy who can admit where he went wrong and then realize he is on his last shot. He has nothing to lose, everything to gain. Interesting!!!

It was in no way a shot at the 'hawks. Sorry you feel persecuted. The SB XL thread must get yer bloood boiling.
I don't feel persecuted at all. Just an observation that you are going out of your way to be a ####. I haven't posted in the SB XL thread because its a waste of time and pointless. Good luck in your endeavors to provoke someone into an overly emotional response. The Seattle skill positions are bottom of the barrel when compared to rest of the NFL. Mike Williams has something that no one else on the roster has. The ability to go over the top of a DB and make a play. That doesn't mean anyone is counting on him to produce big numbers. Just an observation. If he surprises and posts some decent stats, great. If not, that's okay too.

If I hadn't already rostered him on my deep dynasty teams I'd tell you to be quiet. Cedric Benson and Antonio Bryant have paid off dividends for me in the past. I see no reason why not to take a chance in deep leagues. Yes he is a bust but you don't get picked 10th overall for nothing. Perhaps he'll make something of himself even if it is a decent no.2 and good red zone target.

Edit to add: While it can be difficult to sort through the fluff the thing that has sold me about buying Williams (well two things): Lendale White and Reggie Williams. If this story was a joke Williams would have been cut a long time ago that I am sure of. David Boston is the fun one to point to but there are plenty of anti David Bostons (already mentioned Bryant and Benson) once upon a time ago people hated Thomas Jones for his lack of success in Arizona. Pointing and laughing is the easy way out. Sure I would rather roster a lot of the rookie class in my deep dynasties over Williams but that isn't realistic. He is worth a shot in my book.

:lmao: I've been impressed that Carroll has cut loose guys quickly when he didn't think they could help the team. Not only that, but he's shown no loyalty to his USC guys. DE Lawrence Jackson has been demoted and they never seriously considered S Taylor Mays.

Yeah, Carroll is different in his 2nd stint as NFL head coach. Oddly enough, he's not so unlike Mike getting another chance and all. Yours+Bojang's points are on the money about loyalty getting a player a shot and nothing more. I don't think in his Pats days he would have cut Lendale so quickly. While I liked reading about them then, for some reason those family gathering and bowling trips and such have become such a negative all the years since he was there. I think it might be possible for a special human being that is an incredible manager of egos to pull of the nice guy/best friend image and still be a top coach, but that guy would be oh so special. The long interview where Carroll talked about Dungy a while back, that's where I first thought it might have clicked for him. Dungy's a sweetheart but he was tough and moral with standards and...well Carroll seems different this time-almost more mature or wiser

Yes, making a joke of this guy is the easy way out. He is a long shot - admitted.

1 Mike Williams, WR

Team: SEA | Height/Weight: 6-5/235 | Born: 01/04/1984, Tampa, FL, USA | Eligible at: FLEX,RB-WR-TE,WR | College: Southern California | Exp: 4yrs

Mike Williams has all the physical tools and is only 26 years old. He was missing the attitude and commitment in his first few years. Now that he has the focus and energy, will he be given the opportunity?

When drafting late round "flyers" you can pick a guy who is guaranteed to be a #3 WR with 40 catches and 600 yards, or you can shoot for the stars. Winning strategies often find late round value, and this guy has a chance.

I've been hearing that not only is the team expecting him to make the team, but to challenge for a starting spot.

Now, when he's going against guys like Deion Branch, Deon Butler, and rookie Golden Tate, that might not seem like such an accomplishment but he should be taken seriously.

No one loved Mike Williams coming out of USC more than me. I thought he was going to be a transcendent talent. Not so much.

But more than his weight and work ethic, hasn't Williams's problem in the NFL been more about an inability to get off a jam at the line? Easy to shine in camp when you're not getting hit at the line. I think the real test will be seeing if he can perform in the preseason with guys in his face and disrupting him. Because if he still takes 2 seconds to get into his route vs. NFL corners, it's hello Canada.

This post makes no sense at all.

It looks like BMW caught a 51 yd TD pass last night. Did anyone see the play? how did he look?
Go to nfl.com videos.
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-cant-miss-pl...es-TD-in-returnThanks for the heads up! Impressive, I don't think BMW has ever looked that explosive in his entire time in the NFL.
Not really all THAT impressive, though the move after the catch was decent. He was barely touched.Physically... he looks decent at the current weight, though.

Mike Williams is still only 26 years of age. The Hawks have Housh and a couple of midgets for WRs, there will be a spot for a big WR like Williams.

in fairness that was some of the worst defense i have ever seen.
was it terrible? sure, but he made them pay for it. Which is exactly what he should have done.

Very interesting development tonight. BMW started the game as the WR3 for Seattle tonight ahead of Golden Tate and thus far has put up 4 catches for 44 yards with the first team offence.

I keep thinking my eyes are playing tricks on me, but MWilliams actually looks like an NFL receiver.
Greg Cosell, who basically locks himself in a room and watches coaches tape for a living, disagrees. The 51-yard TD catch last week looked nice, but when he broke it down he saw it was zero coverage (corner had no deep help), and when one tackle was missed there was nothing but grass between MW and the end zone. Not his fault the tackle was missed, granted. But Cosell also said it was painfully obvious watching the tape that Williams takes about six days to get in and out of his breaks, which will be a killer when he's facing capable defensive backs.Just to balance out the hype a bit....

He really did look great tonight. Hasselbeck also seemed to look for him quite a bit and he had a couple of nice grabs, especially that one where he was falling and hand to get his arms under the ball near the sideline. That's two straight impressive performances from BMW who seems to be continuing his impressive off-season. It's tough to project how the Seattle WR corps will shake out this year, with Tate, Williams and Deon Butler all getting varying amounts of praise, it's hard to know which one to grab as the best sleeper. Deion Branch is really holding these young guys back at this point if you ask me.

Raider, I didnt get to see the TD from last week yet, but tonight he looked really good. I was left wanting to see him play some more.
