Hmm never knew Yuengling was a national like. One of my gotos since I was 18.

Not sure how far the distribution is now (I'd assume at least to the Mississippi), but folks in NC/VA and on the innerwebs seem to really like it.

I remember a college buddy from Pottsville always bringing a few cases back with him because it wasn't available in NC yet. It seems have exploded since then.

It's not a terrible list. I agree completely with shiner bock, blue moon, anchor steam, and a few others including my childhood yuengling choice (although I find it hard to overrate it given how cheap it is).

That said I don't understand how PBR doesn't make this list.

Yuengling's perfect for what it is, a nice cheap average beer. Their Summer Wheat has been my go-to backyard beer this summer.

Solid list overall.

I'm a Yuengling fan and I love the summer wheat, too.Yuengling and Anchor Steam are the only 2 beers on the list I'd pay money for. Most of the rest I'd drink if free, and a few I'd prefer water.

Stella Artois: This is clearly just Belgium ####### with us. Stella Artois has to be the very worst beer they make.

I drink a lot of Stella. I like a pale lager, especially when I wasnt something light and easy to drink. Stella is on tap at a lot of places. I like it.

The logic seems to be, because Belgium produces a lot of fantastic beers, you can't possibly enjoy this one.

As stated in the lead in, the logic isn't that this is a "####ty beers" list, but an "overrated beers" list.

Stella is Belgian miller lite, yet I can't tell you how many dickmittens I see ordering it like they've just called down the nectar of the gods from the heavens.... As it's positioned in American marketing. Truth of the matter is they fight a rep as a soccer hooligan brew of choice overseas thanks to its high alcohol content / cheap price.

It's not a crap beer... But it is indeed very very overrated stateside.

Hit Memphis a couple years ago... Went on a brief kick due to reputation and interesting flavor for a MCD (multiple cold and domestic) offerin but got burned out on it pretty quick.

1. Firestone Walker Union Jack; Paso Robles, CA; 7.5 percent ABV

Not sure if it is #1 but this is an outstanding IPA.

If you like this stuff try their wookie jack.

Also, makes me a sad panda that two hearted didn't make the list.

I'll drink a Stella or Red Stripe. Killians was my first new beer many years ago so I'll always have a soft spot for it. Had Shiner Bock last year for the first time and it wasn't bad. Overall a good list, as icon points out not ####ty beers but overrated beers.

Great list as those are all crap. I just got back from OBF and even on an off year from them they still were able to produce at least 10 better beers.

Heady Topper is excellent but it does cost $75 a case and can only be bought in about 10 stores in Vermont. It is also considered the best beer in America so you would only have to like one beer more to consider it overrated. That said, I would be willing to bet whoever wrote the article has never drank it.

Never had it, probably never will and that's fine. I think it is the highest rated beer at the site which will remain unnamed and is #2 at untapped. So it's definitely in the discussion for best in America.

While $75 is pricey I'm sure it's not cheap to make. Same price range for something like Hopslam, which last time I bought it a couple of years ago was over $20/6pack. As far as availability it makes sense that if demand outpaces supply that they keep it local.

Killian's Red: Another ####ty Coors joint. Drink Smithwick's or, better yet, O'Hara's Red

Killian's is cheap. One of the best cheap beers IMO.

Your local brewery's flagship: In most cases, the beer that put a brewery on the map way back when—even if way back when was two years ago—has since been surpassed in-house.

our two local go-to breweries both have better beers recently "created" than their most popular brew. I can only assume this is true for most.

Miller High Life: Way too many otherwise tasteful people regard this as the cream of the ####-brew crop. It's not. High Life is markedly inferior to Pabst Blue Ribbon and Schlitz.

I was surprised they went this way as PBR is much more popular in the places I've lived the last decade. It's my truly cheap go-to, ($8 for an 18 pack two weeks ago)

Yeah, I don't get the PBR hate. Well, I guess I do. It does have a bit more flavor than most of the macros, so if you don't like that specific flavor it wont' work.

Damn prices keep going up though. A case has started going for almost $16 around here these days, about a buck cheaper than Bud/Coors.

Pretty good list except for Yuengling and Bass. Tough to beat Yuengling for the money.

Killians Red may be over-rated but it cannot be compared to Smithwicks. There is a big price difference between the two.

There was a Pat's Blue Ribbon BBQ place we liked in Manhattan, KS about 14 years ago. I must have been too drunk as I always thought it was Pabst Blue Ribbon. Which fueled my favoring PBR among the cheap beers. It's been a fave ever since. My Dad used to drink High Life, which I can't stand.
