2007 WR Class (1 Viewer)

Jeff Samardzija (JR) from Notre Dame and Marcus Monk (JR) from Arkansas are two more to keep an eye on. They have a good combination of size, hands, and speed.

Jarrett is probably the best of the bunch; he's the most complete in terms of athletic ability and - by the way - great size (6'5"). Johnson is a big target but he appears a bit slow to me (when trying to see him in the NFL).

Everyone knows about Ginn and I think he could be a top three pick if he proves his sophomore year was a slump and goes 65/1100/10 with another handful of PR TDs.

Rice and Monk I don't know much about. Samardzija, IMHO, is more a product of the Weis system than anything else.

In term of having size and speed Rice is an excellent combination. Of course, he a spurrier WR so that will scare off some fantasy players (NFL not so much).

With except of Jeff S. all of the guys listed are JR or eligible soph so if they have bad years or get injuries there is chance that the player does not come out. It does overall look like a better for WR than 2006 though.

Jason Hill Washington State should also be on your radar.

Contrary to some of the posts here so far, I was under the impression from draftnicks that Johnson is head and shoulders above the rest, that Ginn really wasn't that great of a prospect (and certainly not a top 3 overall prospect) and Rice was the slow one (not Johnson).

I would say that especially with most of these guys being underclassmen that they have not been analyzed to death yet and declaring Calvin Johnson (who I like a ton) head and shoulders of Jarrett or Rice is pre-mature. remember last year this time draftnics were declaring that OT was going to dominate the 1st round of the draft and only Ferguson went there at the end of the day. As for speed, i really don't care that much about fourty times and who is/was a track star, but how fast they play on the field. Besides the times you will get on these guys now are either estimates or from high school which are usually extreme exaggerations.

The five or six guys to watch this season are listed here and also there normally is a WR or two who seems to come out nowhere to become 1st or high 2nd round picks that fantasy players need to concern themselves with.

It should be a real nice class if all the Juniors come out. My homer pick is Steve Breaston. He's a former QB who does a lot in the return game. Hopefully he develops even more as a WR this season.

It will be interesting to see how much he can polish his game this season. He definitely showed some flashes last season.

No, this is an incorrect statement. Ginn is the next Reggie Bush or Mike Vick if you will. The only thing holding him back is the fact that he is extremly raw in the position that he plays. If he has developed properly and impacts this season he will most definitly be in talks for the top tier of the draft and WR's. His field vision is absolutly incredible and he is a special player to watch and what I've said that perhaps separates him is that he can change the tide of a game with one touch. I don't have a lot of exposure to the other guys so I can't say too much about them.

Surely... Breaston couldn't hold David Terrell's jock let alone any of these big cats. :football:

Jeff is a senior....As for all these top WR's as in Calvin, Dwayne, Sidney, Samardzija, Monk, and Breaston, none of them (barring a miracle) will run faster than a 4.5 forty. Ted Ginn is an amazing home run threat with great speed. He isn't very polished though and needs to learn how to run his routes better, improve his techinque, and just primarily the little things. Breaston is quick and doesn't lose any speed when he puts the pads on, but he doesn't run a great timed speed. Calvin, Dwayne, Sidney, and Monk, it would be great if they ran faster than a 4.55. Monk, I'd say his at a 4.6. He lacks speed, plain and simple. His a good possesion WR with great size though. Samardzija I have him timed at a 4.52 right now.

And, as of right now, Ginn is no Reggie Bush. Reggie Bush was an extremly special player that we talked about (and ended up) being a top 5 pick. Ginn, only a very few select people even mention his name and top 5. I see him going in the 15-25 range right now.

Is this just your opinion based on watching him (not that that's a bad thing), or have you been hearing this elsewhere? Again everything I've heard about Ginn from draftnicks is that he's one of those niche players and isn't really in the same tier (or is at the very bottom of the tier at best) as the other top Juniors and doesn't even get mentioned in the same sentence of Calvin.
