Agree 100% - Those that are relying on the cut to move just slightly could be in for a surprise this week if those 2 go off. Also if you're banking on a big night from Marshall to get you through remember that a large % of those above you will be moving the cutline up too.For example I'm at 148 this week & Marshall -6.4. MNF FBG contest scorecardMarshall 2113 owners alive (42%)Cutler 1318 (26%)Prater 1206 (24%)NE DT 442 (9%)Others less than 150 each (<3%)Welker, Moss, SMorris, Pittman, Den DT, GostkIf you're below the cut and own the guys <3% owned those are the ones that will help you move up the charts much quicker than Cutler/Marshall.

a big night by Cutler/Marshall could move the cutoff quite a bit. if i was close and didn't have either of those guys, i'd be :goodposting:

Well, if you're already well above the cut, any more points you score isn't going to move the line one bit. The cut moves as the people that are near the cut line score more points. Though overall I agree with your point that we may see an unusually big move in the line tonight, since many of the Cutler/Marshall owners probably are the ones near or below the cut line.

I'm about 8 points below the pre-MNF cut now, and I have Cutler -14, Marshall -1, and Prater -4. Here's hoping Denver just blows the f up offensively and carries my squad into week 8... :goodposting:

Well, the football gods are not exactly smiling on the Cutler/Marshall owners right now. Per the fantasystar database, we've only jumped from 112.5 to 114.1. Unless things change for scoring by the big dogs, the cut won't move as anticipated by predicted scoring.

As a Cutler/Marshall owner, tonights events might be the best thing for my chances in this contest. Being at 127pts, it might not be a bad thing to weed out some of the other Cutler/Marshall owners.

Good point, assuming you don't need their points to get on the good side of the cut. Right now I'm thanking my lucky stars for Antonio and Matt Bryant, who put me in that category!

This may be one of the few weeks I am not just gonna skate above the cutoff. I thought I was out for sure a couple of times. Last couple years I was out by week 4.....

I started tonight at 125pt with Cutler (-0) Marshall (-1) and D. Jackson. I am sure to be near the cutline, but I think I am pretty safe. Any points Marshall or Jackson get will add to my score. It will be interesting to see how many Romo and Cutler owners get eliminated this week.

I've got 125.75 as of now. I'm cutting it real close! I need a big pass from Cutler to Marshall, or a Prater FG, or another big play from the NE Def.

I think I'm gonna make it, but this week was too close for comfort.

Not following along real closely eh????

Looks like the final prediction is 123.7. Slid in with a 148.3. Didn't want Cutler to come back in, but at least we know he's a gamer that will play through an injury...

About 140+...good enough if the number holds...I do have Cutler and Marshall, would love to see a ton of those owners go bye bye. Won't most of the Romo/Warner combos bid adieu as well this week?

I'd sure like to see how many Warner/Romo Warner/Cutler owners get bounced, I don't think it's going to be as many as some think.

162.25

Fourteenkickerguy sure hopes you are right. He scored 128.05 and had only one active WR (Santana Moss) and no flex player at all.

*sigh* Still coming to grips with being out with the 90-something. Will have to put all my chips in with FourteenKickerGuy!

This isn't like even having the Turk on your door, it's like getting cut right while on the practice field.

*Sigh*

Good luck to the survivors and it still feels good to at least make it this far and be in the top-half of FBG for the 3rd straight year in the contest.

Off to go  and :lmao: some more.

Was at 103.5 this morning, mostly due to no QBs (Warner + Romo = bad week 7). Thank you Randy Moss!!! 127.4 and hopefully squeaking in...

On to week 8 with 171.25 points. This week was a 20% elimination rate (from 5000 down to 4000), and next week will be a 22.5% elimination rate (from 4000 down to 3100).

My roster:

Used 7 times - Clinton Portis

Used 6 times - Tony Gonzalez

Used 5 times - Maurice Jones-Drew, Steve Smith (CAR), Steve Breaston

Used 4 times - Jay Cutler, Steve Slaton, Brandon Marshall, Jerricho Cotchery, Derrick Mason, Kris Brown, Dolphins D

Used 3 times - Jason Hanson, Jets D

Used 2 times - Kurt Warner, Leon Washington

Used 1 time - Jake Delhomme, Ray Rice, Reggie Williams, Dustin Keller

Not yet used - Maurice Morris, Ricky Williams

Players on bye in week 8 - Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall

Players on bye in week 9 - Jake Delhomme, Steve Smith

Players on bye in week 10 - Clinton Portis

Went with 3 QB's this year and a WR to go with each of them. All on different byes. Wanted to be able to double-dip with 3 QB/WR tandems in all but 3 weeks. Marshall was suspended for game 1 and I used Cutler. Since then, I've used a QB/WR tandem in every week (combined scores of 81.70, 52.40, 53.80, 40.20, 41.60, and 46.75). A decent strategy, as long as you think the values for each player are good. A bad example of this would've been Marc Bulger ($17) and Torry Holt ($32).

Brees / McNabb / Warner QB trio. Thought Brees' 10.55 might sink me this week, but I managed a 129.5 even with 8 0's in on the roster. Fingers crossed for another week!

After this week, I will finally have used all of my players except Nugent and Maurice Morris.

Only player I've used every week is Robbie Gould.

Portis was unused one week, Turner 2, everyone else is pretty evenly split.

No huge weeks, but I take it as a good sign when I'm using different players every week and most weeks I leave one or two 10+ point scoring RB/WR on the bench.

:crossingfingers:

144.5.

I thought I was done for sure with no QB (Romo/Warner/Ryan), one point from my K (Prater/Nugent), and 4 points from my defense.

Survived the cut - again;

I have made it 3 times by 6 points or less, including once by less than a point;

I am now past the bye week issues for all of my WR and all by MBIII at RB ( I still have CJ, MJD and Slaton that week)

I do have to get by week 9 with only Mcnabb at QB, but he plays Seattle that week so I ought to be OK.

But first things first, let's get past week 8.

There seems to be a discrepancy in the Chicago defense scoring between thefantasystar(30) and the official FBG scoring(24). Just thought OC might want to check it out. If this was already pointed out, my apologies. I've tried to keep up with the thread but given the number of posts, a few might slip by.
