2011 offseason dynasty trades (1 Viewer)

A couple of big ones in HyperActive 3 (12 team PPR)

A gave: Blount/Graham

B gave: Tampa Mike/2.07

MTSkibum gave up Green-Ellis, BenJarvus NEP RB; Year 2011 Draft Pick 2.05Loose Circuits gave up Armstrong, Anthony WAS WR; Year 2011 Draft Pick 2.12I have made 40-50 trade offers this offseason trying to get rid of BJGE. He is a tough sell right now. People believe that New England is going to bring in a runningback to compete with him. The reason that I am scared of him, and want to move him is because he is not as good at breaking tackles, receiving, or blocking as Danny Woodhead.

The only obvious parallel in terms of a player that could potentially suffer a similar downturn in fortune would be the Patriots’ BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Much was made of New England’s Law Firm topping the 1,000 yard mark for the season, but he was running behind one of the league’s top three run-blocking units of 2010, and his ratio of forced missed tackles per attempt sits among the bottom 20 players in this study. If the Patriots experience a drop in run-blocking prowess in 2011 (very possible if they lose the services of Mankins in particular) then Green-Ellis might start to feel the eye of scrutiny a lot more.
It doesnt really matter if new england brings in a high round draft pick or not. Simply put BJGE is not a good runningback.
I agree that he has been extremely difficult to move, especially in one of my 14-team PPRs. However, with Ryan Williams already rostered there and the 1.01 in the upcoming diluted rookie draft, i'd think it would be a pretty decent scenario if NE drafts either him or Leshoure...

Ditto, and convincingly I might add.
I agree with the winners on the above, not sure if I'm on the convincingly part, though, as 1 and 2 are not too far apart...

I would want to see the rosters of the teams those picks correspond to and how the rest of the league looks. If I thought all of those picks would most likely end up in the 1.8~1.12 range, I would probably prefer Marshall & Benson. My guess is that the 1.11 & 1 of those 2012's were team B's which just got even better by acquiring the 2 vets. So the wild card is the quality of roster on the teams those other 2 2012's originally belonged to.

The 2012 picks were from what I considered to be 1 top 4 team and 2 of the bottom 6 teams. None of the picks were from the team receiving Marshall and Benson.

I can post all the rosters, but my take on it was worst case 1.5,1.6, and 1.12 for the 2012s.

My team has quite a few picks this year also, if I draft well I could have a serious contender next year. I usually don't handle dynos this way so it will be interesting.

If one of those two poorer teams ends up with a high pick I think it will have been worth it. I love marshall, but it's hard to argue with the knuckleheadness.

Just traded Brees, Wells, and Starks for Rodgers, 1.6, and Jacoby Jones
Is the difference between Brees and Rodgers really that much?
Short term, I'd say no. But my team here is rebuilding, so I thought getting 5 years younger at QB might be worth it. I have the 1.3-1.7 plus 1.11 rookie picks, so figure I'll restock some RB depth.
guess I must like Starks & Wells more than you cause I love this rookie RB class, but still wouldn't do this deal. Then again I also think Jacoby Jones is on his last leg as well and basically worthless

fairly big trade just completed

12 team PPR Dynasty, start 2RB/2WR/1TE and can flex any of them

Gave up:

1.03

1.06

D Clark

Got:

Bowe

V Davis

1.11

I hated giving up the 1.03, but it could have been Ingram in a timeshare somewhere... and I am still very weak at RB2 but getting 2 young proven players is key to my rebuilding project (which is odd for a team i just drafted six weeks ago).

Current Roster:

Roth, Sanchez, Tebow, A Smith

CJ, Scott, Ringer, K Smith

Dez, Bowe, Thomas, Knox, J Jones, LaFell, Hester

V Davis, Olsen, Tamme

1.01, 1.08, 1.09, 1.11 and 2.05

I would pay that for Rodgers all day every day. Although I do not see Wells or Starks ever becoming top 10 backs. The 1.6 should yield a good prospect and you get THE stud QB who is 5-6 years younger.

if I was you, I'd trade down to 1.03 if you can get value. Looks like your team is pretty good at WR not so good at RB. If Ingram goes already, just grab Leshoure

He could have drafted many of the picks in his start-up draft? I know some leagues do that.

since this was a Dynasty start up, i drafted the 1.03 Rookie at the 5.03 spot (which is the 1.03, 2.10 and 3,03), and made four total trades. It was my second trade earlier in this thread that netted me the 1.01 an 1.08 (for VJax and DWill + smaller parts). I was basically going into rebuild mode until this trade when i could convert some of the pics into established younger players. Once the rookie draft is over i will post in the AC section what i gave up and what i got. I will admit that i usually "tank" at least one of the skill positions with all my teams and right now it is RB2.

1.08 > Collie.
Not even close. Risk on Collie is no worse than risk on any pick outside of the top 3. We know his upside - top 5 WR. Collie is worth 1.4+.
Disagree. He had 3 concussions in the matter of 6 weeks. He makes of his living going across the middle into linebackers. Unless something changes with him, i can't see how he stays upright.
Obviously you can spin it both ways. He had 1 very bad concussion and was rushed back to help with a playoff run, and that mistake by Indy led to 2 more concussions. Aaron Rodgers (most likely) had 3 concussions last year. At least 2. DeSean Jackson had almost as brutal a one as Collie had and didn't go over the middle the rest of the year because of it. No one is junking the value of those players. What will you get at 1.8? DeMarco Murray, Randall Cobb? Not going to overpay for Collie, but those are gambles, and if the gamble on Collie pays it's a high payout.

That makes it even worse. They think the key to causing no long term damage is not subjecting a player to an additional concussion while stll recovering from the 1st. Collie most likely suffered from two while still recovering from the 1st one. I understand your point but he is literally probably one more bad hit from being all but done playing football. I'd rather take my chances on a mid round rookie in a good situation. Or better yet trade that pick for someone who i feel is going to be around long term.

I tend to agree with you and I was Team H (the team trading away Collie). I wasn't actively shopping him around and wasn't all that worried about the concussion issues (although of course it was in the back of my mind). I was approached by the other owner asking about Collie and that was the deal we worked out. I only made the deal because I wanted Bradford badly, and would not have traded Collie for the 1.8 straight up.ETA: Collie's market value is down however, as three owners in my league all made the same comment that 1.8 > Collie. I don't agree with that necessarily but those looking to buy or sell Collie should keep that in mind..

I wasn't involved in this trade but I'm curious what others think. I'm not a huge Beanie Wells guys anymore but this seemed like a real low price to acquire him. I think Mannigham did most of his damage while Nicks and Smith were out with injury but I do know he has his beleivers - what was surprising to me was that the owner dealing Wells needed to do the draft pick upgrades (although they were only a minor ones). It's a 12 team ppr league.

Team S gave up

Hightower, Tim ARI RB;

Wells, Chris ARI RB;

Year 2011 Draft Pick 3.03;

Year 2011 Draft Pick 3.10

Team G gave up

Manningham, Mario NYG WR;

Year 2011 Draft Pick 3.07;

Year 2011 Draft Pick 4.09

ETA: What made it worse imo was that Team S traded Greg Jennings and a 2011 third round pick to get Wells, Hightower and Blount a day or two before flipping Wells/Hightower for this.

I don't understand trading Jennings either. After the trade for Manningham the team was left with a WR of Branch/Manningham. I would've tried to move Blount for something of more value and kept Hightower/Wells as RB3/Flex and hope Wells figures it out. Hopefully the owner can move a RB for a WR, as this is a 3 WR PPR league.

he could have done a lot better than Blount/Manningham

Kinda funny. After i just spent the night knocking Collie, i just traded for him. If the value is right i guess. Still am uneasy about the guy but the risk/reward seemed ok at this level.

2.01 (17th pick) and a 3rd in 2012 for Collie
