Those paying these prices for Trent Richardson aren't leaving much room for error. He had better be a top 5 RB for the next 5-6 years, or they're overpaying. He had better stay healthy during that span, too.
Obviously if he busts, the trade sucks, but the same is true on the other side of these deals. Marshawn Lynch is 27 with massive baggage. Romo has been spiraling downwards, Dez hasn't proven anything and carries his own baggage, Murray is an oft-injured enigma, and middle firsts in a weak draft are crapshoots. I like both of those deals for Richardson, because in my mind, he is by far the safest asset in either trade (and his talent and upside are both tops, too). Now, I wouldn't trade a Rice or McCoy or Calvin or Green for him, but packaging a 3rd-4th round startup guy with some risky, low-end assets (like weak firsts or old QBs) in order to get a potential gamechanger? Those are the kinds of trades that I'm always looking to make.
