Please just no retreads, someone new and fresh. Looking forward to a new regime and thread.

There's been plenty of solid retread HC's. I have no problem with going that route just as long as it's the right guy.

I don't really see any retreads worth it. Gruden hasn't coached since 2008. Cowher even longer. That is a long time to be out of football to try and keep up with the game. Gruden still runs that QB camp or whatever so I guess he keeps up with the game but either way, he doesn't even seem to be in the running. The other thing with retreads like that, many of those guys don't seem to have the same fire they once did. Nobody really mentioned it with Andy, but when they showed older video of Andy on the sidelines and in camp, he seemed pretty fired up. Towards the end, he seemed complacent. I think that is why fans would like a new coach. They want someone to bring energy and fire to this team.

Bradley is on my Top 5 list as well. Devil's advocate view on him is that the improvement in the Seattle D has come after Pete Carroll arrived, who is a defensive guy and who coordinated Top 10 Defenses for the Jets, 49ers and Patriots (was HC) in the 90s. Would prefer an offensive guy but Bradley is the pick of the defensive candidates pretty easily.Once concern with a defensive HC is any time their OC has a good 2-3 yr period they will likely take off for a HC position of their own, as offensive guys are in such high demand. Good defensive assistants seem to be easier to hold on to.

I think I read somewhere that Greg Roman doesn't do as much as you might think. Jim Harbaugh calls a lot of stuff and the RB and WR coaches are very involved in the gameplanning and stuff like that.

More on the bolded. When the Packers were looking for a head coach the hot name was Brad Childress. Green Bay was rumored to interview him but Minnesota hired him before they had a chance. Many GB fans were upset that Green Bay didn't act more quickly and they lost their chance. They were even more upset with Thompson hired a no-name in McCarthy. Who the heck was he? I'm happy with how that turned out. It's not always the hot sexy name that turns out to be the next great coach.

McCoy was QB coach of the Panthers under Fox. Got a lot out of Delhomme considering he really was pretty marginal ability wise, but had consistent success and a Pro Bowl spot one year. Became Denver OC in 2009 (under McDaniels) and got 2 3500 yard passing seasons out of Kyle Orton where his QB rating was 10 points higher than either before or after those 2 years under McCoy. In 2011 changed the offense mid season after the switch to Tebow @ QB, and was able to win a playoff game with a guy who simply is not an NFL passer.

Admittedly you wouldn't expect anything less than what's being done this year with Manning, but I like McCoy for what he's done before this year. He's a coach who will get the most out of the talent that the team has, and has shown he can do that with different players and different teams.

Gruden is not a bad option as well, but doesn't have the same track record. McCoy has shown he can replicate his success, Gruden hasn't yet, but still might in the future.

Very good post, Jason. This is where I stand too. But I don't want Bradley. He seems like the type of guy who's message wears thin real fast. A Mike singletary or Rex Ryan type to be loud and curse but with no substance. Those types make good DCs but terrible head coaches.

I'd rather McCoy over Gruden. Gruden will have to live in his brothers shadow in this town because he'll always be the Gruden we didn't want for some people in the media who will never let that go. I too was skeptical on McCoy. I thought he was just a guy there holding the playsheet while Peyton does his thing. I think he's more than that though. He's a guy who adapts his scheme to the QB and players he has. He played to Delhomme's strengths and got him to a pro bowl level for a couple years. He got Tebow in a system to promote his strengths. He knew enough this year to be able to let Peyton do his thing and Peyton has given him a glowing endorsement. To me, this is the only guy I want out there now.

ThanksDidn't know he was there under McDaniel as well. I guess if he can may Delhomme, Orton and Tebow look like real QBs he would be OK with Foles

I think that is more of an indication how strong Bama is. Te'o will take a tumble. Eifert played well and probably cemented his 1st round spot but Walter football only had those 2 mocked in the first 3 rounds so I don't exactly think there were a ton of NFL prospects for this year to begin with.

You guys aren't scared of Jones' medical red flag? It's a pretty major one and could be a career shortener.

I've watched him every game for 2 years and he's legit. ND was the #1 team in the country and not one person looked good for them...that speaks more to Alabama then anything.I still want a 3-4 and Jarvis Jones the most but I'd be happy with Joeckel as well.

Would be absolutely giddy if Jones dropped to them but unless there is some shifting between the combine and the draft (which is a very good chance) I don't see him dropping to 4.

I think we'll have a decent shot if/ when a QB launches into the top 3. That seems to always happen and the 3 teams that pick ahead of us are all QB starved at the moment.

You guys aren't scared of Jones' medical red flag? It's a pretty major one and could be a career shortener.

If he's not there then no way we take OT at 4. The drop off is simply too big. However with Andy Reid picking at #1, I wouldn't be surprised if he took him there.
