Just saw someone post this.
The two rumors I've seen were that Whisenhunt could be OC and the DC would be the DL coach Seattle currently has.I'm excited about Bradley if we lock him down. Is he a known commodity? Of course not. Could he struggle? Sure. But he's a young, aggressive coach that's clearly good at defensive play-calling, and by all accounts of those who have coached with him, is a focused and prepared guy. I'm not at all worried about having a defensive head coach versus an offensive minded one. I prefer my head coach not to call the plays, so this guarantees that our OC will be the play-caller. If Bradley is the guy, my ONLY concern would be that he doesn't pull someone from the Seattle offensive coaching staff as his OC. Tom Cable would be the most likely choice and I want no part of that.
Todd Walsh, yeah, I've heard that too.The two rumors I've seen were that Whisenhunt could be OC and the DC would be the DL coach Seattle currently has.I'm excited about Bradley if we lock him down. I think defensive head coaches are generally better overall team managers during games because they are usually not wrapped up in the playcalling. You watch coaches like Garrett, Kubiak, Shanahan, and they can't seem to get their heads out of a playbook during a game. Compare that to Bill Belichek last weekend. He is talking to the defense right before New Englands last touchdown. During the play, he looks up at the scoreboard, sees they got another touchdown, and turns right back to his defensive players and keeps talking to them.I want a coach who is aware of the flow of the game, who is free to manage the clock appropriately, who can make adjustments in all aspects of the team (offense, defense, and special teams), and who can motivate the right players at the right time. A good head coach is not just a coordinator who hires another coordinator to handle the other side of the ball.

+1"I accept full responsibility...to bring a championship to this town once and for all!" - Gus Bradley presser.Love that their going with a defensive mindset for the new era too. Not too proud to say it's worked for our rivals like for example the Giants, and I'm a big fan of starting with someone already strong in that department. and really eager to see how he starts things off at the draft.Interesting point. Though I'm not sure that using Belichick as the positive example is necessarily fair. I guess the additional (current) positive arguments would be Tomlin and Lovie Smith, but also you have Nolan, Del Rio recently who flamed out. Or a guy like Rex who is absorbed with making the defense killer and neglects offense. Payton and McCarthy won Super Bowls and Harbaugh is doing a great job. I noticed the same thing with BB and thought to myself how awesome that was.He use to know people and get a lot of good info but a lot of his "info" lets just call it has been lacking in recent yrs. So I'm subjected to take what he says these days with a grain of salt as they say.Say what you want about Eskin, but he knows people inside the novacare building. Probably done deal tomorrow.Howard Eskin @howardeskin#eagles HC situation is crazy. Source just told me Gus Bradley coming to Phila to finalist deal. Think eag could have coach in 24 hrs. Crazy
I agree that it is not cut and dried. I think there are offensive coaches who don't get wrapped up in the playcalling, like Harbaugh, who are great head coaches. I think Payton and McCarthy have benefitted tremendously from having such good QB's and offenses that the defensive side of the ball was largely irrelevent. As a whole though, I think defensive coaches are more involved in the whole game as opposed to just focusing on one side of the ball. This is a generalization so obviously there are exceptions.Interesting point. Though I'm not sure that using Belichick as the positive example is necessarily fair. When the scheme is pretty much dependent on individual effort from pass rushers.... no duh they need more pass rushers. You're drawing a conclusion that doesn't dispel anything I've said.https://mobile.twitter.com/Curtis_Crabtree/status/290959368936095744Apparently your coach feels the lack of pass rush is a personnel issue. It wasn't just personnel improvement, it was a complete changeover in personnel, attitude and size. I'm not saying he's horrible. I just don't think he adds much to the D and has had serious issues in getting to the QB and in stopping third downs. With the amount of involvement Carroll has with the D, the next guy won't suffer much in growing pains.Show me one case where a personnel improvement doesn't equal on the field improvement. I can't gather all of the links to document this but since Bradley's entered the HC coaching ring I can't remember one bad thing said about the guy and plenty of good on the other end of it. IIRC Kiffin, current players, un-named sources, etc all speak highly of the guy. As many know here I'm far from blindly defending someone for the Eagles' sake but these posts from a SEA homer strikes me as a sour grapes type involvement. I'll gladly take my chance on a young, high energy former coordinator that's statistically improved the group under his charge.'mad sweeney said:Chris has really come on the last few years in Seattle like he didn't do in his previous stops. You can point to his early career and scoff but he's nowhere near the same player he was there. He isn't elite, but he's in the very good category. Also, it's more Carroll's involvement than Bradley's, IMO, that's made the defense improve every year considering how much he made over the personnel once he got there. Like I said, good riddance. I sure as hell hope not. That would be a huge loss for Carroll's staff.I'm excited about Bradley if we lock him down. Is he a known commodity? Of course not. Could he struggle? Sure. They drafted Irvin in the first round and he had something like 9 sacks as a Rookie. How much more pass rush are the expecting? Thats not counting Clemons who had like 5 in one game ...https://mobile.twitter.com/Curtis_Crabtree/status/290959368936095744Apparently your coach feels the lack of pass rush is a personnel issue. It wasn't just personnel improvement, it was a complete changeover in personnel, attitude and size. Im hoping Wisenhunt doesnt get a HC position and comes in to rejuvenate his career. They were saying that this visit he'll be with his family and basically take a tour of the city. Hopefully they get it done today so he can start to put together his staff. I'll be very interested to see who his OC is and who he brings from Seattle with him as his DC.Maybe sooner..Howard Eskin... Think #eagles HC could obviously have come down 2 Whisenhut and Bradley. Nothing done but source: finalizing deal w Bradley. McCoy was my first choice when this started as well, Bradley was in my Top 5. We'll see how he goes in SD, but it was obvious any interest the Eagles had in him evaporated completely after his interview. He obviously didn't impress them for some reason, and I'll defer to that unless he wins a SuperBowl in SD.See this is what I am curious about ^^^^^ The playoffs over the weekend showed that you need a high powered offense in this league. I am all for having a solid defense but you need an offense that is better then that defense. As of right now, we don't know #### what Bradley knows about offense. This is why I would have rather had McCoy. Speaking of whom, Chargers a nearing a deal with him.

Talking to a friend of mine who's a huge Cardinals fan (yeah don't find them every day anymore) said the Eagles would be wise to steer clear of Wisenhunt. He and many Cards fans think he's horrible and he did nothing to help the QBs he had.Im hoping Wisenhunt doesnt get a HC position and comes in to rejuvenate his career. They were saying that this visit he'll be with his family and basically take a tour of the city. Your friend is very perceptive. Talking to a good friend that's well connected to AZ says that there's a good reason they call him Whisennutts. I read an interesting article (or maybe it was NFL Network?) sometime in the last year that defensive coaches tend to make good HCs because of the nature of their job: Offensive coordinators are "problem creators" and defensive coordinators are "problem solvers" in which (was insinuated to mean) in-game adjustments come more naturally. The "problem creators" have a more difficult time adjusting to when things are not going right.Have I done any amount of research on this or really believe the premise? No. I actually don't understand the argument that one would be naturally better than the other, but I just thought it was an interesting distinction between OCs and DCs. Also, I would love to see which type of HC tends to win more games where their teams are in a deficit at halftime as a sort of pseudo-answer to this assertion.I'm excited about Bradley if we lock him down. Is he a known commodity? Of course not. Could he struggle? Sure. The news it's reporting isn't true. Deal is still not done. I don't believe twitter accounts that try to jump the story. Only thing I found either way on it.Still waiting to see if Gus is headed to Jacksonville or not
Howard Eskin @howardeskin@Doubles7605 #GusBus #GusBradley #DOYOURJOB bradley did not leave town. Sleeping in town tonight. Will know in morning.
I wish I were his agent. If Gus is not named coach today, I think it's time to question the front office's ability to run this franchise.

Not good at allReport: Bradley Will Interview With JaguarsPosted by Sheil Kapadia on January 16, 2013 at 7:52 am | 0 CommentsThe Eagles are letting Gus Bradley get out of town today. The Seahawks defensive coordinator will travel to Jacksonville to interview for the Jaguars head-coaching position, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.Bradley spent several hours yesterday interviewing with Jeffrey Lurie, Howie Roseman and Don Smolenski at Lurie’s home. The logical guess was that if the Eagles viewed Bradley as their No. 1 target, they would have worked hard on getting a deal done today, without letting him leave Philadelphia. But that apparently is not happening, which would indicate other candidates are in the mix.So, where does this leave the Eagles? Bradley shouldn’t be ruled out completely, although the chances of him landing here take a big hit with him leaving town.Ken Whisenhunt vaulted past Brian Billick in the Eagles’ eyes, sources told McManus. The team has also interviewed Lovie Smith, Mike Nolan and Jay Gruden. But Smith left town to interview with other teams. Nolan has said that he’ll only leave Atlanta for the perfect opportunity. And there’s been little indication that the team considers Jay Gruden a serious candidate. There’s also the possibility that the search goes on. The Eagles probably would have liked to have a coach in place by the end of the week so that the staff could travel to the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. this weekend. But it’s clear that they are going to continue to be thorough. Perhaps a surprise candidate pops up at the last second? Someone who isn’t on anybody’s radar? There are currently three head-coaching positions available: Philadelphia, Jacksonville and Arizona. The Bears will hire Montreal Alouettes (CFL) coach Marc Trestman, the team announced. As for the other two openings, Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will interview with the Cardinals and the Jaguars, per Albert Breer of NFL Network. Arizona has requested permission to talk to Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians as well. Apparently notIt's done deal. It was done last night but they wouldn't announce anything at 10 pm and not get a chance to take advantage of the spotlight. They'll finish off the paperwork this morning with signatures and then make the announcement in the afternoon. Welcome Gus!
Yea. This is not good. He may still sign here and be the coach but the fact that you didn't convince him after 8+ hours of interview over 2 days says that there is a problem. The fact that he still wants to look at Jacksonville is damning to this front office. Lurie flew his Jet out to get him from Seattle and brought him to his house and still he was not convinced based on whatever the discussion was?
