2013 FBG Album Poll Voting Thread - Monday Jan 13 is deadline (1 Viewer)

No one else liked the Lorde album? Interesting.
I was surprised how good the whole album is, its more than just Royals, and Team. Its well made and a fun listen, but I have trouble taking her serously and music wise it doesnt really hit me like my favorite albums of a given year do.

Thoughts on the lists of less than 10 albums? My initial thought was not to count them, but I'm not sure that's the fairest way to do it. I may do the 20, 19, 18, etc.. distribution, so they are still counted, but don't see a 30 point bump from someone who may have only listened to a handful of albums.
I like your second idea, the descending points. If someone can't be bothered to follow official FBG album poll protocol, it's on them.

Whatever you decide is cool with me.
Even that is generous. I think someone on page one only listened to two albums and wanted to give those two 30 points each.

I only saw three 2013 movies and would never dream of going into a 2013 Movie Poll and voting for The Hobbit, Thor, and Ironman 3 as the three best.
Good point :lmao:

Id say anyone who listed less than 10 albums, should just go 10, 9, 8 distribution instead of starting from 19. But, your call NV.

I had written earlier thAt she has disappointed me. I realize that it's age and the world we live in, but her over eagerness to be a pop star has minimized how good the record is. She didn't need to get in to a twitter battle with Selena Gomez or go on th Ellen show. The music is good enough to be above all that. Oh well.

NV, I slightly changed my scoring, mainly bumping 1 album. Bolded are the changes. Sorry for the late audible.

2. Arctic Monkeys - AM (30 pts)

3. Local Natives - Hummingbird (30 pts)

4. Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires In The City (30 pts)

5. Jake Bugg - S/T (30 pts)

6. J Roddy Walston & the Business - Essential Tremors (25 pts)

7. Jake Bugg - Shangri-La (5 pts)

8. Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite - Get Up! (5 pts)

Early guess on how this will shake out ...

Probably a good guess....predictable and a bit boring, but they were all really good.
Not to say anyone is "wrong" but this thread is always nice to learn about records I wouldn't have been exposed to otherwise. I hope it goes both ways: the 1975, drake, and McCartney all had really really good albums this year that fans of any style should be able to enjoy.

Its hard to tell with these threads, because about 1/3 of the votes/points arent really posted. Arcade Fire seems to be getting a lot of votes. If it ends up how you say, that would easily be the closest my favorite albums were to the FFA.

Im also intrigued by Bugg. Ive seen quite a few votes for his S/T album, but I think his newer album Shangri-La is better. Not sure if all those S/T actually prefer it, or dont even realize he already made another album last year.

Just turned mine in. Really hope Deafheaven gets some love in here. But I'm not holding my breath with all of you old geezers.

I think most young people hate screamo too.
I'm not a fan of deathmetal or whatever it is the kids are calling it these days.that's sad (sic... "that said"... although i guess the deathmometal is kinda sad too) I put it on my list because the music on this one is pretty f****** good. if you can get by the always ridiculous hoarse screaming, this one is definitely worth a listen.
