2014 NFL Free Agents (2 Viewers)

@AdamSchefter: Filed to ESPN: Denver has emerged as the favorite to land former Dallas DE DeMarcus Ware, per league sources.
DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller. Interesting.
Add in DRC and Broncos defense just got scary.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Not sure what's so funny. With the additions of Ware and Ward plus re-signing of DRC and a healthy Derek Wolfe back(potentially), Denver's defense would look rock solid on paper for sure

Add in a healthy Vickerson, Moore, Von, and Moore.

It looks good but it may not all mesh, remember how badly it blew up on the Eagles a few years ago. I personally like what they did even though I can't stand the Broncos

I'd love to see Green Bay sign a player. :kicksrock:

Did you actually think they would on day 1?Or should with most of these contracts?
TJ ward would've been nice at a reasonable price. I get not overpaying and rewarding your own but at some point relatively soon Thompson needs to add talent to this defense.
Agree on Ward as I said earlier. Surprised his deal was as reasonable as it was. Tt would have.likely had to go a tiny bit higher to get him.

TT wont act much in the early.parts. ever.

Filed to ESPN: Denver has reached agreement on a 6-year, $57M deal that includes $26M gtd with former Patriots CB Aqib Talib, per sources. Per Adam Schefter

With Don Brown on his way to SD, Indy seems to be leaving itself hanging with Trent, Bradshaw and Ballard. One of those guys has proved he can stay healthy and he averages 3.0 ypc.

Not overly impressed with DRC at this stage of his career. Even less so Ware.

However, it's starting to look pretty 'scary' with the addition of Talib though....

Good god, how much cap space did Denver have?
going all in on some rings with Manning - I imagine these contracts are light on cap hit early on. We'll probably see many of these guys be cut next year or the following.
And/or backloaded for the post Manning seasons.

I don't see all these big name guys doing that. They are looking for paydays. They aren't going to sign contracts that are back loaded when they know they will never see those years. I am not aware of Denver's cap though so they were probably in really good shape. I hope this blows up on them though.

They do when the guarantee is enough.

I'm sure they gave them the guaranteed money they wanted. 26M guaranteed for Talib is a ton - but spread over 6 years? Little over 4 mil of that hits this year.

Same money Gerhart got. Solid insurance for Mathews.

Donald Brown - RB - Chargers
Chargers agreed to terms with RB Donald Brown, formerly of the Colts, on a three-year, $10.5 million contract.
The deal includes $4 million guaranteed. With the Chargers already having Danny Woodhead and Ryan Mathews, this one is a definite head scratcher. Mathews is coming off a breakout year, while Woodhead is due just $1.75 million after another strong season. It's worth noting that Bolts GM Tom Telesco is the Colts' former VP of football operations. He clearly has a soft spot for "Dammit Donald," who seemed like a lost cause until picking up the pieces for Trent Richardson last season. He'll likely serve as a deluxe Ronnie Brown, catching passes and picking up blitzes, though he's never been a terribly effective pass protector.

OK now can the Pats please sign a corner or at least a DL/DE? I know they usually wait but i want to wake up happy!

Sucks to see Talib go, but when Denver overpays that much, not much they can do. Talib's pretty happy though, that's gonna be like 1.5 million a game.

I hate it when teams 'build' like Denver is now. Just seems cheap.
I agree. I also don't like them. I really hope this turns into the Eagles of a couple years ago. I doubt it will though Manning will lead them to at least 10 wins even if the defense sucks
