AdamSchefter: So the players being shopped have been released yet the player being released, Darren Sproles, now is being shopped. And will be traded

I have no idea WTF this means

Lots of players were being shopped...nobody made offers so they were released.

Sproles was announced that he would be released. Before it was official, they apparently have received interest in him and are now likely to get something back for him.

God I hope it is not the Vikings.

The Vikings certainly do not need him for special teams.

Would make sense though, Gerhart leaving, Turner is OC, Asiata doesn't catch really - I just don't think (guessing) NO wants to trade him to an NFC team and they don't want him to sign as a FA in conference or especially in-division.

Giants agreed to terms with RB Rashad Jennings, formerly of the Raiders.
Jennings was supposed to be a free-agent priority for the Raiders, but they let him walk without much of a fight. According to CSN Bay Area, the Giants offered "a lot more." Jennings is two weeks shy of his 29th birthday, but has just 484 career touches. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry last season, and is an excellent pass catcher. He's a nice insurance policy for David Wilson. Mar 11 - 5:23 PM
Rotoworld, you so crazy
Hey, at least I'm not quoting rotoworld a 100 times a day ;)

What about Sproles to SF for LaMichael James and/or late round pick? SF like to dance this time of year and they are rumored to be looking to move him.

Make it James or Lattimore? - I may need to forward this to Mickey Loomis.

I dont think it would make sense honestly. The Vikings need a RB who can block and they re-signed Sherrels so there is no job for him on returns.

I am very excited about the Vikings signing Jospeh (I didn't think they could pull that off) and the re-signing of Griffen. Both of these moves make a lot of sense. Right now what the Vikings need is a starting caliber cornerback.

The Vikings have Joe Banyard who looked pretty decent in preseason for a COP RB if Gerhart walks.

I do not see how Sproles fits to be perfectly honest when the Vikings also have Patterson who can do everything Sproles does in the passing game and for constraint plays better than I think Sproles offers at his age.

McFadden resigns with Raiders, link coming...

edit: no link, it was a site quoting Sheffter tweet:

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter

Raiders re-signed RB Darren McFadden to a one-year, $4 million deal, per source.
What percentage of that goes to the trainers?
lol. fwiw looks like a good setup for the Raiders, only $1.25M committed.Darren McFadden's deal with #Raiders is 1-year, $1 .75M. Has $1 .25M base, $500K in bonuses (including $256K in per-game). $2 .25M incentives.
That's a horrific deal for him if those incentives aren't total gimmes. He might end up making less than some straight backups.
He might be a backup next season.

One year deal with minimal financial commitment. Doesn't exactly scream "long term solution." Looks like an insurance policy if the rookie they draft is a flop. Not totally dissimilar to Dwyer's deal last year or what ended up happening with Mendenhall.

It's a tough pill for folks to swallow that McFadden is a back up level RB at this point. He was touted as the next big thing, we quickly learned he wasn't, but I think a lot of folks out there believe he could thrive given the right situation. Maybe he can but the injuries have taken their toll. Obviously he enjoys Oakland and wanted to stay if possible.

I would try and convert him more to a pass catching threat and cut down on his carries.

WOW

@AdamSchefter: Saints are giving former Bills S Jairus Byrd a six-year, $54 million contract, including $28 million guaranteed, per source.

@RossTuckerNFL:
Jimmy Graham just threw up. MT: @AdamSchefter: Saints giving Byrd six-year, $54 million including $28 million guaranteed

@AdamSchefter: Vikings free-agent DE Jared Allen is talking with the Bears and Seattle Seahawks.

Seahawks with Allen really would be scary.
