Coming Soon: "Blind Sided- The Jake Locker Story" starring Michael Oher
This one made me chuckle a wee bit.
I can't believe they are replacing Fitzpatrick with Whitehurst. I mean the probabilty that Whitehurst will be forced into action while Locker is injured seems high.
He's a stiff who runs (trots) 5 yards down the field, catches the ball (or drops it about half the time) and then falls down. He only has any numbers because there's nobody after Calvin. I don't know how anybody can defend Pettigrew.seriously?voiceofunreason said:I've heard a lot of questions about his blocking lately but admittedly I don't spend a lot of time watching TEs block. He's a classic TE. Solid blocker, nice hands for a TE.
If you want to compare him to these guys that would be WRs in other eras or somesuch, yeah he won't measure up.
284 catches in 5 years, many games with 6 catches or more.
He was the top TE in the draft when he entered the league.
Yeah If Im the Lions, I would of given Pettigrews cash to Captain Munnerlyn, started Fauria, and drafted a TE in round3.He's a stiff who runs (trots) 5 yards down the field, catches the ball (or drops it about half the time) and then falls down. And whether you take them as gospel or not, PFF had him below average as a blocker.
In my book he stinks and has no worth.
It not really a great class of TE beyond the top 3. I am not buying the hype on Troy Niklas. Colt Lyerla is good but a little undersized and comes with baggage. Crockett Gilmore is a nice sleeper. The other prospects look like they should get drafted in rounds 5-7.Yeah If Im the Lions, I would of given Pettigrews cash to Captain Munnerlyn, started Fauria, and drafted a TE in round3.
What is wrong with Niklas. Does he not have a floor of Brandon Pettigrew? Upside is much higher than this and chance to be pretty good. The kid has some skills. It not really a great class of TE beyond the top 3. I am not buying the hype on Troy Niklas. Colt Lyerla is good but a little undersized and comes with baggage. I have seen him get mocked to the late 1st and early 2nd. He is not fast and has questionable hands. If anything he is alot like Pettigrew entering the league. that can go with any player in the end. This is not an exact science and you can only do your best. That is why rookie draft picks are a 50% commodity for round 1. I just did an example for one of the guys in my league who thought he had drafted well. He was 2-9 in round 1(only hits Fitz and Calvin as top 2 picks). We do draft round 1 before NFL draft He was 0-5 in round 2 and 1-7 in round 3. My hit rate was 40% overall and than is how do you grade a Micheal Clayton(my only WR pick since 2000 in round 1) Vincent Jackson and Anquan Boldin at end of round 2 save me.I have seen him get mocked to the late 1st and early 2nd. I was referring to his NFL draft status. NationalFootballPost had him going in the 1st round in one of their mock.that can go with any player in the end. Shocked.
Kind of makes sense I think.

As should I.I should have know better. Saints can't afford him since he is unwilling to take a pay cut.
He has said recently he is willing to take a cut to make a trade easier.I should have known better. Saints can't afford him since he is unwilling to take a pay cut.
They HAVE to draft 2, early.Question: has any free agent WR actually paid a visit to the Panthers yet?
The report was that CAR made an offer to Nicks, 4.5 mill, but he didn't even visit?
Decker, gone. Nicks, gone. Edelman, gone.
After Jones, what are the Panthers really looking at? Holmes?
Better remaining WRs after Jones:
Sanders
Baldwin
Simpson
Austin
Holmes
DHB
Burleson
Avant
Rice
I'm interested in one of the guys on their roster: McNutt. Good size, decent speed. A little familiarity in their ranks. Could give him a leg up on the rooks.Question: has any free agent WR actually paid a visit to the Panthers yet?

Good grief, will you guys get over it? They are not sacrificing the future with these moves. My lord. Elway is going to have a fit if Manning gets hurt this year. They are all in this year.
When did I say anything about sacrificing their future?Good grief, will you guys get over it? They are not sacrificing the future with these moves. My lord. Elway is going to have a fit if Manning gets hurt this year. They are all in this year.
I misread your post. When did I say anything about sacrificing their future?Good grief, will you guys get over it? They are not sacrificing the future with these moves. My lord. Elway is going to have a fit if Manning gets hurt this year. They are all in this year.
Or we'll have the "Brett Farve 2010", aka hit bottom after a career year....My lord. Elway is going to have a fit if Manning gets hurt this year. They are all in this year.
Made me wonder if they draft a RB in the third or so to be in a RBBC. They aren't exactly pinning their future to him. They could always extend him in the future, but I was also expecting more than two years and more money. The good thing for CLE, minimal cost if he continues to get injured. Other teams may not have beat his door down if there is concern he is a system RB that benefited from the HOU scheme. Though OC Shanahan would have some overlap, so signing him makes more sense for them.Browns sure seemed to get Tate on the cheap when you look at the money given to Brown and Gerhart. I would have thought that Tate would be a hotter commodity. Another sign of the depressed RB market.
Sell before the season starts. As a guy who owns Gerhart, LaFell, and Sanders in a deep dynasty, I'm pretty giddy right now.
and the rich get richer...Henry Melton is in negotiations with the Seahawks
And the Saints linemen don't want him because he'll blame them when he puts up more mediocre stats.I should have known better. Saints can't afford him since he is unwilling to take a pay cut.
He's one hit away from having that neck force him into retirement. Instead of more WRs, they should focus on his line…I have no idea if there is room for improvement or not.My lord. Elway is going to have a fit if Manning gets hurt this year. They are all in this year.
His upside was 4 years ago, before his injuries and loss of speed. There is a reason NO NFL team gave him a multi-year deal.1 year in Indy might land him a bigger deal. Upside is huge.wasn't a "long term deal" the most important thing to him?identikit said:Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter

According to this CAR offered him $4.5 mill "per season." That sounds like a multi=year. His upside was 4 years ago, before his injuries and loss of speed.
