I don't know why any team would want Pettigrew. He can't block, catch or run. Lions, Raiders and Jets make sense the way they are all run.

I agree with most of what you said, but the things in have read about Pettigrew he is actually a very good blocker.

I have always heard the same regarding his blocking, but only hearsay.

Pass blocking is his strength.

I've heard a lot of questions about his blocking lately but admittedly I don't spend a lot of time watching TEs block. He's definitely not much of a receiving threat though. I thought the Lions would move on to someone with a little more upside.

He's a classic TE. Solid blocker, nice hands for a TE.

If you want to compare him to these guys that would be WRs in other eras or somesuch, yeah he won't measure up.

284 catches in 5 years, many games with 6 catches or more.

He was the top TE in the draft when he entered the league.

Emmanuel Sanders has been crisscrossing the country visiting teams this week, but the former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver might not get the kind of contract he covets because of medical concerns.

Sanders has a screw in each foot, stemming from injuries he sustained in the Super Bowl following the 2010 season, and teams might be leery of signing the four-year veteran to a long-term deal.

Fitz was staying 6-8 weeks ago.

Whisenhunt and staff must have seen somethings they didn't like and/or the personal chats didn't go as expected. This changed.

He's got a fine cap # for a QB (2.5 mil IIRC) so this surely wasn't a money thing.

Most Titans fans would tell ya that Rusty (3rd string) stinks so there was a need for another QB and I figured Whitehurst was replacing Rusty and bringing in a vet familiar with the offense. I'm a bit surprised Fitz was released.

From what I can tell, he was on Whisenhunt's PS in Arizona and signed to Titans around the same time as Whisenhunt did. Doesn't even look like he's played in NFL, why the love in bringing him over?

He's a stiff who runs (trots) 5 yards down the field, catches the ball (or drops it about half the time) and then falls down. He only has any numbers because there's nobody after Calvin. I don't know how anybody can defend Pettigrew.

And whether you take them as gospel or not, PFF had him below average as a blocker.

that can go with any player in the end. This is not an exact science and you can only do your best. That is why rookie draft picks are a 50% commodity for round 1. I just did an example for one of the guys in my league who thought he had drafted well. He was 2-9 in round 1(only hits Fitz and Calvin as top 2 picks). We do draft round 1 before NFL draft He was 0-5 in round 2 and 1-7 in round 3. My hit rate was 40% overall and than is how do you grade a Micheal Clayton(my only WR pick since 2000 in round 1) Vincent Jackson and Anquan Boldin at end of round 2 save me.

I was referring to his NFL draft status. NationalFootballPost had him going in the 1st round in one of their mock.

He has said recently he is willing to take a cut to make a trade easier.

Right now, it makes zero sense for the Titans to trade him unless they get decent compensation.

They gain more of a cap advantage by cutting him than trading him was the last thing I had heard.

Made me wonder if they draft a RB in the third or so to be in a RBBC. They aren't exactly pinning their future to him. They could always extend him in the future, but I was also expecting more than two years and more money. The good thing for CLE, minimal cost if he continues to get injured. Other teams may not have beat his door down if there is concern he is a system RB that benefited from the HOU scheme. Though OC Shanahan would have some overlap, so signing him makes more sense for them.

Worked out well for CLE, they get a first for a RB they don't want, replace him without using a draft pick, and can now maybe flip the IND 1.26 for a QB of the future like Carr?

According to this CAR offered him $4.5 mill "per season." That sounds like a multi=year.
