2014 Oakland Raiders Regular Season Thread (1 Viewer)

I just don't see it with Bridgewater. I don't profess to know more than anyone else, I've seen a few of his games and read all the same articles as everyone else, but in my opinion he doesn't seem to be a superior talent. His arm strength doesn't look special to me and with his slight frame he looks like a high school kid playing QB. I'm glad they didn't make a play for him.

With the O-linemen, D-Linemen, and RBs still kicking around, I personally would prefer to see a WR in the 3rd. Whether we go QB or not.

Hoping for Carr and then a Latimer, Moncrief, or even Martavius Bryant in the 3rd.

I'm hoping for Carr and then his prime target Adams in the third. Or one of the prime RB's maybe, Hyde or Mason. This draft is so deep, and judging by some questionable picks already made in the first round, I bet there's somebody nobody expected to be at pick 67. Let the draft fall to you Reggie. If Carr is gone, or the prime target's not there, trade down.

i don't want carr. cousins for a third would intrigue me, but not mallet. TB is too small, he looks little and i'm glad we didn't move up for him.

for the next pick, i'd like to see a trade down or best big ugly available. i wish we had some 4th and 5th rounders.

i am resigned to getting carr.

Like Raiderfan, i'll gladly take Carr and Adams.

I have some concerns about the guy's character, but if we are trying to run more 3-4, I'm intrigued by Louis Nix with our 2nd rounder.

I'm continually befuddled by some of the things that come out of Reggie's mouth. The latest from here:

http://www.ibabuzz.com/oaklandraiders/2014/05/08/with-mack-available-raiders-keep-pick/

Reggie McKenzie said he fielded some phone calls Thursday night from teams interested in trading for the Raiders’ first pick at No. 5 in the NFL draft.
Then Buffalo linebacker Khalil Mack became available.

“Once Khalil fell to us, we had a couple of calls,’’ McKenzie said. “At that point, I wasn’t taking ‘em.’’

What? You're not taking calls? How is this even possible? Part of your job is taking calls--ALL calls.

I was all for this guy when he first came on board. Had Madden's backing and someone (I forget who) said, "Reggie knows who can play and who can't" so what wasn't to like?

Davis, as I recall, was locked in on him from Day 1--and even before. Now I'm thinking he should have seriously kicked the tires on a few more candidates instead of just paying lipservice and having a few obligatory interviews with others.

Well, maybe he kills it the rest of the draft. He needs to since his job is probably riding on it. He's done the easy part--the deconstructing. I'm not sure he knows how to reconstruct...

Is this serious?

This is how I see things as well.

Seriously? Mack is one of, if not the top player in this draft. You don't pass on great players to get good players. Reggie did the right thing not taking calls when Mack became available for them to draft.

You ALWAYS listen. What, they don't get to take Mack if they listen? All they have to do is say "no." Sheesh.

Semantics. Teams have all thee conversations before the pick, they know what people are offering. A guy they never thought would be there was there.

Because a "guy they never thought would be there WAS there," THAT'S why you take ALL the calls.

:lmao: I am sure he answered the phone, they took something like six minutes to make the pick.

I think the he meant that nothing blew him out of the water so he quickly dismissed the offers, but that doesn't make for as interesting of a sound bite.

Getting one of the two best defensive players and the QB that many thought they might pick at #5 overall seems like the best they could have hoped for.

I love it when a plan comes together. Whether you like Carr, hate him or like another QB better, it doesn't matter. I love what Oakland has done this offseason. They had a plan and are executing it to a tee. Whether you like it or not, Oakland had Carr as their #1 QB and they got him without having to move to get him. And they Got Mack to boot. It's nice to have a pulse again. :banned:

Winnah, winnah, chicken dinnah

I would have been happy if we traded up to 32 to take Carr. Getting him here is perfect.

The way the draft has played out, has made for some very easy decisions for the Raiders so far.

I am glad that Reggie and Allen were happy to grab a guy that won't necessarily help them win this year. Hope they go 8-8, and everyone keeps their job.

Shaping up to be an "A" draft for the beloved Silver and Black.

Grateful to Jacksonville for taking Bortles, leaving either Watkins or Mack (the two guys I coveted most) available. I can't give Reggie too much credit for this, the guys just fell into his lap. But good job anyway Reggie Mc.

Strong policy. I never give credit to Baltimore when they don't move and take good players either.

i hate to speculate but im not sure this would have played out this way if a certain owner was still alive and making draft choices, this is said with the utmost respect for a great football mind.

It's enjoyable to see all the haters gnash their teeth over these two picks. I especially love how they trot out former Raiders draft picks, as if what this regime does has anything to do with what Al did.

Not sure if the haters you mention here are Raider fans or Raider haters? It's amazing after all these years of failure we have a faction in the fan base that enjoys ripping the new regime at every possible turn. Sometimes they deserve criticism. But you can spot the fans with an anti-regime agenda. Can't imagine enjoying being a fan or calling yourself a fan and constantly ripping your own team.

great pick here getting Derek Carr. He may prove to be the best QB of this draft. A plus grade
Not that high on him but he was the best remaining QB and great pick there.

Impressed by Raiders management, looks like things are turning around in Oakland.

Is there anyone worth moving up for at this point or we just stay put?
Think there's guys worth it but not to us. With no 5th or 6th rounders, we will stay put, and maybe move down if someone offers.

With the depth in this draft, we stay put, and take highest guy on our board, at a position of need. TE, WR, OT, OG, DT, DE, S, CB.

Sheeeeet, anything other than a kicker.

TE would be nice

I feel like I have been the only one that wants one, but I find it hard to believe there'll be one worth it. Niklas going to AZ here, I bet.

My guess is there'll be a DT or WR that we all want.

Stay put, Lots of talent still on the board. that may change soon... Some good picks are coming in. getting nervous.
Agreed. This is a deep draft. I'd sort of like DT Louis Nix III from Notre Dame in Round 3.
