. Getting ahead of ourselves, but in the event Mariota falls in our lap, I'd imagine he'd have huge value on a trade down. I am ready to say DCarr is our long term answer to our QB quagmire. So what happens if Mariota falls into our laps in the spring? Carr was the shiny new toy this summer, but we hear that every year. Remember when some people were talking about how Tyler Wilson was the steal of the draft last season, and he got waived eight seconds later. I'm just wondering what kind of future this staff projects for Carr.
He looks okay but he's still averaging 5.4 yards per attempt. He needs to show he can challenge defenses on intermediate and deep routes on a regular basis (as well as lead his WRs short on short routes and give them the opportunity to pick up YAC).. Do the wise thing and trade the pick for a boat load of picks from a QB needy team and reap the rewards. So what happens if Mariota falls into our laps in the spring? One can dream. In an alternate universe Derek Carr is throwing passes to Calvin Johnson.

I purposely don't look to much into the past of raiders drafts. Now I'm sad, mainly because of the terrible picks that everyone knows are bad as soon as they happen.I'm sure this is well known around here, but for emphasis:2005 draft:In an alternate universe Derek Carr is throwing passes to Calvin Johnson.

Darrius Heyward-Bey. That says it all. A new OC would go a long way to answering those questions because Olson isn't capable of calling anything but an outdated ultra conservative game. He is hampering Carr's ability to read defenses.
Agree with everything in this post.that's my beef with the Hayden pick. It was a head scratcher for everyone, including Raiders fans. "Really, it has to be my freakin' Raiders who take a dude who almost died in practice?! Couldn't they take a guy that was highly rated and, say, DIDN'T almost die in practice?!?!?!"krsone21 said:Darrius Heyward-Bey. That says it all. My problem with the Hayden pick was that there were some really good DTs on the board.that's my beef with the Hayden pick. It was a head scratcher for everyone, including Raiders fans. But picks like Gallery and McClain were at least dudes that most people thought "hey, that's actually a good pick".
I know some folks arent a fan of Group Think, but I think the Raiders could use a few years of Group Think instead of being the silly renegades who make the head-scratchers in most years. That plan hasn't worked in a long long time.
(but I have to give props for what seems like a very solid 2014 draft)
I wouldn't go too far down this road. It's too depressing.Hankmoody said:I'm sure this is well known around here, but for emphasis:2005 draft:In an alternate universe Derek Carr is throwing passes to Calvin Johnson.

Too much!!!how much are they paying tyvon branch to get hurt every year?
The Cards are really talented on both sides of the ball. Comparing the Card roster vs. the Raider roster makes you cry. At least Palmer is injured so we do not have to watch him throwing the ball to Michael Floyd and Fitz.So we can go from 55 mill in cap space to 58 mill?
If we assume that Shaub and Woodley aren't here next year, a big assumption at the moment, that's an extra 10 mill That's 65 mill in cap space. Branch ain't going anywhere.
Considering the Woodson/Usama Young combo we'll be rolling out there, it's a bummer looking at the Cardinals with their 4 young safeties flying all over the filed at the moment, If any of you haven't watched any Cards games yet, check out their D. Pretty crazy.

Don't assume that these guys would be star players for the Raiders. It's a rotten organization; players don't want to play there. They either overpay, which puts pressure on the cap, or they sweep up players past their prime, which results in a poor product on the field. Coaches don't want to coach there either. And these guys would have played during Al's days. Yeah right.OuchJust brutal.I wouldn't go too far down this road. (RotoWire)Holmes is expected to move into a starting role with Rod Streater (foot) out 4-5 weeks, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Dennis Allen said bluntly that Holmes "will be the guy" to replace Streater, though he mentioned Vincent Brown and Brice Butler as candidates for increased roles as well. It's worth noting that Allen did not mention Denarius Moore, who has hauled in just eight of 20 targets for 60 yards so far this season. The 6-foot-4 Holmes will make for an intriguing speculative add in deeper leagues, because while he racked up just 29 yards in last Sunday's loss to the Patriots, those yards came on a beautiful catch along the sidelines, and he also drew a pass interference penalty. Although Holmes did not catch a pass last season until Week 11, he still tied for the team lead with 10 receptions of 20-plus yards, and his size will likely make him a top candidate for red zone looks.
For Carr's sake let's hope not.For some reason -- and far beyond any reason -- I see us squeaking by the Dolphins in a low-scoring game with Streater being the best performing WR by far. Which would be good, because outside of the four games against CLE and STL on the road, and KC and BUF at home (and even these are longer shots), winning will be few and far between this year.
Here's to holding our head high even in defeat -- a great (though Steeler-centric) rehash of the 1974 AFC Championship game. Good stuff on Double-0:

What's the over/under on the NFL Fine for non-approved uniform because Streater plays while wearing a protective boot?Hankmoody said:For Carr's sake let's hope not.For some reason -- and far beyond any reason -- I see us squeaking by the Dolphins in a low-scoring game with Streater being the best performing WR by far. have a bloody good time mateI'll be at the game on Sunday for my first Raider game. Just moved to London and as a life long fan since the Tim Brown and James Jett days, its about time I make it to a game. Also, the Raiders have been running large ads on the double decker buses so every so often you see a Raiders banner fly by.![]()
Expect Vincent Brown to get a lot of work today.
I was happy when the Raiders signed Vincent Brown. I think he can contribute at the WR position.Making Tannehill look like a top QB. Want to save your job if you are a QB or coach......play the Raiders. Can't really expect to be competitive with the Miami Dolphins.
